Holy moly: Bill Maher tells Muslim Congressman that the Koran is a hate-filled book. And worse.

bill maher

Somebody get us the smelling salts because we’re feeling a little faint. HBO’s Bill Maher went off on pseudo-crying Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison. If he gets sued, we’re pretty sure he’ll cop the temporary sanity plea.

Mediaite.com has the remarkable turn of events:

Ellison, who was raised Catholic, said he was drawn to Islam initially due to a message of “inclusion and “social justice,” and spoke of the need for “religious pluralism” in society. It was smooth sailing at that point – Maher even said “right on.” But then, Maher went off on radical Islam, deeming “the threat, potentially, from radicalized Muslims…a unique and greater threat” – one, he said, that’s in its “medieval era.” In addition, he cited “trying to get nuclear weapons” and a “culture of suicide bombing.”

But that paled next to Maher’s criticism of the Qur’an, which he called a “hate-filled holy book…which is taken very literally” by radical Islamic terrorists. Ripping suicide bombers is one thing…maligning the holy book for the entirety of Islam is quite another. Ellison, of course, disagreed, saying Maher was “lumping together things that shouldn’t be lumped together,” and that terrorists “take things out of context to do what they want to do” – in fact, that “terrorist rhetoric” has little to do with religion at all.

Maher allowed that the “vast, vast giant majority of Muslims aren’t the problem,” but added that with terrorists, “it just takes one.” Maher also seemed unconvinced of Ellison’s Qur’an defense, even as Ellison cited a passage that claims that taking one life is akin to killing the whole world, and saving a life is like saving the entire world: “Am I getting the wrong translation? ‘Cause that’s what every Muslim always tells me.”

Maher’s Hollywood friends – we know you’re probably wondering how someone as vile as Maher could have friends, but please note that we said Hollywood friends. Everyone knows that Hollywood friends have nothing in common with real friends. Hollywood friends are just people who do that Sopranos hug and back slap thing to people they secretly loathe at awards shows and then pray that the person they’re hugging and slapping never gets another role because that would be one less role that they could get and Hollywood is fueled by equal quantities of jealosy and deception. And, of course, cocaine…

Anyway, as we were saying, Maher’s Hollywood friends are undoubtedly staging an intervention at this very moment.

  • That was retaliation for the sake of most of us. By 'fed' I'm wondering if you mean I antagonized it (the messenger of allah). That may have been another waste of time. Habeeb was spewing pure evil, and I wouldn't accuse you of that. You're more like a toy...something to play with. We probably have more in common than not. Looks like we both have guns. Neither of us have a Prius. We don't watch the talking turd, Bill Maher.
I was going to suggest you change your screen name to 'the typing turd', but I realize that I can honor your opinion, and only aspire to be able to formulate coherent arguments in the future. As for 'explaining myself'...you're a smart guy (test scores?) figure it out.

    • Not watching the talking turd is a helluva a thread of commonality.

I just love it when we can find something to agree upon!

  • Wow, that's quite a manifesto. I hope this has been entertaining to the rest, but I think we're waisting their time. Like I wrote before, the big picture is more important than both of us. Not just because you come off as very small.
You started the name calling 'jackass'. You revealed a lot of information, including scores that were lower than mine. Your resume didn't include what your profession was, "I got work" was used as a past tense. You get into arguements with liberals at work. Really. Is that why you post at 9:30 in the morning on a Monday? Birther is also name calling, kinda like tea-bagger. The Christian thing does not insult me, as my Lord would have me love everyone, including you. I didn't see you step up when the Jihadist was posting hate mail. I think we're done. The only thumbs up you're getting is the one you're sitting on. Go back to the 'birther' page where we met. Most of your posts are now hidden. It's like every time you type you put your foot in your mouth (see above manifesto). On that page you mentioned your daughter, which I guess is a gun. That was supposed to threaten me? My gun's bigger, and, you ain't my 'bro'. Remember: Thumbs down can nean "I don't like your comment", it can also mean, "You're an idiot"

    • I called you a jackass because you questioned my patriotism. No other reason. Apologies if that hurt your feelings, but there is a chronology to this. You were quick to deploy this strategy, too, so you must think it works.

Maybe you can't formulate a coherent argument like a Perlcat or an Andre, and that's all you got. I presume you questioned my patriotism because I'm not a birther, but I'm just guessing. Maybe you can explain yourself?

Then you assigned me a Prius for a vehicle, and a bumper sticker. This is your little fantasy. Now you are confusing my daughter for a gun. Can't I have both? Usually its gun-control freaks who question me on that front.

And Birther is now some form of name-calling? Even though you only first noticed me on the "birther" page, where Editor (i think) talked about Trump's "Birther" Credentials? You must be a very sensitive individual

Dig around. I'm pretty sure i got to the "Jihadist" around the same time did, if not before.. You fed the hell out of that troll

  • You have strayed from your usual Shakespearean handle of the English Language. I'm not impressed with your vocabulary on this site, or your vernacular, for that matter, not knowing where an alien or illegal alien comes from. We speak the King's English, here, and your comment is written as a more sober (than you) guest of this site would write. Nice shot at asking if I'm an alcoholic...return fire for posting that 'you write like a drunk'. As I recall on that specific page of our dialog you got more thumbs down than I've ever seen. Must be some kind of a record. You just kept typing stupid shit. Some people don't know when to stop. Here's some King's English for you: You're an idiot

    • Likewise.. You have nothing but personal attack. You opened your little war with me by questioning my patriotism, and seem intent on getting me to cry about downvotes. Look, here's Me Not Giving a Sh-t: 8|

I'll assume, due to lack of retaliation, you don't agree with Maher when he says Islam is an inferior culture for keeping its women in beekeeper suits. Also, I hope to burn a Bill Maher Talking Point into your brain forever. It will be as if you were infected with a liberal meme. BeeKeeper Suits.. Squirm now. Islam.Is.Inferior. You're welcome.

