Chicago Democrat calls tax protests shameful, neglects to mention her convicted tax-cheat husband

Jan Schakowsky thinks tax protesters are despicable. Oh, did she mention that her husband plead guilty to tax fraud. Slipped her mind.[/caption]

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill., duh) took time out of her busy tax-and-spend schedule to denounce the Tea Party protests as “despicable” and shameful.”

In a statement, Schakowsky parroted Democratic/CNN talking points that the Tea Parties were “an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans.”

“It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt,” she said. “Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists and politicians.”

What her statement failed to mention was that her husband, lobbyist Robert Creamer, pled guilty to bank fraud and tax cheating in 2005. She also signed off on their tax returns.

If this is the most ethical and transparent congress in history, we can’t imagine what the most corrupt would be like.

  • I don't know whats worse, if she really believes the 95% of American tax cut thing or if she knows its a lie and she keeps parroting it.
Either way, ..... well, I just wish it were the 1800's again....

  • ocmadam,

I'm sorry if your small far-right wing brain stem can't comprehend English. All of this crap is just faux outrage from the failed and disgraced Republican Party. Nothing more, nothing less. The party that was supposed to be the Party of Responsibility turned into the Party of S/HE DID IT!

CNBC Video Of Peter DeFazio, Ya Know The Guy Who Wants To Shut Down Day Trading

Posted by Timothy Sykes on Thu 5th of Mar, 2009 03:00:06 PM

Remember when I posted about the Congressional proposal for a 0.25% trader tax? I asked everyone to sign the petition against this dumb piece of legislation and so far 46,000 people–basically all the hardcore traders in the US–have signed it–(weaaaaaaak, you need to send to non-traders too, anybody who believes in capitalism/market freedom)

Well, below is video of the dude who proposed the anti-financial-speculation rules, who doesn’t understand market liquidity and who is likely to get bludgeoned to death by any number of ugly looking day traders should the bill pass:

Listen to his smug little story and prepare to be outraged that he thinks the market is anything like the 1930s…when day trading wasn’t possible due to the fact that online discount brokers didn’t get invented until the 1990s!

The guy doesn’t seem to get his little rule is going to hurt the smallest of market players and especially ALL the online discount brokers…companies that each employ a few thousand people DeFazio.

My God, if these penny-stock-sap-like-unable-to-do-proper-research-half-brains actually have any kind of power, I just might have to run for Congress to smack these guys around a bit.

  • I called her Washington office when I heard about her comments. I asked the young man who answered the phone if he could confirm deny the comments. He confirmed her position at which time I asked him to tell her she was despicable and shameful for taking that position. What a POS

  • Fed Up,

By Hugo Chavez-style socialist rule do you mean that the people will profit from the oil companies? Shouldn't that be called Sarah Palin-style socialist rule? And about the illegal aliens...didn't Reagan sign into law the Simpson-Mazzoli Act which granted amnesty to 2.7 million illegal aliens? Did that lead to one party rule?

As for the "tax cheating," weren't the Republicans calling for a payroll tax holiday just the other week? Do you far-right wingers even know what this guy pleaded guilty to? Failure to collect withholding tax from an employee.

  • “Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year

Ok, that just bent the needle on the bullshit meter. They've merely shifted from direct collection to inflating more. It's all taxation.

  • Wake up America! Democrat frauds like Jan S. will consolidate their power if amnesty for illegal aliens is passed. We are headed towards Hugo Chavez-style, socialist, one-party rule.
