Is Obama a Christian? Chris Matthews doesn’t think you should take him at his word.

Why? Why would you take Barack Obama at his word when he’s lied about everything – and we mean everything – since the day he took office. Even before.

Republican Senate Minority Leader MitchMcConnell appeared on Sunday’s Meet the Press. MSNBC’s increasingly-wacky Chris Matthews accused McConnell of using super secret code language to send messages to birthers when he said, “The President says he’s a Christian. I take him at his word.”

The words “take him at his word” sent Matthews over the edge on Monday’s Hardball. He apparently got his hands on a birther decoder ring, because he informed his viewers that the words “take him at his word,” when translated, provide a “Pitch perfect dog whistle to the haters.”

And Matthews was just getting warmed up. He then came up with a grand conspiracy McConnell, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Rev. Franklin Graham to scare the bejeebers out of voters with a “message of fear.” They’re the ringleaders of “The right wing’s attempt to de-Americanize the President.”

Is it just us or is the left starting to sound increasingly desperate?

  • ahhhhhh.... o-kay, so Matthews didn't want to take what Mcconnell said at his word... He assumes for some reason that Mcconnell was not sincere in his statement. Why would he assume that? It is almost as if Matthews WANTS to believe the worst in others EVEN if there is no reason to believe it. Desperation yes but INSANITY definetly. That was insane.

  • Question for you guys -- how do you send Chris Matthews 'over the edge'? I thought he lived his entire pathetic existence over the edge. I'm pretty sure that his mama needs to have him committed.

Or is this some sort of zen koan, kind of like 'what is the sound of one hand slapping the sh*t out of a wacked out loser.'

  • This is even more insane than Maureen Dowd saying that she heard Joe Wilson shout "You lie, boy!" instead of just "You lie!" How did Chris Matthews manage to say all this with a straight face?

    • Historical correction - I read the column when it was published. She didn't HEAR him say "boy" but she KNEW he was thinking it, because he's obviously a racist.

  • Chris Matthews threw out a bunch of numbers not to cite the source of any of them...any 4 year old can do what he does. :D

  • Is Obama a Muslim or a Christian? Hard to say, the only religious instruction he had growing up was in the Muslim faith. But then he was a member of the reverend Wright's crackpot, racist "Christian" church for twenty years. I think Obama doesn't believe in anything except his moral and intellectual superiority over everybody and everything. Obama worships himself, something far more dangerous than him being a Muslim or a black nationalist Christian.

  • Poor Chrisie. Maybe he is too stupid to realize McConnell could just pick up his phone to give marching orders if doing so was his intent. But then again, maybe the troglodytes spittle-spraying rant was triggered by the baser realization that The One has lied every time his lips moved.

These poor MFM types have too much invested in bringing Obummer and his corrupt hordes to power to allow themselves the luxury of truth.

  • Aside from the "tingle up my leg" thang, all ya gotta know about Chris Matthews is his admission that it was his job to make the Obama administration a success. At that point, he shoulda been tarred and feathered, and run outta town on a rail. Anyone that would listen to one word this guy has to say is a flat-out moron...because he has absolutely zero credibility as a journalist...

  • Obama, himself, is doing a pretty good job of convincing people he isn't a Christian. Personally, I think he's an atheist with Muslim tendencies. Pretending to be a Christian is solely for political gain. He prefers a golf green or a basketball court to the sanctuary of a church.