As I see it, you fain heap scorn upon me because I'm not a Birther. Welcome to Most of the Country. (how's 'fain' for Shakespearean, ya bloody minstrel..?)

      • That rant was a cry for help. I saw Maher on O'Reilly tonight. I hit the mute button, something I wish worked for you. My satisfaction lies in knowing you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. You voted for Obama, because you're an idiot, uninformed voter. This is where America stands, regardless of where that commie was born. And, if the likes of you votes for him again, you'll get what you deserve (kind of like getting beat up by a woman, again). If by retaliation you assume I'm giving you 'thumbs down', you're mistaken. You're a petty loser. You should avoid casting spells on people you don't know. That curse will be a problem for you.

        • Wrong, again. Its not yet a rant, nor even a screed. I don't need help from you, nor any amongst the internet horde. My mute button functions normally. I didn't see O'Reilly tonight, yet he obviously has more steel in his gut than you. Good for him.

I'm going point by point here. I'll spend more time on this one: Your satisfaction that I'm the "problem" is fu-king strange. Is that more satisfying than believing I might be part of the solution? How does that work? Does it require meds? You take greater pleasure in finding enemies around you? I've met the type.

Tell me, with precision, how I'm part of the "problem". Try not to rely on the mythical Obama Vote: I've already told you I voted Libertarian ticket (somewhat blithely, i confess, as some vague protest against the Two Parties). I've never taken welfare (not even Unemployment). I am married, make my kids do their homework, and get in debates with the liberals at work. I have 2 vehicles, both firing on internal combustion, and one car payment. I have no credit card debt--I'm done with them (as I've made clear to my wife). I am a gun owner, and not the slightest bit scrrd of anyone taking it from me. I pay my taxes. I barely use doctors. The wife nags about that.. but i run a lot and keep myself in shape

These are simple things. Where's the problem? Is it the God thing? The Birther thing? Is it my distaste for Kaliphate Kool-Aid? (We can debate the weaknesses of Beck's geo-military prognostications anytime, bud..)

By any metric I'm not an idiot.. but be my guest, use the charge as a crutch if it gives you tingles. My ASVABs were 95th+ percentile (except for @#*()@ Mechanical.. which was lower 80s.. dammit all). My SATs were pretty damn high, but i never finished getting a degree, because I got work, and college seemed like a big racket anyhow.

Enlighten me as to where I went wrong

So moving on: "(kind of like getting beat up by a woman, again)."

I don't know what that means. To what Woman delivered Beating do you refer? Maybe little more then senseless simile applied to a false premise.

"If by retaliation you assume I’m giving you ‘thumbs down’, you’re mistaken. You’re a petty loser."

Incorrect, by retaliation--your lack of--I meant this: You did not respond to the Bee Keeper Thing. You won't say if you agree with Maher on this. Since you continually refuse, I might surmise you disagree with his fundamental point on the inferiority of Islamic civilization.

"You should avoid casting spells on people you don’t know. That curse will be a problem for you."

Spells and curses now, eh? Am i a sorceror? Are we engaged in some whirling theurgical battle of wits now? Wicked..

  • @nonkenyan You must be some kind of weird shut-in who polices people's TV habits. Is that maybe something you want government to do? Are you also an alcoholic (since we are flinging baseless sh-t around)? Like I told you before, i haven't seen his show for years.. I won't pay for HBO and haven't for years.

The guy's been around forever, and since i take news from more than FoxNews and right-wing radio, its not hard to encounter his statements. I've EVEN SEEN HIM ON O'REILLY. The "Bee Keeper Suit" thing, regarding Muslim women, kinda sticks, don't you think? Its a funny image. Maybe you don't agree with Bill on this? You think its OK how muslim women are often forced to dress? Or somehow if you encounter the mighty Words of Maher, you are somehow *infected*? Man up, bro.. You can hear all sides and not have a hissy or start a TV pogrom

  • Maher's been saying this stuff for years.. It is no surprise. He has made jokes about their women being kept in beekeeper suits, and that the West is simply the superior civilization (which i agree with)

  • You can steal this original quote...Ignorant goes a long way with fools. REPARATION FOR ALL JEWS.

        • Or from the Babylonians (Iraq)
          Or from the Persians (Iran)
          Or from the Assyrians (Arabs)
          Or from the Russians
          Or from the Spaniards
... the French, the Poles, the Swiss bankers... and so on...

          They will be rich!

How to get some of that sweet sweet Jewish reparation money:
          1. Becoming Jewish
          2. Fight for reparations
          3. Hope they don't kill me in Iran when I go to collect

          Easy money.

  • Thing is, Maher makes a statement like this and I'm like, WOW, maybe, just maybe he isn't so stupid.... THEN he opens his mouth about and lumps the Tea Partiers in with the terrorist rhetoric or some KKK group in the very next sentence.

  • “'terrorist rhetoric' has little to do with religion at all"

Mr Ellison: the words in question are not the terrorists' rhetoric. It's what's in the Koran. Try to stick to the subject. And that subject is a lot wider than terrorists' words.

Such as the Koran-directed treatment of women. Care to tell us about all the love in that, Mr. Ellison? Or Dhimmitude? Or al-taqqyia?

And speaking of al-taqqiya, that should be on the list of questions to every muslim in every interview:

"How do I know you're not lying to me just to manipulate my opinion?"

As for Maher and his unorthodox opinion on this, let's not make a big deal out of it. There are other examples of libs doing this sort of thing. It's really just a case out of the infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters (people under 30 - ask your parents). Sooner or later one of them will write Macbeth. But he's still not Shakespeare. Let's not forget that.
