It’s almost funny. No, it is funny. Very damn funny, in fact. One might even say uproarious.
The same global warming fanatics who told us that burning coal is one of the main causes of global warming are now explaining away a decade of cooler temperatures by blaming it on – you guessed it – burning coal.
The BBC manages to explain it all without even cracking a smile:
The lull in global warming from 1998 to 2008 was mainly caused by a sharp rise in China’s coal use, a study suggests.
The absence of a temperature rise over that decade is often used by “climate sceptics” as grounds for denying the existence of man-made global warming.
But the new study, in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, concludes that smog from the extra coal acted to mask greenhouse warming.
Aha! It must be true because it says so in a study. A study presented in a journal with a very long name. That’s good enough for us and we’re confident that it’s good enough for any reasonable person.
China’s coal use doubled 2002-2007, according to US government figures.
Although burning the coal produced more warming carbon dioxide, it also put more tiny sulphate aerosol particles into the atmosphere which cool the planet by reflecting solar energy back into space.
In other words, the problem is also the solution. If it’s warmer, it’s the result of burning coal. If it’s getting cooler, it’s the result of burning coal.
Global warming theory is like one of those Snuggies you see advertised on late night TV – one size fits all.

Once again, the cockiness of the intelligentsia amazes me. If anyone on this board truly believes we could destroy this planet, they are sorely mistaken. This world will kill us off until we are at the right numbers whenever it feels like it. Global warming/global cooling/climate change have been used by both sides when it is convenient for them to do so. Why don't we just admit to ourselves that the real science of climate and environmental equilibrium is always in effect. We cannot beat this world, no matter how advanced we believe we are.
Mother Nature can sneeze, burp, cough or fart anytime she wants to bring things back on track and it amazes me how many fools do not understand that one little fact.
It is good to know others understand what I have been saying for years. Anyone who is so arrogant as to think anything we can do to this old world will destroy all life is living with their head up their ass and their hand out for more tax money to support themselves.
OMG! Really? I was JUST having that conversation with someone. Just a few hours ago. This world was design to deal with its inhabitants. Volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes that is the world farting, coughing, sneezing, etc. If the world is a living organism (and it is), then it reacts to whatever happens to it in that way and usually when you get diarrhea is the body's way to get rid of the whatever is an issue in the body. The world is the same way. Even though obviously tsunamis and things of that nature does end human lives, that is just how it is. It is not good for someone to be farting all the time, or to vomit all the time, it is a sign of serious disease or something, we really don't see that with the world. It is not everyday that we have some natural disaster IN ALL ther corners (so to speak) of the world. I am not going to panic unless that actually starts to happen, on every country in every place there is a natural disaster. At this point in time the world is able to handle us. Not to say that we shouldn't do our best to keep the planet as clean as we can, but it is definetly arrogant to belief that we can have complete and utter control of all the Planet's erm... movements.
I have been saying the same thing since the 1970's when CFC's and globull cooling were causing holes to open up in the ozone layer over the south pole. Or is it under the south pole?
I always figured the ozone layer was doing what Mother Nature wanted it to do, open up once in a while to let all the gunk in the atmosphere out into space. Think about it. Isn't that what the hole in our southern region does once in a while? Open up to let the gunk in our inner atmosphere out then close up again? The only difference is the time involved and the size of the toilet paper roll.

I've told this story on a few other posts and I'm sure many have heard much the same.
Four years ago , I was buying some christmas gifts ( hunting / camping stuff ) for my brother , when I called a store up in Maine to place the order . I had heard it was the coldest week for those dates in Maine history . When I ask the sales rep how she liked the cold , cold weather ? , her reply was " Yea its cold alright , its all because of global warming ".

Many years ago , when I was in the fourth grade our teacher Mr. Quigley , stated sometime everyday " Chocolate cows make chocolate milk ". Every single day. At the end of the year on one of the finales there was this question , true or false , Do chocolate cows make chocolate milk ? Over half of the students answered yes .

Ok, I've got it figured out. This is the one great selling point of the Chevy Volt. It's mainly coal powered, and if we burn enough coal, we can turn global warming into global cooling for another few decades. By the time the global warming overtakes the cooling caused by additional coal burning, this country will have realized how much debt Obama is leaving to it, and won't even care about the climate. Problem solved.
Of course, by then, if we're still around, our Chicom landlords will have upped the rent so many times we'll be living in tent cities!

The Gobi Desert is one of the dryest and coldest deserts on the planet, but the Mojave or Sonora are also cold, depending what time of the year you happen to be camping in them. I, personally, wouldn't want to be living in a tent under either extreme!
Yep, I've spent some awfully cold nights in the desert. Both with and without a tent.
I never thought years ago that I would see science turn to sleaze. It's all about grant money, getting rich and controlling people nowadays. Science has nothing to do with it.

Global Warming apparently causes EVERYTHING.... Obama's missed putts, Michelle's flatulence after eating a pound of french fries, the poor sales of Chevy Volts.... ALL due to Global Warming! Hey, unemployment claims are unexpectedly up again today... Damn That GOBAL WARNING! (<- Crap, I made a typo.... GLOBAL WARMING IS RESPONSIBLE!) I think that one of best favors we can do for ourselves when get a veto proof majority conservative House, Senate and take the White House is to decide which programs we can do without right away. I'm certain that anything that has to do with the so-called 'scientific' research known as globull warming should be one of the first things we toss overboard and the UN should be next!

Skeletons are good, they prove you did some stupid things in your youth and, hopefully, learned from your mistakes. It's the doing dumbass things when we were young that made us the better man, or woman, that we are today.

I live in a desert farming town. 4 miles from my house is a 200 foot hillside, and you can easily dig sharks teeth out of it. These sharks lived here about 80 million years ago. So explain that part of oceans rising that was caused by me turning on a lamp or starting my car. Oh wait, you mean the earth has constantly changing cycles that have NOTHING to do with man?
Obviously you've mistaken sharks teeth with those of pre-historic lawyers - silly desert farming town dweller.
I am reminded of the Washington naval treaties. We and Japan and England agree that a cruiser could weigh no more then 10,000 tons. Of course the Japanese then build them to 14,000 tons, wiping their ass with the treaty. Its the same reason I cannot accept the Kyoto Treaty. Do you serious think we can trust India, China, and Russia to obey ANY sort of environmental laws?
