U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen ruled that the DACA program was illegal because Congress never authorized it. Barack Obama created the program via executive action in 2012 after Congress failed to pass the DREAM Act.
“From this date forward, the United States of America, its departments, agencies, officers, agents, and employees are hereby enjoined from administering the DACA program,” Hanen wrote.
Gov. Abbott pledges to finish Trump’s border wall and use state troopers to arrest migrants. If they don’t stop this soon, they’ll soon be having the Battle of the Alamo again.
Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday said Texas state troopers will now begin arresting migrants crossing the southern border — a move that immigration experts say is legally dubious — and that the state will also pick up where former President Donald Trump left off building the border wall.
“Long term, only Congress and the president can fix our broken border. But in the meantime, Texas is going to do everything possible, including beginning to make arrests, to keep our communities safe,” Abbott said at an event billed as a border security summit in Del Rio. “We are going to do everything we can to secure the border and it begins immediately.”

The Texas Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the release of salon owner Shelley Luther, who was jailed for opening in violation of the state’s rules, as Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order retroactively eliminating jail time as a consequence for violating the state’s coronavirus restrictions.
Shortly after Abbott’s announcement, the Supreme Court of Texas ordered Luther’s release. An attorney for Luther, who is with her at the jail, told Fox News they don’t know the timing yet of when she will be freed.
