Started ok with sappy teeny-bopper love songs ( yeah, yeah, yeah) , but from Sgt. Pepper on went down-hill with "psychodelic" lyrics compounded with "socially conscious" stuff in collaboration with Yoko Ono. Speaking of whom-here's one for her courtesy of National Lampoon's album "Radio Dinner":

I truly loathe the Lennon song (but like The Beatles stuff) and I've just gotta say that...is...AWESOME!
I tried. Really did. Just impossible for someone like me to understand stuff from California.
It makes Imagine almost a decent song. Much better then the original lyrics, that is for sure.
and being a big fat liberal idiot, you'd think I really like John Lennon and worship him like Jesus or something ... but this is a MUCH better song than it was before.

Being a hater of everything beatles-that made my day beyond anything I can even tell you guys! To think that "imagine" is the exact same chord progression as the lamest of all rock 'n roll songs is like finding out that the easter bunny really exists!
