Chris Matthews has officially run out of reasons to criticize Sarah Palin. Now he’s criticizing her handwriting.

Just as you can see Russia from Alaska, you can see Chris Matthews’ envy from across the street. As NewsBusters.org reports the story:

“She’s got to be smarter than this,” argued Matthews despite complaining moments later about how the former governor gives autographs: “She doesn’t write the book, and then she scribbles some indecipherable sign on the book as a signature.”

Is Matthews really contending that clarity of signature correlates to intelligence?

We decided to test Matthews’ unusual theory by comparing Palin’s autograph to President Obama’s. Since Matthews would undoubtedly say that Palin is far less intelligent than Obama, that difference should be clearly demonstrated in the “cipherability” of their signatures. Is it?

sarah-autograph

Hmmmm. Debatable as to which one has the more legible signature and therefore, according to Matthews, the greater intelligence. But our money’s on Palin. So just for good measure, we decided to compare their hurriedly scrawled initials, too.

We’d have to say it’s another toss-up. And therefore, either Palin is just as intelligent as Obama or Matthews is full of something that smells very, very bad.

But there’s one more signature that needs to be throw into this mix just for comparison purposes – that of Chris Matthews himself. Surely, after his comments about Palin’s signature, that of the MSNBC host must be a masterpiece of legibility. Or maybe not.

How’s that clarity equals intelligence theory working for you now, Chris?

There are many examples of Palin’s and Obama’s autograph available on the internet, but we could find just one example of the MSNBC host’s autograph. And that leads us to the inescapable conclusion that Matthews’ real complaint is that thousands of people line up to get Palin’s autograph, but no one ever asks for his.

Envy is such an ugly thing, Chris.

  • So, now the left are honing in on the crucial issues that might just finally make the world see that Sarah is the fraud they've always said she was: Signatures and sun visors! Says it all really.

  • Its sad that there are millions of hard working people out there everyday trying to make a living and ass wipes like Matthew's are making millions. For Christ sakes, the man spits and drools while he talks. You libs are brain dead.

  • If you have not read the book, you need to. The book reads like Sarah speaks when she is able to just talk freely. It's a good story.
I liked the part about her and Todd working whatever jobs they could find, she even worked processing fish. That's more tha I'm willing to do and hard, physical work does not scare me.
Are you aware that the whole pageant thing was to to get scholarship money? So she graduated in 5 years, she had no debt when she was done.
As governor, her renegotiating of the oil deal has proven to benefit everyone, as the oil companies have grudgingly admitted. Sounds like common sense to me. Yes I like her, got a problem with that???

  • Yes the point here is that Chris is grabbing at straws to try to remain relevant and to find something ELSE to criticize about her and demean her. It is all fear and stupidity.

  • @mikea - the point of the story here is not who likes Sarah Palin and who doesn't and what she did or didn't do right or wrong - the story is about Matthews making fun of her signature. Try to stay on topic. (I know it's tough with MSM cramming all the reasons you should hate her down your throat all the time, but be a big boy and suck it up.)

  • Aw come on Mikea, I think I found the troll that stumbled upon IHTM. It's you, you wanker. Sarah's signature is lyrical and lilting. Mine would be too if I had to sign at least 700 books in 3 hours(hell, after sighnig the loan docs for my house purchase mine's barely legible). The fact that she has not developed carpel tunnel is amazing. I am sorry that I did not make the 4 hour drive to her book signing in Coeur d'Alaine. When I heard that people were lining up the night before in 1 degree weather for a chance at 3 seconds with Todd and Sarah, I figured my odds of getting an autograph if I showed up at 10 am would be pretty slim. Turns out our future president stayed until all 900 who showed up got through the line. Bummer for me.
As far as accuracy, didn't AP sic 11 "fact checkers" on the book? How many on Zero's? (wait for it.... not one). I'm sure if there was any substance to your accusations it would be non stop in the lamestream press. NO candidate out there has had to deal with the intrusions and slander and lies that SP has. If there was dirt to be found, they would have already found it, instead they have to make it up.
    Get a life, you loser!!

  • Isn't she still out there pimping her book and telling people Obama is behind the new coins that do not include "In God We Trust" despite this being a W initiative and even Fox News clarified she evidently did not get the memo that Obama had nothing to do with this? If she looked like a troll we would not even know she existed let alone parading around the country. Even McCain's handlers acknowledge her numerous paper trails that contradicts the things she has stated in that how to succeed from the US comic book she is pushing.

  • I think it's time to yank all my money out of my accounts and hide it under my mattress so the Democrats can't get it.
