America’s top ten local talk show hosts: #1 – Tim Conway/Los Angeles

Tim Conway, Jr
KFI/Los Angeles
Monday-Friday 7-10 pm

If Tim Conway, Jr worked on any station in the world except KFI/Los Angeles, he’d be a household name. Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be), he works on the number one talk station in the country, KFI/Los Angeles, a station packed with so much talent that he finds himself relegated to 7-10 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Conway’s quirky, funnier than hell, unafraid to take an unpopular position, and the creator of What the Hell Did Jesse Jackson Say? That alone is enough to make us love him.

And, yes, his father is that Tim Conway.

Here’s Conway riffing on Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and The View:

And here he is playing the hilarious game What The Hell Did Jesse Jackson Say?

Listen to Tim’s show live from 7-10 pm PDT or catch his podcasts any damn time you want.

  • Think we've missed the boat here. Although many of these folks are quite good, the best, in my not so humble opinion is Chris Plant in DC. He is though provoking, and is not afraid to tell it like it is.

He ranks right up there with Levin and Rush......

Did you analyze him at all for this list?

  • Are you guys nucking futs? I've got Tim Conway on, on KFI. He's been on for six minutes. He started on a guy who wanted to commit suicide and was hell bent to kill himself. , then onto some woman who wanted to break a child's arms off and eat them. Next, after the ads we will hear all 2000 calls to 911 from one woman. And this is your #1? Here is a simple talent radio test: Is your radio more intelligent on or off? If your answer is OFF, then change channel.

    • I believe there was an explanation for that - was it because they were already a big hit and IHTM is trying to bring us some new voices? I think that was it.

Everybody aleady HEARTs John and Ken.

      • Exactly right, Barb. We love John & Ken. They are insanely talented, but Conway and the others on the list deserve more attention around the country.

  • If for no other reason than "What the hell did JJ just say?", Tim is a good listen. The JJ segments are insanely funny.

Oh, damn. I must be a racist.

  • After moving to AZ from the LA area, I was glad to have I Heart Radio on my iPhone so I can listen to Tim. The guy is great! Good pick for No. 1

  • Yesterday I had guessed John&Ken would be #1. I listen to Conway every night too. Consider me pleased my first guess was wrong.

  • Good choice! While I lived in the Bakersfield, Taft, Maricopa, Pine Mountain Club areas I listened to Tim all the time. I loved his show and liked his show format. I'm not sorry I moved from the land of my birth though! Maybe if they ever decide to split the sheets and Bakersfield or Modesto or Fresno becomes the new border area between the communist North and the rational South, I might just move back! I won't be holding my breath!
