The Boy Scouts belligerently boo the Bamster

The President of the United States traditionally serves as honorary president of the Boys Scouts of America. But when the 100th anniversary of the Boys Scouts rolled around in late July, President Obama was just too darn busy to attend the event in person. You know, that darn TV appearance on The View and a couple fundraisers for struggling Democrats just took precedence over getting together with a bunch of kids who aren’t old enough to vote once, much less several times.

But Obama did the next best thing – he taped a message that was broadcast to the 40,000+ Boy Scouts attending the National Jamboree in Virginia. The Scouts responded by enthusiastically booing the canned speech.

The Boy Scout Pledge says, “On my honor I will do my best
to do my duty to God and my country
….”

We’d say they did their duty.

  • As an Eagle Scout and also as one of the US combat troops in one of the combat units Obama conveniently forgot about when he pulled "all" the combat troops out of Iraq (last time i checked, it is still Baghdad outside), I feel completely qualified to commend these scouts and their actions.

    • Amen Brother, and thank you for your service. And know that you are not forgotten by us, but honored and revered.

  • Wow, (current scout here) Does Obama honestly think anyone will view him positively for blowing off such an important thing as our 100th anniversary? I guess he was never a scout himself. Ever since the creation of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, during the Taft administration, the President has always been very involved with the scouts (of course none so much as T.R.) but Obama's decision to ignore this occasion shows just how insignificant American tradition and youth are to him. The disrespect of booing him is far offset by his disrespect towards an organization that has been a part of America far longer than he has.
I sadly couldn't attend the Jamboree, I really tried, but I couldn't off from the work I'm doing to help my family get through the Obama administration. I would've booed him too.

  • Just saw where tha idiot in chief claimed his daddy fought in WW2. Niether one of them was of age. Another lie.

  • “Common Sense” skills -Necron @9:41 Yous silly, silly person. This just starts the slippery slope of responsiblity, self reliance, teamwork (vs alienation), asking for assistance etc...Your ideals are dangerous to the progressive worldview. We got a special "camp" just waiting for types like you! ?sarc off now.
Man that drivel was hard to think, let alone write! My headskull hurts.

  • Exactly KimmyQueen, I am beyond tired of liberals calling racist where it doesn't apply and then ignoring it when it is so out of bounds obvious and blatant. I do not respect liberals at all. I would have to believe an opponent to be intelligent and moral even if I disagreed with them to repsect them and I believe niether is true of liberals.

    • The thing with liberals is that they scream tolerance and open mindness to others but do not practice it. They expect others to turn the other cheek while they are the ones doing the slapping. It is all about their needs and wants and their point of view without consideration for the possibilities of there being something else. I have always said that liberals can be classified as insane.

  • This is what an idiot Democrat/Liberal/Progressive will say: "The Scouts are filled with white boys, so they are racists."

I am not a boy and I am not white but if I was in the crowd I would still boo. Obama sucks. 'nough said.

    • Would I be out of line by wondering if children in urban areas, many of them black or latino, would benefit from the Boy & Girl Scouts? Seems that these communities could make use of the leadership & life skills that scouting helps promote.

For the record, I have no connections in any way to Scout groups, except for maybe buying Girl Scout cookies.

      • Denzel Washington benefited greatly from a club it wasn't Boy Scouts but it was an after school program. He had a mentor that he loved. He keeps touting the benefits of mentorship and after school programs. It is especially necessary in urban areas.

      • Danybhoy, that was one of the reasons Scouting was instituted in the first place... to take kids from urbanized areas who knew absolutely nothing about nature, wilderness survival, hand craftsmanship, leadership, first aid, and a whole plethora of other "Common Sense" skills and give them an opportunity to be a part of an organization that could teach them these things and through trips to wilderness camps expose them to the real thing and let them test their skills first hand.

  • "What if our founding fathers had decided to “respect the office” of King George III instead of demanding freedom?" Necron, that is the point I was trying to make but you said it even better.

  • I agree with Ruben, DJ, your talking about a world from 50 years ago and in that world we didn't have a jackass for a president. If everyone kept silent in respect for the "Office of the President" it would be taken as agreement with his policies. Not only is he incompetent but he is trying to destroy this country, he is a communist, fk him. The scouts don't owe him anything.

