The Daily Mail UK has the details:
Councils across the UK are refusing to pick up low-energy lightbulbs from homes as they contain toxic mercury, which gives off poisonous vapours.
But confused consumers are putting the new bulbs — classed as hazardous waste — in their dustbins when they burn out, potentially putting the safety of thousands of binmen at risk.
… A study by Germany’s Federal Environment Agency found that when [a compact fluorescent bulb] breaks, it emits levels of toxic vapour up to 20 times higher than the safe guideline limit for an indoor area.
The Republicans are making some muted noises about repealing the law behind this idiotic lightbulb, but we don’t expect them to see the light until it’s too late.

Read the entire chapter in fact read the entire book of Isaiah. Get some commentaries going and then things will become clear to you. This is part of the prophecy against Babylon that did happened as that kingdom was coming to a close. It started under Darius a Persian (not a Jew) and the Babylonian empire eventually became part of the Islamic caliphate. The dashing of the babies heads on rocks was not done by Jewish people and DEFINETLY not done by Christians. It was a prophecy by G-d several hundred years before it happened upon the people of Babylon FOR THEIR mistreatment of the Jewish people when they Jews were conquered by the Babylonians, however done by a Persian who was a tool in G-d's hands. It is bad that it happened, but that was unfortunately the wages of war: innocent blood. Had the Babylonians not treated the Jews like crap, their story would have ended up differently. That is why your post failed, because then you posted First Testament scriptures completely out of context. So you were wrong for that comparison. You did not make your point correctly you should have taken the time to make your point instead of just posting something without any reference. It was in my opinion lazy.
As for the First Testament vs Koran comparison, one can make arguments that your point is still weak. Most of the First Testament pre-dates the Koran, their point of references and their origins are completely different from one another. Most of the First Testament especially the Mosaic books, are historical books of the origin of a people and their effect in their part of the world, because of their association with G-d, not due to their own efforts or plans. The Koran doesn't take that tack, it is not really about history, it is not about origins, it is more though about their effect that they believe they should have on the world based on their understanding of what their god wants for the world, but in the end it is based on their plans and efforts for power and control.
Whereas those scriptural texts you placed where about the Israelites effect on a piece of land, on a specific time frame, the Koran is very straightforward that their commandments are to be enacted at any time and in every place. Whereas some of those scriptural texts you placed where prophecies of things that did happen centuries later and not at the hand of the Jewish people, the Koran tells muslims what they should do with the people that are not muslims and it is not always a good thing, not a prophecy but a command. Whereas G-d asks His angels to not touch those who are marked for His Kingdom because they are righteous, the Koran speaks of killing or enslaving everyone who will not submit to Islam regardless of being moral/righteous people. There is no mercy in Islam once they conquer a place, whereas G-d explicitly asked for mercy on conquered people WHO WERE NOT the worst of the worst of the land.
As for the argument that Koran scriptures are being taken out of context, one can argue against that, but that was not what your original post said.

First of, the First Testament is the Jewish Scriptures. Christians must read the First Testament in order to know and recognize the G-d of Israel, to learn of Jewish history and to know what the Law of G-d is. There is an understanding that G-d did His part and reached out and they said "no thank you"... since the land was promised to Abraham that land belonged to the Jews. Since they were enslaved others worked the land preparing it for the Jews as they came to take over it as a nation. However, because of their idolatry and evil behavior, they (the people that were in the land at the time) were not to partake on the riches of the land any longer along side G-d's people. G-d was going to redeem the land for the people that redeem for Himself. I am quite sure this is probably a bit too complicated for you. Regardless of your agreement of G-d's methods and plans AT THE TIME (which once again doesn't apply to Christians, nor Jews for that matter in THIS time), overall it is enough to say you failed in this moral equivalency exercise.
2. Ha, ha? and your point is? Again FAILED. Obviously once again part of the Jewish history (not Christian) and this is part of the conquest of the (specific) land by the Jews at the time. Slavery was a cultural event. Many times in order to pay one's bills if one was poor they sold themselves into slavery, or in some cases people were conquered and they in order to keep their lives became slaves, the difference is that you failed to put up the many other scriptural texts where G-d specifically states they had to treat their slaves well and they had to let their slaves go after a specific amount of time UNLESS the slave wanted to stay with the person. Excessive and evil treatment of slaves was not seen kindly by G-d and He would stand on the side of slaves that were mistreated with cruelty. Obviously if the slave died the "owner" was to be punished severely, but if he or she didn't die, more than likely it was done as a disciplanary action, but if it was a cruel act it wouldn't be condone by G-d in the end, even if the person survived. In the New Testament even though it wasn't outrightly abolished, there is enough scripture to maintain that the end game was to end it as Christians became more prominent in society and indeed it was the Christian William Wilberforce that got slavery abolished in the UK which of course snowballed to other parts of the world (propagated by other Christians). Now in this day and age Jews do not keep slaves unless I am missing out on something here. Arabs/Muslims (in different countries) can/do keep slaves and in most cases the slavery is not because the person willed it, and the treatment is barbaric.
