Karl Rove trashed Delaware’s new GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell on Sean Hannity’s show last night. And it’s painful to watch.
Rove proved he’s a member in good standing of the Official Inside the Beltway Republican Establishment. No congratulations for O’Donnell, no job well done, just petulant whining and mocking from The Architect.
Isn’t Karl Rove the architect of the Republican strategy that led directly to the election of Barack Obama?

I don't know what is going on with Karl Rove. Recently he was making disparaging remarks against Sarah Palin trying to sideline her before she even commits to wanting to be President. It is possible the woman is not closing any doors but so far I dont see any interest on her part to be President. I think she is very happy where she is at, and trying to sideline her or preempt her seems like a stupid move and a waste of time when there are SO many issues at hand.
The entrenched Repub. elitists are as scared of the independent midned tea party type candidates as the Dems. are, and for obvious reasons. This new breed of candidates, with a enough numbers in the Congress will be a crows the establisment crud won't be able to intimidate, buy out, bribe, or anything else in order to control them...and THAT scares these entrenched crooks all to hell...and I for one am thrilled to see them wetting themselves over the soon to be loss of their stranglehold on MY country.
Karl Rove happens to be correct. I am not part of the establishment, Washington or Republican. But I see O'Donnell negatively as a candidate, and ultimately, she is a liability in an election and in the remote case she would win.
This Republican and conservative who cares about winning and having a stronger, fiscally responsible, low tax, higher moral country free of the sophistry that killing a baby in the womb is a "choice" or that abusively soaking the more successful in our society and spreading it to those who did nothing to get it, wants to preserve the simple truth that just because a candidate talks "our language [of conservatism]" doesn't mean she should represent us.
Simply put, I see enough in O'Donnell to recognize she is not worthy to lead and hold office in our party. We must not be deluded by her rhetoric and assume she's qualified. She is not. Supporting her is foolishness.
I don't question the sincerity of your concern, but I rather disagree. Noting the term "liability" that you used, I see her ( and any Tea Party-endorsed candidate) as a liability to the "Good Old Boy, business as ususal" Congressional network, whether Democrat or Republican. Both Parties are running scared of the idea of being REDUCED to again being civil servants rather than rulers of the people and dispensers of "pork"( paid for by our tax dollars, of course).
The days of the "Good Old Boy" Republican big tent are past. For too long they have stated broad platforms that tried to please everyone. If by chance a candidate was elected he/she was too often absorbed into the "Good Old Boy" network, hence the term RINO ( Republican in Name Only). Incumbancy is a powerful drug, and many will do anythng to maintain it. "Our motto: 'We're against it--unless we can get a Committee appointment by supporting it'."
The general populace is becoming aware that Constitutional law and our Constitutional freedoms are under attack by the current political powers, and have been for many years at least since W. Wilson et al. The choice today appears to be down to either death to Socialism or death by Socialism. Would you concur?
How many incumbent Republicans ( or Democrats) are campaigning for a reduction of federal Executive, Legislative and Judicial powers back to onlythose such as are enumerated by the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, with ALL OTHER POWERS not specifically granted to the Federal government being assumed by the individual States as per the 10th Amendment? Hmmm? Gee, that could mean, among other things, an end of taxation by burocratic regulation/mandate as the various alphabet Agencies are deemed illegal and disbanded, and as the plethora of Czars are sent packing.
Have you observed either Ms. O'Donnell's primary opponent or her Democrat opponent stating they support Constitutional government rather than maintaining the status quo of "Good Old Boy" cronyism and self-serving politics ?
Facts, man. Give us verifiable facts. We LOVE facts.
If inexperience is a disqualifing factor, why is no-judicial-experience Ms. Elena Kagan now sitting on the US Supreme court? Why do we have a community organizer turned 1-term Senator now holding the office of President? Is personal integrity an issue? Shall I mention the IRS head that was extremely delinquent in paying HIS income taxes? Shall I mention the Health Care bill that was finally passed by the time-tested method of threats, intimidation and vote-buying aimed at the various hold-outs in Congress? One could go on and on, but I believe you see the general thrust. It's past time for "business as usual".
Simply put, the Tea Party endorsed candidates present a threat to the entrenched powers, those persons/Parties committed to maintaining the status quo in Washington and State capitols, by their insistence on Constitutional limitations and States Rights. I believe that if elected they will put feet on their talk and walk the talk, and that scares the political powers and other folks feeding at the taxpayer-supported public trough, from the POTUS on down to the government-supported "plantation people".
