GAO: Recoverable oil in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming “about equal to entire world’s proven oil reserves.” If only we could get around the technical difficulties that hinder extraction, like figuring a way for Obama’s cronies to profit from it and getting his donors to ignore it.

For the oil on federal land, as long as Barry the Backward is President, might as well be on the moon.
So all of the oil rigs I saw last spring in North Dakota on my way to Saskatoon were on private land? Huh...
All kidding aside, I had tears in my eyes when I drove through the Bakken oil fields. Oil is the lifeblood of America & our way of life. We need to drill wherever there is oil to be extracted. Getting rid of Obama, & the EPA would be a great way to start America's economic recovery.
There was a short lived series on Planet Green (I know) that was called "Boomtown" it was about people becoming millionaires and the impact on the area of the Bakken formation..Was interesting cause some people did change, some stayed the same..
One good thing about drilling here, those are good paying jobs that can't be sent overseas. You would think Obama would have supported that.

Or he could be helping Petrobras with increasing their oil exploration & then saying that he wants America to be Brazil's biggest customer. I like Brazil, but we have our own oil.
Well they aren't drilling for unicorn farts so Obungles don't care..Unless of course they drill into a hidden stash of cash which he could give away to another failed green energy company...
Why would anyone expect the rat waste in the white house to do anything to improve the situation for American people? That is diametrically opposite to his goals.
Most of this oil requires "fracking", or synthetic processing to recover. However it's still much more efficient then the fairy dust and unicorn farts that this administration is advocating.
Fracking needs some fine tuning in it's operation, and in it's legalities. As of right now, companies can keep the compound they use secret, even when they're in court because nasty chemicals have been found in waterwells nearby. Sorry, but if you're going to experiment with the environment, and do ACTUAL damage, you have to be held accountable.

Shooting propane gel instead of water to bust up the shale and the gel turns back into gas and is recoverable as fuel.
Talk about a reusable resource.
I think the environmentalists have run out of arguments.
They are doing a lot of Fracking in my old home state of North Dakota. One of the sites is experimenting with the propane gel Fracking method, It appears with the amount of propane available, this might be the option of the future. It keeps out the nasty chemicals some of the cheaper outfits might try and use to increase profits. So far I haven't heard anything about pollution in nearby wells yet, but they have an abundance of ground water to use for now. (actually too much in the last few years, must be all that global warming shit)
I will reserve judgement until Al Gore releases a statement.

As CO denizen, I say go for it, as long as they don't fuck up the creeks and water tables and what not. This has happened on the western slope in places. I just ask that the industry be careful about it

The most genius man in the history of the universe told me there is only 2% of the world's oil in the USA and that we should trim our lifestyles (not his of course) back to the early 1800s to save the planet.

My reference was to the predictions of a biblical armageddon in 1988. The generation of the ‘fig tree’ (Matthew 24:32-34) started with the foundation of the state of Israel. Some figured a generation to be 40 years. The State of Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948. A few religious leaders, I think Hal Lindsey was one and some other guy named Camping, created quite a stir but very few took them serious.
I'm not sure that this is breaking news about the oil. The report seems to be more about the problems involved getting it out without wrecking the place completely.
