Kaput is the word that best describes Barack Obama’s once torrid love affair with the British media.
And while seventeen months can’t exactly be called a one-night stand, the Telegraph UK reports on President Obama’s walk of shame:
The BBC reports of Barack Obama’s speech last night are about as derisive as it would be possible to be about someone you were describing only a few months ago as the incarnation of Hope and Optimism. Yes indeed, the romance is over. The British media have decided that it was all a cruel deception: Obama is just one more ranting populist president who will do anything to divert attention from his own failure to get a grip. And this is not just about BP and the fate of all those pension funds.
Nor is it simply the demonising of Big Oil – which makes the US president sound as if he were recruiting his speech writers direct from the student union – that has evoked the UK media’s collective sneer. What has been much commented upon – especially by those fastidiously liberal BBC correspondents – is Obama’s pointedly bellicose language: the US is apparently engaged in a “battle” to be waged in very personal, anthropomorphic terms “against an oil spill that is assaulting” its coast. Considering how relentlessly the Bush “war on terror” was ridiculed, how long will it take before the Obama “war on an oil slick” is labelled as absurd? Given the tone of this morning’s coverage, perhaps not very long at all.
Lyndon Johnson famously said, “If I’ve lost Walter Cronkite, I’ve lost middle America.”
Barack Obama can now say, “If I’ve lost the British media, I’ve lost something, but I’m not sure what it is because my Teleprompter seems to be on the fritz.”

To MichiganVet: How I hope and pray that you are correct and we somehow (and I don't care how) manage to get rid of this damnedable marxist Obama who is so hellbent to destroy the U.S. and western civilization. I'm not as confident as you however as I think we (the U.S.) has been too dumbed down to even realize what is going on. I truly fear for our country.My own feeling is that he actually represents a planned, carefully organized attack on the United States. And the attack has succeeded.
And soon it will be our turn to show the world how we deal with our mistakes - it begins this November with imposing "constituit applied term limits" to many member of Congress. That will be the warm-up drill.
November 2012, we will send Mr. O and his administration packing back to Chicago! He will have earned his place as one of the most incompetent people to ever hold a position in government.
We'll never for get his promises that never happened, his flip-flops, his bowing, his dumb statements but most of all, his (and the entire Dem party's) ineptness to be elected with a friendly congress and a sizeable margin, and then blowing it all.

Well I always said he was a charlatan, another Blair, but the hero worship washed all the misgivings and common sense away - for a time. Didn't take long, did it, for the "told you so" moment? Unfortunately the British wet public (and that of the US, apparently) are so easily blinded with displays of faux-charisma, they lose all sight of reality. You can understand, now, why Hitler was so popular with the average German - their blinkers were up, their judgement clouded, and their brains spellbound by this shouty, pseudo- charisma. Look where it got them. Unfortunately for Europe, what goes around comes around, so now we are being introduced to Euro-Nazism by stealth, and again we turn a blind eye until it's too late. Now it's YOUR turn.
Do you want Healthcare? Do you want Socio-Islamism? Do you want cap and trade? Do you want to lose your jobs, and have to do "green" things for peanuts instead? Do you want to be deprived of energy that's available because The Messiah says so? Do you want to wave goodbye to your economy and personal freedoms? If not, you'd better change direction, rapido.

"This crap" was affecting us in Europe long before it spread to and infected the States. I would have thought you'd have sussed out the obvious dangers, particularly when the Obamessiah came to notice. Americans, being proud and patriotic should have stamped on this in its nascence, media or not, instead of which, the fawning messiah lovers got their way, and look what you're stuck with. Pretty much in the same boat as we were with Blair and then the crass oaf Brown and the initial sick, blinkered adulation, but you've had 13 years to heed the warning signs from this side of the pond when you could have closed ranks, but Obama, STILL slid under the radar, and has set about systematically destroying you, as some of us thought he would.

Now he is going to rob BP blind. That tiny little first installment payment of $20 Billion US is the first of many he'll seek from you. 1) they follow us into every gunfight-they are good allies.
2) They allow/have allowed any/every muslim into their country to such a detriment, they now have shariah law all over the country-he should love them for allowing all of his "brothers" (as he called them in his books) into their country, and for allowing them to basically hijack (pun intended) the British way of life!
Well ever since the PM disaster, the Queen situation and the UK media hasn't been as warm and loving as the others have been.

The Obama's don't give a damn about the Brits, & I have the feeling it has it's roots in the Brit colonial relationship with Kenya. Both Barack & Michelle Obama hate Great Britain, hate their history, & don't give a damn about the relationship between the US & the UK. 1 of the 1st things he did was ship a bust of Churchill back to the Brits after they gave it us after 9/11. Then we had the wonderful DVD collection Obama give PM Brown of classic American films, none of which he could play because they were not the correct format for European DVD players. Finally, Obama gave the Queen, as a gift, an Ipod with a bunch of his speeches loaded on it, the lack of modesty is topped only by the thoughlessness of that gesture. My hope is she cleared the shit speeches from it & loaded some nice here today-gone tomorrow music onto that Ipod. You know, crap you would hear on BBC 1.
As for Europe, they will all hate Obama by the time he's gone, & will hate him more after they really look back at him historically. UK & Euro historians will see what a piece of crap he is long before most American historians will. He will rank way below Jimmy Carter all time, & he will take his place next to FDR, LBJ, & Woodrow Wilson as our worst & most destructive Presidents.
