Damn, we feel a little guilty making fun of Tony Bennett. We want to forgive the guy for these stupid comments based on the fact that he’s 82 and possibly senile. But he’s never shown any evidence of senility until this video clip. So what the hell – he’s fair game.
Let’s just make this short and sweet. He wants you to support President Obama in anything he wants to do. Period.
President Obama wants to destroy capitalism? Tony Bennett’s behind him all the way.
President Obama wants to take over the banks? Tony Bennett says, “Right on.”
President Obama wants the government to warranty your new car? Tony Bennett says, “Gobama!”
President Obama wants to make Michelle Queen of New Jersey? Tony Bennett says, “When do I curtsy?”
Stick to singing, Tony.

Hubby was just telling me about an interview he heard with Art Linkletter. 97, sharp as a tack and smart enough to avoid politics when discussion sports and his career. Then there was his comment about his 74 year marriage.
Now, why can't these other old shoes figure out how to graciously accept praise and not alienate us through sheer inanity?
Mia,
Love your style!! Keep on writing, cause you nailed this one.
Mr. Bennet needs to look at the news every once in a while - and I'm not talking about MSNBC or CNN. The "rest of the world" isn't falling at the feet of Obama, thinking he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Obama is NOT a "great orator" when he is without TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States - check out his web site). As far as his "thoughts" - I suppose Mr. Bennet thinks Obama's thoughts were great when he was a JUNIOR Senator and opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act?
I want to know where all these people were when Obama was a Senator and even before when Obama was a community organizer. Obama came out of oblivion. Nobody knew who he was because he had never really done anything great or led anything great. The things he did for Chicago schools - whatever they were - were a disaster and not implemented statewide. He is allowing the discontinuance of the Opportunity Scholarship in D.C. - a program that actually works and has actual results - for disadvantaged black children. I saw a video of one mom who said she voted for Obama and stood out in the cold for him and supported him, and begged him not to allow the Opportunity Scholarship to go away.
He is not a great man. He is not a brave man. He is not a great orator. He wasn't even a great Senator - probably not even a good one since he spent most of his time campaigning and voted "present" more often than "yea" or "nay". Get over the tingly feelings, Mr. Bennet...everyone else has.
Thanks for this. About 7 years ago, my husband and I missed a chance to see Tony Bennett in San Francisco at a baseball game. I have been giving my hubby crap about it for years. I have been ordered to cut it out - and I will. What a feeble minded, non-thinker, swallow the koolaid kind of imbecile. It is not just because I disagree with the man, but his encouragement for all citizens to get behind Obama because he is "giving the country back" is just willful ignorance! Tony, you left your wits somewhere, better go find them.
