Happy Fathers Day! to all you men out there, But actually according to Obama you only need to spend a few minutes a day with your kids to apparently to make a difference in their lives. yep that's all! Well maybe an entire 5 minutes might do the little kiddies some real good. So step up Dads! and go out of your way to give at least 5 minutes out of the day for you kids. Amazing huh? If you didn't see it it was aired today, my son was appalled and thought why not Moms all over just give a few minutes a day??

It was a slow conversion for me.. just got older, my upbringing started to shatter some, my husband handed me the check book one day and told me to pay the property taxes. Ouch.

My husband and I have always debated - just about everything - movies, philosophy, science, and politics - heck, whether Linux or MSXP is the better operating system! He played Rush Limbaugh on the Radio when we together ... at first, I didn't like Rush, believing all the lies of the left and then I listened.... ! We debated Rush's comments---LOTS
I realized that it was irrational for me to speak about respecting life and advocating the slaughter of the unborn. That is a whole post in itself.
I read a lot, studied, thought about what I believed. I have always been a thinker. My honey took me to a local meeting of the WA republican party. (Saw Rush in person!) Rush makes me think. LOL
IN 1990 I called myself a Democrat - in 1994 I voted Republican. I think that the Clintons drove me alway, also...
I am not loyal to a party as much as the core of Conservationism - low taxes, states rights, individualism, capitalism, work, independence, etc..
Wow, what a change and good for you to for being willing to adapt! Funny you mention shooting and 2A as part of your conversion - I am the president of an NRA members council in CA. Seems to go with the whole VRWC thing.
It all boils down to four things: uphold the Constitution, respect life, small unobtrusive government, and take personal responsibility for your decisions.

Here's something that both Editor and I find extremely interesting. On March 11, we wrote the story Exposing the government’s cell-phones-for-the-poor scam. Little did we know that it would become so popular. I just checked and there are 86 comments posts.
Go take a look and read some of the comments. It's just so strange. The structure, politeness and frequency of the comments do not follow the same patterns as they do on other stories. And way too many of the comments supporting the program, that just have the same sort of feel.
Many are from people saying they are too poor to pay for a cell phone, but seem to have a computer, internet connection and are computer savvy enough to find the story. And when they come, the themes are the same, and every one is polite. Why am I mentioning polite? Because we know from experience that those who disagree with us, particularly in the support of socialized government, are not always very polite and the F word flows from their mouths of some like water. Readers simply don't see this on this on the site as we have to delete them. But there have been zero of these on this article.
So what's going on? Good question. While I'm not making any accusations, we think that some may be coming from organizations involved in the program which could range from government workers, Safe Link Wireless or any of their affiliates. No evidence, but just a guess.

yep it looks like the free cell phones for all campaign is waging a clumsey social networking campaign to support themselves. -- they are probably voter registration workers for Acorn.
Last Rant - I just reread Article II of the Constitution. The President is the Commander in Chief, may grant pardons, make treaties, appoint judges, fill certain vacancies with appointments, and name ambassadors and other public ministers. In addition, "he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed..." But nowhere in the Constitution does it say he is in charge of the census. Since when does a teleprompter dependent community organizer get to usurp that authority?
I am SO disappointed in Fox New's coverage of Iran. But then, I've been disappointed of Fox News for some time. I'm actually watching more and more of CNN, yes, recognizing the bias as I watch. But at least I get more in-depth news coverage, without people all yelling over each other. And I don't have to watch as many car chases, stories on missing pretty girls (they don't do much if they are not pretty) and the ay over-caffeinated Megan in the morning.
Well now I am in real trouble - I get my news from you guys assuming it is pretty high quality second hand stuff! Deep concern here now that I know I am getting watered down CNN. Oh the humanity!

