Good a place as any to mention that I went to Shoot Straight this morning - Dean and Poppa know it - the place was cleaned out. The only semi-automatic rifles left were Bushmaster .22LRs and really expensive (over $2500) larger caliber models. The hunting rifle shelves were stripped including most shotguns and I bought the last three 9mm magazines for my S&W. I also bought the last three boxes of hollow points. I don't even remember the brand. Unreal. The staff was exhausted. I shot pretty good though. Not with the hollow points, of course.
Doesn't surprise me, I believe kind of thing is happening across the U.S.
A friend wants to buy my Gen 1 Glock 17 after the holidays, but if it's going to cost a bundle to replace it with a Sig, I'm going to have to jack up the asking price.
I'm glad that I'm not looking for a new gun now. The price increase would resiously crimp my options.
Maybe things will ease up next month. Either that, or Obama will have closed all gun shops, and I'll have to keep my Glock.
How does somebody stop a crazy person from hurting other people? Besides locking them up (which was the reason for the snap in this case)? This whole tragedy was a combination of many factors, poor parenting being one of them.

And don't you think that more restrictions might actually increase their profits? Take illegal drugs for example. The street value of most illegal substances is so high BECAUSE they're illegal. The risk of getting caught selling them justifies their increased cost. Putting ANY legislation on guns would justify a higher cost for those willing to jump through the red tape to buy them. Hence more profit for the greedy corporations who make them.

Actually, I'm relieved that Biden will head up this commission. We are guaranteed of nothing getting done. I think blaming violent video games and movies for this is like blaming guns. Millions of people play these videos games and watch these movies and a perfectly fine and functioning individuals. Just as millions of people own guns and they are perfectly fine and functioning individuals.
If anyone is to blame then I blame the media. They turn these people into celebrities and give them power they shouldn't have. They champion legislatures who create new laws (usually that take away peoples rights) based upon the acts of these people. Imagine a mentally sick person who knows all they have to do is kill a bunch of people and he or she affects the lives of millions for decades. Then the media can't wait to endlessly air pictures of the person who did this on their stations and call out his name over and over. That probably has a greater affect then a video game. I hate the media, which is why I have not turned on a news station since the election.

Well, I think you can break down reasons without it being an exercise in blame. For whatever reason, things HAVE changed. As recently as the early 60s, high schools in NYC had student target shooting clubs, and kids actually brought their own rifles to school with them. Can you even imagine that now?

My favorite was hauling carcinogenic oils to Beatty, Nevada. Leave in the middle of the night, get to Beatty at 7 a.m., sign in, (there's that paperwork thing again), and go nap on the couch in the driver's lounge while they empty my tank and clean my truck for me. On the clock.
I hate dealing with the extra paperwork and the MSDS.
I hauled hazardous for a few years, and I'm certified to handle the stuff with heavy equipment. Sometimes, hazardous is sweet duty, with mandated safety stops, having other people clean out your truck, etc. Other times, whey you're still doing your own cleaning and such, it's a pain.
I thought about it too, but I don't want to haul Haz-Mat unless its ammo or explosives. Hoping for some "extra" stuff to come my way.

He's been in Congress for over 2 decades, & has no meaningful legislation to his name. 1 bill, a measure authored by Paul that was ultimately enacted allowed for a federal customhouse to be sold to a local historic preservation society (H.R. 2121 in 2009). That is it, & you think he can walk on water. But you know what, ANYONE can do it, you just have to wait until it's frozen solid. The guy puts pork barrel projects into spending bills, & then votes against them when he sees it has the votes to pass.
