President Obama returns to Chicago on Aug. 3 to mark his 50th birthday with fund-raisers at the Aragon Ballroom, with tickets ranging from $50 a person to $35,800 per couple, which includes VIP seating at a “Birthday Concert” where celebs will be performing and a dinner with the president.
The fundraiser at the Aragon, the historic ballroom in Uptown, will be one of the biggest third quarter events, expected to draw in national supporters. Obama’s 50th birthday is Aug. 4. UPDATE The Aragon is a cosy venue–I went to concerts there in college and high school–and I heard Thursday afternoon all the performers will be native Chicagoans. END UPDATE
The Obama team on Wednesday reported collecting more than $86 million in second quarter fund-raising over $47 million directly for the Obama 2012 campaign and more than $38 million for the Democratic National Committee.
But wait it gets better!
The event is multi-tiered: There is a concert at 4 p.m.–Foster said songstress Jennifer Hudson may perform–for the basic $50 contribution, of which there is supposed to be “limited availability.”
For $10,000, a person gets a souvenir photo with Obama at a reception and preferred seating at the concert. For $1,000 a person gets seated in a “premium section” with a “hosted bar.” A general admission ticket is $200.
What’s that you say? The peasants have no bread? No worries, let them eat Obama’s birthday cake.

I thought that (among other things) the economy was his top priority... I mean wasn't he suffering from anxiety and sleeplessness due to all the hard work? I don't mind if he parties, but he needs to work and he needs to stop complaining. He sickens me.
Sad thing is this will sell out. Thousands of proud Chicago residents will pay good money and then beg the ONE to piss on them and call it rain.
Even sadder, since you get electoral votes for illegal aliens, these same Chicago Obamatons will be able to deliver all of IL's electoral votes to their master in 2012.
Clinton once did a fundraiser where the highest tier would get a private concert with the Rolling Stones. Cost of ticket: $250,000. Yes, a quarter mil.
So few tickets sold - at ANY price - that they put them out to the public for (IIRC) less than $100.

This post seems a little silly. Republicans are fund raising right now, why should the President not be? It would actually be pretty stupid for him not to be fundraising.

You know, as bad as Obama is right now, he will get worse as a former President. This guy will be 10 times worse then Carter, & he will become way wealthier then Clinton, while producing less then Clinton(not that he has produced anything of value). This guy will be new template for being as POS ex-prez, & my feeling is he may view The White House as a stepping stone to bigger & more global things.

It's Obama being 10 times worse than Carter and using the White House as a stepping stone to bigger and more global things that scared me. A one world dictator with unimaginable power over the world is Biblical for end times and I think Soros could be a stepping stone to that. I don't think Obama is the one though. He is not anywhere near smart enough and this world leader is supposed to be liked by all nations, and solve the world problems.
I believe the majority of American people are waking up, not to be deceived again by the likes of Soros and the MSM in 2012. I hope and pray far beyond 2012. If not, those stepping stones could be in place for someone else a lot sooner than later.
