• Obama and the Mockery of Honor

  Benedict Arnold chose to put on the uniform, too. Did he serve with “honor and distinction”?

  If a soldier who volunteered to serve in the military rapes or murders someone while in uniform, has he served honorably? Has Bradley Manning, who voluntarily joined the military and then betrayed his country by turning over hundreds of thousands of documents to WikiLeaks, served honorably? Did Benedict Arnold, another volunteer, serve with “honor and distinction”?

  According to the logic of our national-security adviser, Susan Rice, they all did. Merely because they volunteered in the first place. Lieutenant Calley of My Lai Massacre fame? “Honor and distinction.”

  Ms. Rice is aggressively stupid, immaculately clueless, and a disgrace to our system of government, but one does have to admire her tenacity. Late last week, Rice tried to extract herself from her effort to sell Private Bowe Bergdahl as a hero who served, as she had put in on ABC’s This Week, “with honor and distinction.” (The rank of private is correct, in that his promotions were phony.) In her attempted walkback, Rice claimed that anyone who ever signed on the dotted line had served honorably: “What I was referring to was the fact that this was a young man who volunteered to serve his country in uniform at a time of war. That, in and of itself, is a very honorable thing.”

  If this administration cannot embrace our military, might it not at least stop insulting those in uniform? No soldier is finally judged to have served “with honor and distinction” until his or her service is complete. There’s a glaringly obvious reason for that.

  Of course, we’ve heard a series of increasingly ugly comments from White House staffers as their lionization of Bergdahl has collapsed. Administration hacks who have never served our country in any useful capacity stage-whispered that right-wing activists were “swiftboating” the reputed deserter. In fact, it was the other way around: The real character assassinations were launched from the White House, and they targeted soldiers from Bergdahl’s platoon who had, indeed, served with honor and distinction. Those courageous young men stood up for justice, refusing to allow the administration’s blithe betrayal of military values to prevail. In response, White House loyalists insinuated that Bergdahl’s comrades in arms might be psychopathic. This is Chicago politics leveled against truly honorable soldiers — yet more evidence of this president’s disdain for those in uniform.

  Then, on Sunday, the New York Times front page — once again indistinguishable from its self-abusing editorial pages — snarked that Bergdahl’s unit was “known for its troubles” and that (Lord preserve us!) the soldiers in Bergdahl’s battalion, on dangerous duty at a harsh outpost, weren’t always properly attired. Well, ending the draft was great for our military, but dreadful for the country. Anyone who had served even a couple of months as a private at Fort Hood would grasp that soldiers sweating on sunbaked ground in eastern Afghanistan generally do not display the spit and polish of the Old Guard drill team performing in Washington, D.C.

  And perhaps those bold reporters from the New York Times would like to criticize the imperfect field uniforms of SEAL Team Six or our Special Forces? To their faces?

  Doubling down on its shamelessness, the same front page applauded Obama for personally ending a failed strategy in Afghanistan — without bothering to mention that the truly catastrophic, troop-killing “strategy” was Obama’s own. The revisionism is worthy of the heyday of Chairman Mao.

  When it comes to Bergdahl, though, the administration does have a strategy. No one in the White House gives a damn about Bergdahl now. He’s a liability. But the rule is that Obama is never wrong. Apologies are out of the question; instead, the White House is determined to tough it out, as it has through myriad scandals. And the tactics to protect the president are clear.

  First, the White House will pressure the military to deem Bergdahl unfit to stand trial. That stage is already being set. After doctors treating him declared Bergdahl physically fit to return home (guess he wasn’t dying, after all), they’ve kept him secluded in Germany, making it known that he is in their view mentally unprepared to return to the States. The administration is going to go with the defense that Bergdahl is unbalanced, was unbalanced, and will be unbalanced.

  Excerpt: This week the Republican controlled House passed a bill that would have reformed the VA Health care system, allowed vets to go to doctors outside their system if their treatment was delayed, increased audits of hospital performance and give the VA Chief the power to fire anyone who has been found abusing our vets. The Democratically controlled Senate killed the House Bill immediately. Led by the only Socialist-Communist in the U.S. Congress, Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, the Harry Reid Senate had one problem with the House's bill. Can anyone guess what that was? Yep....the Senate Democrats would simply not allow the VA unionized health care workers to be reprimanded for fired for abusing our vets. So, the VA worker in Phoenix who left that vet out on an outside patio for eight hours on a 120 degree day...and found him face down on the hot cement with 2nd degree burns will suffer no consequences. Nor will the security bully who ejected a vet so desperate for help he chained himself to a chair in the waiting room. And no discipline for those medical schedulers who kept secret waiting lists in order to secure bonuses for timely scheduling.

• Report: WH Orchestrated Campaign Of Threats and Intimidation Against Servicemen To Keep Them Quiet About Bergdahl

  Accusations of threats and intimidation against whistleblowers are a feature not bug of the scandal factory known as the Obama administration, and according to a columnist from Huffington Post, SwapGate is no different.
  Huffpo columnist Bill Robinson joined Fox and Friends Monday morning with some exclusive info from a Pentagon official. Robinson said the official wanted the American people to know that there's a bigger story about the Bergdahl swap that isn't being told - including the claim that servicemen received threats and intimidation from the White House to keep quiet.
  Robinson, who has written a series of columns called, "American hero stories" says the official thought he could be trusted with the information.
  Robinson told Steve Doocy that "the White House, in concert with the State Department and Defense Department was orchestrating a campaign of threats and intimidation not only against infantrymen and the military men in Afghanistan at the time in 2009, but also against military officers and Pentagon officers to keep silent about what really happened, there."
  "He was more than just a deserter," Robinson went on to say. "He was an out and out traitor."
  Bergdahl didn't merely go AWOL, Robinson noted. After expressing his hatred for America and his officers, the private left the base, actively seeking out the enemy. Robinson's sources contend he collaborated with the enemy during wartime.
  Robinson maintains that many more than six soldiers were killed while searching for Bergdahl - who was taken captive on July 2, 2009. In June 2009, there were 24 US servicemen killed in Afghanistan. In the month of July, Robinson notes, "the number jumped to 44 killed - an increase of 83% in a month." During the next month even more servicemen were killed.
  Keep that in mind, as the Obama administration its acolytes in the media continue their smear campaign to discredit the soldiers who served alongside Bergdahl.

• It's been obvious for a long time that the People's democratic party of America has what I refer to as a "toilet paper" philosophy towards the Military. That being when you need a specific mission accomplished only one organization or product will do the trick. When barry and the clowns need a clean up problem taken care of ie. Bin Laden they're quick to call. But when the mess is taken care of they can't wash their hands of and dispose of what it took to accomplish the mission. NO ONE wants to be treated like TP. Idiot fools.

• This is what I've been saying all along. None of the rank and file have any respect for him, it's only the senior officers that are worried about their next promotion that are going along with him, and they're useless anyway.

• Almost all the ex military I've talked to his his guts, the ones that didn't are a bunch of useless brown nosers.

• From what I've heard from my contacts in the USMC there wasn't a whole lot of respect left for him to loose. Doesn't take a PHD to id a turd.

• Thank God not one of my 26 yrs. served was under this a-hole. What is equally bad are "soldiers" who serve at the highest ranks and go along with this self-loathing apologist. He cannot produce a correct salute, he craps on real war heroes daily, craps on Israel, wouldn't wear the flag on his lapel, won't cover his heart while hearing the National Anthem, and supports the Muslim Brotherhood. If we weren't a civilized nation, someone would have already taken him out.....