Well, don't misunderstand, as for the news portions (as opposed to the commentary portions), I find more detailed news on CNN than Fox, but I find lots of bias on CNN and none on Fox. I simply don't want to watch "news" in 60 second stories, to hear people yelling at each other and covering stories that do not appeal to me (the salacious stories, missing girls, car chases and such). I'm smart enough to filter out the CNN bias. On Suday's though, Fox News Sunday is great.
Now when it's time for commentary, I prefer FOX News like Beck's show. Not of fan of the pompous O'Reilly and neutral on Hannity who is just too repetitive and not a good debater. On CNN, while I don't agree with everything, I do enjoy watching Lou Dobbs for his anti-immigration stance, dislike for Obama and honest critique.
I NEVER watch MSNBC.
So, it's a mix. I pick and choose to find what gies me the best info or the best commentary. For example, early this morning 6-7 AM PST, I had to watch CNN to learn anything about Iran, as opposed to power tools and other light fare. CNN had coverage nonstop. At 7 I switched to Fox but it was the Bulls & Bears loudmouths mixing Iran coverage with investing, so back to CNN. I just tuned into Fox News again while writing this message to see if they have gotten serious on covering Iran yet. I caught some good coverage for a couple minutes but went to commercial so I don't know yet; if they keep it up I'll be staying tuned. But if there is a car chase that begins, that will dominate their channel over Iran and I'll have to switch again...just came back from break and they are covering it but to be honest, I'm getting better coverage on CNN. Hey, it is what it is.
We can't be so dogmatic that we hate CNN 100% and love Fox 100%. However I do hate MSNBC 100%. :)
Rest assured, Dee Mac, that only one member of the vast IHTM Editorial Board is an heretical CNN watcher. The rest of us are keeping a very close watch on him.

I have a cure, my husband used it when he was trying to get me to notice the bias on the network news (it was a slow slide into sanity for me.) he said to watch the nodding heads, the little nods.. almost in unison... right, left, down, up, smile now, down, up... smile. Ruined the nightly news nodding heads anchors for me for ever!
I was fortunate enough to be raised by a man who always took the news, in what ever form, with a grain of salt. As a small child I remember my dad talking to the TV news anchors on the rare occasions he watched them. He would ask us about "facts" in the newspaper and challenge the writers' veracity. I guess that translates into a somewhat cynical viewpoint, but at least I can spot bias in a wink.

Hey, we're pulling off this "pretending to be two people" bit pretty well. Remember the guy that accused us of being the same person.
I do hope Dear Leader's single payer health plan fails. What is most frustrating is that they have so ingrained the mantra that we need some sort of health care reform, now it seems even the premise cannot be challenged. How heartless is it to say that the system is just fine and we don't need to meddle? Only monsters would deny medical care to disadvantaged children, single mothers, the blind, those with psychological disorders, disabled veterans.... But the reality is that this is the most compassionate country that ever was and we have always taken care those in need. Now we are told that we must line up behind Big Brother, because only the government has the heart and resources to care for people. Hog wash. Somebody has to stand up and start shouting that government is too big and needs to GET THE HELL OUT of all of our business. I fear it is too late - time to move to Texas and help them secede.

What do you all think about the Cash for Clunkers bill that working it's way through congress? If you are not aware of it, in a nutshell it pays you up to $4,500 for trading in a car than gets less than 18 mpg for one that gets 5-to-10+ mpg more.
To me, it seems like a way to put more american cars on the used parking lot, bringing down the price of new american cars further, while taking this taxpayer money and sending it to Japan as they have better high mpg cars.
Why could they not have put a Buy American clause in it? But they should never had proposed the program in the first place. Let the free market decide.
And I bet, like everything else, you can't take advantage of it if you are "rich." It'll be another "the higher pays" welfare program.
Correct me if I am wrong but, I heard that the vehicles collected will be destroyed not put out on lots. This will kill the availability of spare parts.

Yes, my husband said that very thing, Borrego. He also said that refurbishers (not sure about the right term, we've never done that kind of work,though I have seen the inside of at least one Honda motor in my life!) people who fix up old classic cars will be very upset - less parts, less availability, good cars being destroyed. I think Obama and company are trying to force the poorer classes to accept the nutty hybrids,but they still cost a lot and where are we going to get electricity once he starts closing the coal mines? WE are keeping our big truck!
