Video Shows TSA Agent Pat Down 10-Year-Old Girl ‘Over and Over.’ We would not have watched this. We would have raised holy hell and everyone in the airport would have heard it. This TSA agent should be arrested for sexual assault and everything else they can charge her with.

They were on Fox this morning and they have a right to be mad. The girl seems to try to just not let it affect her too much, but you could tell that she wasn't happy about that. As a woman I understand her completely. A few weeks ago an old crusty disgusting guy passed his hand over my lower back and it was sooooo creepy and ewww. Sure he didn't grope me nor pat me down, but that one passing was enough for me to feel disgusted, I cannot even imagine how she felt.
I want someone with in the TSA to explain this one to me. If any LE did this, we'd be setting in an IA interview answer all kinds of questions while riding a desk.
This was a sexual assault plan and simple. The father should've called the sheriff's office or local LE and filed a formal complaint right then and there. Showed the video and watched how fast the dike from TSA was sitting in a cruiser with a set of matching bracelets on.
And they claim there's no lesbian child molesters.
I don't travel by air much - not any more, it's really not worth the bother.
And I can't stand all this "hands-on" rubbish, just to get from one place to another (thanks, basically, to those who would kill us all, given the chance).
However, watching that film, I get the distinct impression that a mountain is being made out of a molehill. To my eyes, the security officer appears to be conducting a text-book body search - probably because she is aware that she is being filmed by the over-sensitive father of the child.
It also appears that some of the footage is being replayed in slow motion, giving the impression that the search is taking longer to conduct than it should.
I have no idea of the reality behind this particular incident, but in my humble opinion, perhaps the father is over-reacting somewhat, and should be very careful that his video (and comments) do not induce a complaint from that security officer. Is he suggesting that she is a rampant lesbian, touching up his daughter for kicks? I certainly didn't get that impression from his video.
If anybody touched my daughters in such a way they would find themselves on their ass, I don't care who they are. We are talking about a 10 year old child here, not some big time criminal under arrest.
An external body search is just that, and applies to everybody who is selected for such a search. It is unreasonable say that because it's your daughter, it shouldn't happen. NONE of it should be necessary, but unfortunately it is, so swallow your pride, and your over-reactive protestation
We know that children have had concealed dangers on them in the past, and should not be exempt from searches.
You can't have it all your own way - you either want to travel relatively safely, or you don't give a damn.
I know how I'd feel if, as a follow-on of my child (or any child) avoiding a body search, just because they were children, and something untoward happened to the aircraft because some device got through the net and she/he lost his/her life - and it wouldn't be overanxious indignation that someone dared, in the course of their lawful occupation, to touch my child. Quite the reverse.
You make a good point that it is appropriate to go through the safety protocol for anyone, and I don't believe in the random search either. EVERYONE should go through the safety protocols. HOWEVER certain groups of people should go through OTHER methods of security protocols that respects their privacy or else do an APPROPRIATE pat down. THAT was not appropriate. It was HIGHLY inappropriate. I can't understand how you can't see that. If this was a man, seriously I would think the same way and especially so if the man later confessed that the groping and the repetition search made him feel uncomfortable.
I avoided this thread because I assumed it would make me mad. I'm not seeing a problem here. I see selective editing by the parent that makes it look inappropriate. The video is slowed down each time the agent goes near a sensitive area. I'm also not sure what transpired to warrant the pat down. Minors traveling with parents are given pre-check status making them exempt from pat downs. Someone said or did something stupid for this to happen. My guess is the parent refused to let her go through the X-ray machine. Buttox?
She had a juice box in her bag. That's what started the whole thing.
I have had water and juice with me or in my bag in the past. I drink it down and throw it away or drink some of it in their presence and I get waved on. I have never been patted for having juice or water in my bag or with me while I am going through security.
I'm glad someone else has the sense to see what this is really all about.
I see your points, but I travel by air four to six times per month, and the TSA is an utter joke. To my knowledge, it has never stopped a crime, never thwarted a plot, never intercepted a terrorist, and has stolen from passengers. it is the embodiment of big bloated government and the incompetence that represents. That is the story, and the little girl is nothing more than a minor actor in a farcical play, which occurs perpetually in every airport in the country.
Again, the issue isn't the pat down. Its the repetitive stroking and rubbing, especially whenwe are trying to teach our kids appropriate vs inappropriate touch.
Bullshit. The gestapo has the tools, like wands, xray machines and scanners, to check out children who are obviously American kids. Dress, attitude, speech, parents and their dress, attitude and speech, all are telling signs that invasive search measures are not needed. The problem is the TSA hires the dumbest people imaginable all in the name of fair labor practices and they can't figure out how to use the tools they have.
Not bullshit, just the obvious requirement in this situation (or any other). A body search is purely that, and needs to be conducted to a standard (a high standard, I might add). The job NEEDS to be done, and done properly.

The woman was doing her job - a job she is trained to do. Do you know her? Has she been doing her job for long? Is she a known or suspected lesbian/pervert/sexual predator? Let's see the evidence for your unfounded suspicion.
Why was she being filmed in the first place? You can't blame her, under the circumstances, for ensuring her professional performance was beyond reproach, because the person filming her may well have been looking for a slack performance, in order to enforce employee discipline.
Some of you people are so frightened of anything which could possibly be construed as inappropriate touching, you are brainwashed, and appear particularly stupid as you jump to conclusions, and look for non-existent trouble.
This is my last word on this, but for God's sake get a grip - lives are at stake.
This is not what I would expect from you. No onevis saying she should ne exempt from security,only that security should not be repetitive in nature. Pat her down, pass her on. Don't pat down the same areas over and over, especially on a child.
I think you have said before that you live in France. I think perhaps France's permissiveness has affected your perceptions in this issue thus putting your opinion at odds with conservative Americans.
I don't think France is more permissive, at all. And the opinion I ventured here was purely on the basis of what I saw on the video, and as an unprejudiced, unexcitable observer. It seems some folk really get unnecessarily rattled about anything, without looking at the evidence with a cool head.
I am very objective. I have called bullshit on artcles and titles that manipulate the truth. My issuewith this par down was the totally unnecessary repitition. One pat down of arms, legs, torso was sufficient. Its not like she could grow weapons after the initial pat doown. Any cop I know could have completed the exam in 1/3 the time. And I am allowing for the slo-mo sections.
Exactly. The UNNECESSARY repetition over the same areas already patted down is the issue here. It is gross. I cannot know for sure what is going on within the mind of the TSA agent, but certainly to me this is disgusting and HIGHLY inappropriate.
Oh come on, give the TSA chick a pass. Obviously this 10 year old was likely a home grown terrorist. And who knows, maybe she developed some super power that allowed her to secrete a weapon after the first 5 pat downs were negative! We would not have flown that day. I would have called police and demanded to speak to.the highest level supervisor assigned to that airport!
