Hillary Clinton promised that she would use Smart Power™ as Secretary of State. You know, instead of that Dumb Power the Bush administration apparently used.
Mediaite.com reveals how that’s working out in Egypt:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Cairo this morning, but she won’t be meeting with a coalition of six youth groups that emerged from Egypt’s revolution last month. In a blunt snub, members of the January 25 Revolution Youth Coalition said “based on (Clinton’s) negative position from the beginning of the revolution and the position of the US administration in the Middle East, we reject this invitation.”
ABC News reports a Clinton spokesperson had no immediate reaction to the snub, but a State Department official told the network a meeting had been planned for Tuesday, and Clinton still plans to meet with “members of civil society and transitional government officials” as she urges “Egyptians to continue on the path toward democracy.”
“Members of civil society.” Take that, uppity Egyptian youth groups. A stinging rebuke from Ms. Pants Suit Smart Power™.

I don't blame them a bit for fronting her off, I wouldn't follow this skank to a bordello!

Damn, so she banned herself from her own meeting? Pretty slick way to duck out for partying (see navyvet post) without loosing face. No matter what you think of their politics, you gotta admit those Clintons are slick as hell.
Phileas Fogg is on TV right now....just before hip-hopping down to Rio!
To support his homeys in Brazil instead of companies in the US.
But they were for the change, before they were against it, after they were for it, while they were remaining neutral. No wait, they were not supporting Mubarak, or maybe they were supporting Mubarak....or was it Pharaoh....no it was Yul Brenner that's who the regime was supporting.....at least I think it was.
Why is the US considered to be led by buffoons by the people in the Mid East? It's all so complicated, lets go golfing in Bali Hai. Warm up AF1, call my homeys, it's party time.
As a side note Yul Brenner would have been awesome as President of the USA man.
They know an arrogant self centered bitch when they have been sold out by one. Now if the USA students would garner the same intelligence, life would improve.
She 'aint no ways taard.
This administration has single handedly brought down the USA's standing in the world. We are now seen as week and cow-towing to everyone. Thanks, Obama, great legacy.
Bush was not perhaps that well spoken and what not, but one thing I know, people in the Middle East respected him and thus the country even if they hated us. Now they hate us and they laugh at our weakness. Not a good look. Not a good bargaining position either.
weak, now seen as weak, :)
She's trying to meet with people that consider women chattel. For her own safety, she better leave there lickety-split.
But Obama sent her because her balls are bigger than his.. It is like been within a rock and hard place. Overall she has nothing to do there in my opinion, but I could be wrong.
Think the vast majority of Americans would prefer she stay right there. Could be the youth groups do not want to meet with her because of the administrations indecisiveness, while waiting to smell the political winds, the youth there realize she cares nothing about them or what form of government they live under, its about power, potential advantage to her or the current administration. Nobody trusts the clinton's much less her boss.
I have a feeling that there are a ton of people around the world who don't see this White House as one that can be relied on if the is trouble. Ask Iranians who wanted to overthrow their regime in 2009, if any are still alive or not in prison.
