Why can’t Democrats leave the stage gracefully when they leave office?
The Columbus Dispatch is unhappy with former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. Very unhappy. And we can’t imagine that the residents of the Buckeye State are thrilled with him, either.
There is a long tradition in American politics in which an outgoing elected official says his goodbyes and then clears the stage for his successor. Even after bitterly fought campaigns, losing officeholders who take the high road during and after the transition are respected for their graciousness and dignity.
Newly-elected Ohio Governor John Kasich wonders if former Governor Ted Strickland is tetched in the head
At the very least, this conveys respect for the office, and equally important, it shows respect for the will of the voters who decided that someone new should take the helm…
Sadly, former Gov. Ted Strickland has not taken that high road, instead choosing almost from the moment the November ballots were counted to try to torpedo his successor, Gov. John Kasich.
Of course, this is his prerogative. He is an Ohioan fully entitled to participate in politics and express his views. But most politicians do not choose to end their careers and cap their legacies by engaging in sour-grapes sniping and public efforts to undermine the successor whose administration is barely under way.
Let’s see now. Gerald Ford left the stage gracefully. Jimmy Carter is still spouting off. Ronald Reagan left the stage gracefully and so did George H. W. Bush. Bill Clinton is still screaming, “Hey, look at me!” George W. Bush retired gracefully. And let us put ourselves out on the line here and predict that Barack Obama is never, ever going to leave the spotlight.
So based on this quick review, it’s clear that the Columbus Dispatch and IHTM have misunderstood that long-standing American tradition. We now realize that outgoing Republican officials retire gracefully, but Democrats never stop annoying their constituents.
And don't forget the Clintons taking art off the walls of the White House when they left, not to mention dinner services and breaking the W off the computer keyboards.
It was reported in Time magazine, so it MUST be true, right?
Can anyone say sore loser? What at putz. Whining because someone is now cleaning up the damn mess that he helped create, higher taxes, no jobs, and a very piss poor public education system, sounds about right to me. Shot Gov Kasich should be the one shouting from atop the largest building in Columbus about the utter mess that the state of Ohio was left in when he took office.
NO the good governor is about doing the job he was elected to do. Straighten out Ohio as best he can.
A last another sore loser who cannot stand to be put aside and on the shelf or politics. It’s time to grow up former governor and be somewhat of a productive citizen.
Even when they're crooks, Democrats don't go away. Look at Daschle - booted from the Senate for ethical violations, then booted from his nomination to HHS because he didn't pay his taxes. Wait a couple years and he'll be getting booted from something else for being a crook. Democrats are like zombies who never die.
Liberals = Sore losers. Liberals = Arrogant winners. Liberals = Fight to keep their sins in the dark, and fight to keep their faces in the spotlight. It is really as simple as that.
Once again Kimmy, you have crystallized my thoughts exactly!
The only thing I would add to your post is: Libtards = The turdz that requires multiple flushings to make disappear down the toilet bowl.
The problem with liberals is that they are almost always successful in clogging up the toilet so it takes someone else to come and fix it. It is pretty much the same story 99% of the time. Liberals make a mess and don't go away and someone else has to do the work and once they are done they go away quietly.
"...but Democrats never stop annoying their constituents."
This is not unique to former officeholders. Let's remember, annoying their consituents is what they were doing BEFORE holding office, and during their tenure. Why should we expect anything else when they leave office?
How much face time would this putz get if the LSM (MSM only worse) wasn't out there carrying water for him every time he turned around? These Diptard crybabies would all be dead and forgotten, like US history is in US skroolz, if it weren't for the professional butt kissing taking place right in front of our eyes!
under the skin of every democrap is a would be dictator for life.
What about Al? He never won in 2000 and he is still ungracious and loud.

Love the synopsis of who has been a graceful former POTUS and who hasn't. It's shockingly clear. Will we EVER be rid of Jimmie or Willie? God only knows how bad it's going to be after BHO, assuming there is an "after BHO." There will be, right?