Your comments are thoughtful. I agree with the sentiment behind them. However, what you assert is an ideal rather than a practical reality. O'Donnell will lose and lose badly. I see this as a waste because the real issue is regaining the US Senate back from leftist control. Castle would have caucused with the Republicans. Now, Coons-a bona fide leftist-will win. That is beyond regrettable.
If you would rather assume the Don Quixote role and just hopelessly make a statement against the establishment, knowing you won't win, go ahead, as it is your prerogative. But I choose to seek a path to victory.
Karl Rove was correct in his analysis. And do you think he would not rather see a Senator O'Donnell over a Senator Coons? Rove's point is the salient and ultimately dispositive one, we need to back candidates who can win, a view promoted by the father of modern intellectual conservatism William F. Buckley, Jr. A conservative in a 'blue" state might be a moderate or liberal in a "red" state. It is relative to geography and ideology.
I cannot agree with your position in light of the painful loss the Delaware seat represents.
(I'm ex-Navy too)
Castle is was not a reliable vote for the GOP, & thus, he is worthless. If he is gonna basically vote for Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Soros bills, & he does, he might as well be a Demacrat. But he's been doing it with GOP money, So at least with O'Donnell going to the general election in November, conservatives, Republicans, & the people of Delaware will have a clear choice. They can vote for "a goofball", or they can vote for a self proclaimed marxist.
I think that Republican money spent on turncoats like Castle is more than just wasted. It dilutes actual conservative representation and it drives people away from the party. If the Republican party doesn't do us the favor of imploding, then the people driven away split the vote, guaranteeing the win to the Democrats.
Sometimes, I think that's their strategy, and why O'Donnell's victory scared the shit out of Rove et al.
That's true too. Comservatives want to give to elect conservatives, not RINOs.
BTW, is that your dog in the photo? Plus what breed?
Wife's dog. Miniature schnauzer.
He is very cute.
Yeah, that little dog gets more lovin' than I do. ;-)
LOL :-)
I agree, but then again, almost all dogs are cute. Dogs are great.
There are SOME dogs that are NOT cute at all. lol Bulldogs do nothing for me.
This is exactly why we need to vote out incumbants. They are so out of touch with the population and so involved with working together to line their own pockets, that they accomplish nothing. It is our fault for voting party lines instead of voting for the person. Maybe O'Donnell will be a freat candidate. Maybe she won't. But isn't it time some new blood was infused into the system? We cannot keep running 70 yo men for President. Look at the Republican party-who even looks like they may run against Obama. A lot of people voted for Obama as a default candidate (bet they are sorry now) because they disliked him less than than they dislike McCain. The party needs to be encouraging younger people to get into the races, support them, and groom them for eventual runs for higher office, even if it is from dog cathcer to city councilman.
Rove is the jackass behind the Bush administration's imbicilic push to flood the U.S. with third-worlders (who would of course be so impressed en masse by "compassionate conservatism" that they would all register as Republicans!) Fox should be ashamed for giving this jerk a forum.
Why does Carl Rove have any political credibility any more in the first place. He says some good things, I get that. But dude has the the name the "Architect" for a reason. He is part of the reason why we are in this mess in the first place. He was not the head coach of the most "small government" administration in recent history.
Thank God small government American conservatives are finally waking up to the fact Rove is, and always has been, a complete fraud. The "Architect" - of "compassionate conservatism", of big spending, and of doing a war half-assed in order to not inconvenience the electorate. How this ass-clown rose to prominence on Fox News and WSJ.com amazes me. Hopefully now Hannity and the others will shun Rove, and he will go hang out with David Brooks and the other inside-the-beltway sychopants....
HEY " TURD BLOSSEM " your "gig " is over . It is time to kick all the RHINOs to the curb . REMEMBER NOVEMBER
O'Donnel has just raised $500k since last night. Can you think of a better way to tell Karl Rove to F-off?
Rove is Bush's fault.
That's funny!!! :0
Or maybe everything Bush is taking the rap for is Rove's fault!
You know what? that is actually very likely. Rove has a lot of good points but in this one was a major fail. So far he hasn't apologized for his elitist statements.
