        • Well, if you need to be reminded about Ron Paul, corporate greed, or stolen gold, he might have something of value. But since he will bring that up all the time about subjects that have nothing to do with those things, he adds no value.

• Kip, Kip, Kip... you should know better. Logic has no place in a discussion about political philosophy with liberals.

• the ideology behind D.C. is that they can purchase their way to self ordained elite social standings by consuming tax payer dollars in every corrupt scheme the career slim happen balls stumble across, hundreds of Billions for Illegals, tens of billions to the unions, corruption is so common place that an honest person could not get elected to congress. Honor, dignity, a sworn oath to protect the constitution all tossed to the trash in favor of power, control or a promise of future importance. Term limits, no life long benefits they vote for themselves, certainly no ridiculous $15,000 a month minimum for one term and than have the nerve to call it public service?

  • The term, public service, is reminicent of the term volunteer, or volunteerism. To be a volunteer, in the true sense of the word, is a noble thing, but look at the money and incomes that many of the CEO's and Presidents of organizations known for their 'volunteer' works make. Some of these scam artists make upwards of tens of millions of dollars a year, grifting their charities. Politicians do the very same thing to us and expect us to treat them with deference and respect, as if they were royalty. If I'm not mistaken, we kicked our royalty out of the house, in what was a very brutal and violent domestic dispute, some 230 years ago. Who let them come crawling back? Sounds a little bit like battered wife syndrome!

    • One of the parties must like the abuse... the question boils down to which... if not both.

• See, the problem is Corporate Greed that is allowed because of the corrupt Federal Reserve and the gold they stole. If only they were forced to give the gold back.

• The problem is NOT primarily "special interest groups." The bottom-line problem started when we eliminated term limits. This opened the door for special interest groups to commit a LOT of money to keep THEIR guy/gal in until they die. This is also where all those tax loopholes come from.

  If there were term limits in Congress (say, three terms max), this corruption would solve itself overnight (okay, to a degree, let's not get silly).

  • The problem with term limits is that we would have many, many, more people collecting lifetime pensions.
    Fix that first, then the term limits would be much easier on us.

    • True. Politicians should have a job before getting into politics. Serve as non paid civil servants then leave and go back to work or retire. Since everything is already taken care of for them (their security and offices) they don't need to get paid nor given pensions.

      • Originally that was how the Foundiong Fathers set it up. 1/3 of the house rotated every 3(?) years. After the civil war, the Congress voted that out allowing for unlimited terms.

        • That is very odd and I want to know the reason behind it.

        • To limit the number of Southerners allowed in Congress.

        • Well that backfired... considering that many southerners are now conservative.

        • The days of the Solid South WERE conservative. At that time, the Republicans were the rabble rousers (note Lincoln was a Republican.) Over the last few decades the South has become increasingly Repblican as the Democrats are jumping off the cliff of progressivism.

• Given the current state of the economy we have a 'penny-ocracy', unless you're a friend of BO or one of his handlers.
