Minority is no longer a statistical concept. It’s no longer a racial concept. Unless, of course, you’re a member of a certain race.
The Chicago Sun-Times explains:
Mayoral challenger James Meeks came under fire Thursday for suggesting that only African-Americans should be eligible for city contracts set aside for minorities and women.
… “The word ‘minority’ from our standpoint should mean African-American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title,” he said. “That’s why our numbers cannot improve — because we use women, Asians and Hispanics who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against.”
Jesse Jackson immediately thought to himself, “Crap. What didn’t I think of that one.”

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of hearing blacks bitch and whine about how they're oppressed, etc, etc etc. They play the race card at every given opportunity, no matter what it's about. "I didn't get that promotion because I'm black!" "I didn't get enough ice in my water because I'm black!" "I don't have enough air to breathe because I'm black!"
Holy shit, really? I think the only true minorities anymore are people with enough common sense and intelligence to see through this smoke screen of ignorance and sheer stupidity.

I been in arguments with blacks about how they're great-grand-daddy was a slave and its all whitey's fault (even though when many immigrants first hit the US slavery was already abolished) and I've told them I'll pay for a one-way boat ride back to their mother-land. I've had that argument too. Been called everything under the sun, because somehow, because I'm White, supposedly I owned slaves. I guess when you have nothing better to do but draw welfare (that I pay for) and complain about how supposedly the "white man keeping you down" or whatever, it's easy to play the race card. The only people keeping blacks down are blacks.

Even if women (as one example) are half the population or a bit more and are not quantified as a minority they can qualify as a minority because still to this day women are not paid the same amount of money for the same amount of work that any man does. Also by saying that he is actually stating that black women cannot be considered a minority either because they are women which completely shuts his ideas straight to crap. Unless he means to tell me that only african american men are minorities and if he is going down that route if I could I would tell him that he can seriously kiss my behind. Black men may not make more or the same money as white men for the same work but because of being male they still get paid more than any color of skin women. Also not all but a considerable percentage do not own up to their responsibilities with children and women either. So please spare me the cry baby pose.

I think your stats are out of date....or at least will be soon. Men are being laid off at a higher rate in recent years and women have been attending college at a higher rate for a while.
Then there's the whole point that Larry Summers brought up that got his ass booted from harvard IRC. That men have a higher standard deviation of intelligence with slightly lower average than women so the top paying positions will naturally have more men in them, all opportunities equal.
None of this matters though, the point of the article is "GIB MUH GIB MUH GIB MUH!" and the rest is just a thin veil to half-ass disguise it.
Going to college is no longer (if it ever was) a true indication of future financial success... people like Glenn Beck, Bill Gates and so on prove that. There are so many college educated people who have nothing to show for it too. Many women may go to college, but many women do NOTHING with that degree as many still choose to end up being housewifes (nothing wrong with that) or move on to other positions that still incur lower pay than men. Those that choose to take time off to raise children find it hard to get back in the game and hence find themselves being back to square one. Men don't have that problem, because they cannot get pregnant (and can choose to not take responsibility for a pregnancy) and even if they choose to be married, they are not required to stay at home and take care of the kids. So they can CONTINUE to excel and earn more (college educated or not) because there is no interruption in their working years. Men being laid off en masse basically proves my point that men have the most jobs or at least had the most jobs. The only reason why they are being unemployed is because it is cheaper to hire women and younger people who do not demand (for many social reasons) higher pay for the same jobs and hours that a man usually gets paid for. College education may help, but regardless even if women attend more college that men nowadays women STILL do not get paid the same amount of money for the same amount of work. Who is talking about the "top paying positions"? I am talking about a woman getting paid less for doing any normal average job like a man is still on average lesser even though doing the same amount of jobs/hours. Also considering that women who are properly educated can excel in top paying positions (so this higher intelligence ratio is BS in my opinion) there are many social structures that may prevent a normal woman from attaining or keeping such a position in the first place.
In any case it doesn't matter because this is not about that it is about this man seemingly stating that only african american men can be considered minorities which is stupid.
Never mind the fact that only black men and not black women can be considered minorities is so UN-manly!
