Here’s race con man Al Sharpton at the NAACP State Convention:
“My point is that they are advocating states rights which they are, immigration, they want Arizona to be able to supercede federal law and in other areas. States rights has always been the enemy of civil rights. The idea of the civil rights movement was for the federal government to protect citizens, not leave them alone. So that the basis of the Tea Party is antithetical to civil rights.”
Contrary to what Sharpton has to say, we’re pretty sure you can be for states rights and civil rights. But odds are you’ll be against civil rights scammers.

He spins the tale of States rights as portrayed through the eyes of Calhounism of the 1830s rather than the framers eyes of 1787. He may be waning in overall influence yet many will embrace his spin. The challenge of overcoming the fear of another 'States' rights' movement must be tackled by all who understand the 10th Amendment and embrace the States responsibility to interpose, through nullification if necessary, when the general government is out of line. Words are tricky and when we use the term 'States rights' we aid in the confusion. It boils down to citizen's rights which include all citizens and it is not a States' right...it is both the State and citizen responsibility. Yet Sharpton's spin will win without our corrective tact in altering the terminology, changing the name game to the right names.