    • Absolutely, positively right John. I understand DJ's point because that was the world I inhabited when I was a Scout. Hell, even though none of us supported him, I still shook hands with Jimmy Carter when he visited our Scout Jamboree in 1977. The major difference is, as misguided and lame as Carter's administration was, he was still an American born and bred with Christian values and a military background. He celebrated the bi-centennial and promoted all things American to the extent that we could respect him and the office he held... Osama on the other hand shares none of those qualities or virtues and has made his Anti-American agenda quite clear through every step of his life from birth to the present. We have come full circle back to what our founding fathers warned and fought against to secure a Free Republic. I applaud the Scouts for showing descent toward Osama... What if our founding fathers had decided to "respect the office" of King George III instead of demanding freedom?

  • Well, I'm probably going to catch hell for my response, but here goes....

Although I understand the Boy Scouts reaction, it's unfortunate that they chose to boo...it's a foregone conclusion that someone would get a video of it and post it on YouTube.

Having been a Den Mother and involved in scouting for quite a number of years and the proud parent of an Eagle Scout, the last thing I'd want my son to do is to boo the President...no matter HOW much I dislike him. I'm sure these same scouts would never have dreamed of booing Obama in person and they shouldn't have done so at the Jamboree either. This reflects upon them in a negative way and these days the BSA is a target for all the libs and groups that have tried over the years to force the scouts to admit gays etc. Years back, Clinton tried to ban the BSA from using federal lands due to discrimination of gays. The Supremes were about to rule that the BSA is a private organization and can prohibit gays from serving. They did just that in a 5-4 decision. Clinton got bit in the behind, because AG Janet Reno pretty much scolded him and said, "No can do!".

For those who don't know the Scout Oath and Law, I will bore you to tears now:
    SCOUT OATH
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
    and to obey the Scout Law;
    To help other people at all times;
    To keep myself physically strong,
    mentally awake, and morally straight.

    SCOUT LAW
    A Scout is Trustworthy.
A Scout tells the truth. He is honest, and he keeps his promises. People can depend on him.
    A Scout is Loyal.
A Scout is true to his family, friends, Scout leaders, school, and nation.
    A Scout is Helpful.
A Scout cares about other people. He willingly volunteers to help others without expecting payment or reward.
    A Scout is Friendly.
A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He offers his friendship to people of all races and nations, and respects them even if their beliefs and customs are different from his own.
    A Scout is Courteous.
A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows that using good manners makes it easier for people to get along.
    A Scout is Kind.
A Scout knows there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. Without good reason, he does not harm or kill any living thing.
    A Scout is Obedient.
A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobeying them.
    A Scout is Cheerful.
A Scout looks for the bright side of life. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy.
    A Scout is Thrifty.
A Scout works to pay his own way and to help others. He saves for the future. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property.
    A Scout is Brave.
A Scout can face danger although he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right even if others laugh at him or threaten him.
    A Scout is Clean.
A Scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He chooses the company of those who live by high standards. He helps keep his home and community clean.
    A Scout is Reverent.
A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.

OK, I'm stepping off the soapbox now.....

    • Respect is given , where respect is due . If people wont stand for anything , they will fall for everything

    • DJ, I can appreciate and understand your position; however, whether or not it is a matter of decorum for the Scouts to boo can be discussed by the leaders of the BSA. I say that their booing is a symptom of a growing, national frustration that the Infant-In-Chief has to own: you've been a really bad president if even the Boy Scouts boo you because you refuse to show up personally (amongst other factors).

      • Ruben, I agree.
My point of view was from my involvement with scouting for 12 years and what we tried to instill in our scouts and personally as a parent. Back then, it was pretty difficult to dance around the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal with a bunch of 13 year old boys and not get into a discussion that was sexual in nature, so politics was off limits. I'm sure the BSA leaders did address the booing, although it was probably handled by the individual Scoutmasters as it should be.

I do believe that the booing is a symptom of the issues with the Narcissist-In-Chief, although for the youngest scouts (10 years is the youngest), I doubt that they have capacity to understand the political/societal ramifications of O's policies...the same goes for my 10 year old nephew who declared to me in a disgusted tone, "Bush is an idiot!". He was just mimicking what he heard his parents say.

And yes, it is pretty bad when a President is booed by the boy scouts...it may be a first, but it's an indicator that we're nearing critical mass.
