A few years back, some wit asked the question, “What’s the world coming to when the biggest golfer in the world is black, the biggest rapper in the world is white, and the biggest guy in the NBA is Chinese?”
Tiger Woods, Eminem and Yao Ming have all hit on hard times since that observation was first made, but worry not because nature abhors a vacuum and the Democrats have come up with a couple equally unlikely occurrences:
Story #1: Christian militia member is a Democrat
“Most of the indicted militia members accused of being anti-government extremists have active voting records, a check with area voter registration offices showed yesterday. One is a registered Democrat, and the party affiliations of the rest could not be determined. Jacob J. Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio, voted as a Democrat in the 2004 and 2008 primary elections.”
Story #2: 40% of Tea Partiers are Democrats or Independents
The national breakdown of the Tea Party composition is 57 percent Republican, 28 percent Independent and 13 percent Democratic, according to three national polls by the Winston Group, a Republican-leaning firm that conducted the surveys on behalf of an education advocacy group. Two-thirds of the group call themselves conservative, 26 are moderate and 8 percent say they are liberal.
You know those dangerous, violent Tea Partiers that the democrats keep talking about? We think we’ve figured out who they are – other Democrats.

"Sound Chaser," baby! (And check out Steve Howe's acoustic album "Natural Timbre" for a solo instrumental version of "To Be Over.")
...This is so much more pleasant than discussing how my family went insane.
I can only imagine the sense of relief by diversion from the thread's origins. If you would like to blast some old music talk, I'd like to participate. Got a facebook account or whatever? I'm on there. Be happy to yak old yes n shiznit. The Relayer tour was my first YES concert. Madison Wisconsin's Dane County Coloseum. Quad sound - lame. No Rick Wakeman but Moraz was astounding. Bruford had advanced to King Crimson by Topographic as I recall, so it was Mr. White with the lead pipe in the drawing room. Unbelievable show. Got to see them 20 times or so over the ensuing years in various manifestation, obviously.
Hmmm... How would I post my real name or email on a web-site comment section like this? I require a certain amount of anonimity in my chosen field of work, so my "secret identity" here is rather precious. But I wouldn't want to miss out on the opportunity to discuss the splendors of great music!
I have no need to maintain my secret identity, but the public one is not exactly something I wanna blow out this horn section... I could picture an onslaught of unwanted crapaloosa. Interesting question! How would we do that? I would mind letting the Admin giving my email to you. Maybe one of em got no problem with that. There is a Yes ( and of course most every other band) group on Faceboot. I watched em for awhile. Think it puked out.
I'm a registered user here. Not sure if you can get my email out of my profile or what. Yeah, maybe check with Admin?
Sorry about the delay agian. busy around my locals. I just contact this webmaster to check if I'm already registered or not. If I am I'll get the refresher on my login, elsewise I'll be signing up. So, I'll keep watchiong here in the meantime.
The makeup of the militia movement ("Soverign Citizen" or white supremacist movement) would shock the press, and probably a lot of you as well. They are NOT in any way Republican. They get tagged with that because... I don't know... they have guns, I guess. Their movement is filled with anarchists and dope-smokers who despise big business; people who can't stand the idea of authority.
My family is neck-deep in it, in a "headed for federal prison" kind of way. Back in the '60s and '70s, they sported "Support Your Local Police" bumper stickers. But now they are convinced that the police (right down to every single beat cop) are in on a grand conspiracy.
When they started in the "sovereign citizen" BS, they were convinced that "since there's gold fringe on the flag in the court room, it's not a real courtroom! The Constitution's been suspended!" As they got deeper in, they told me that the Constitution "was shoved on the people in the dark of night! We already had laws in this country! The Constitution IS the conspiracy!" They became 9/11 Truthers. (I saw that one coming!) My brother (who has been with them every step of the way) got into polygamy and pot-smoking. (Pot-smoking has a conspiracy theory against it, so he's for it.)
Their religion? Well, that's weird. They used to be Christians. But the deeper they went into conspiracy land the more they threw Christianity out. My brother used to shout at judges that they were running "a court of Satan!" Now he doesn't even believe in Satan. They call God "Yahweh" and Jesus "Yeshua," but they don't believe much of anything in the Bible. So, you may ask, how do they know what Yahweh and Yeshua want? Well, it just so happens that Yahweh and Yeshua want them to do everything they happen to be doing! What a coinkie-dinkie! Kind of SEVERE narcissism, huh?
In the end (if this IS the end!) they are nothing but anarchists. They need to follow every disgusting whim that pops into their heads and feel that any communal concept is tantamount to communism. They believe in no legal authority, but claim, "That's OK. We're not going to do anything immoral, so why should there be any police at all?" Of course, I play along and ask, "What about all the OTHER people - the ones who WILL do something immoral?" Their answer: "If it affects us, then we'll deal with them." Yep. Anarchists.
They're a psychological train wreck. They proudly tout what the white man has done for civilization (he's so much better than "the mud races"). "We've built cathedrals and rockets to the moon!" Then, 10 seconds later, they tell you that those cathedrals are "idolatry." And their concept of paradise - everyone living in the hills with bottled water and shotguns; no centralized authority - can never build another moon rocket.
My warning to conservatives: Do not in any way defend the militia movement! Let them be hauled away and locked up.
That was an interesting read. Thanks for posting.
And that was the SHORT version! That was the "2-minute pop-radio edit!" The original was more "Tales from Topographic Oceans!"
When I see any news about militia movements (by whatever names they use), I just POP! This morning I saw your article and my fingers went went "typety-type-type-typety-type" for a small eternity. Then I stopped myself and cut it way down.
I should write a book on my family. It would be useful to slap down a lot of the conservatives who I hear grumbling that "those people are fed up with the government and they're taking more action than I am!" People need to see how radical and anti-civilization the militia people are. Stick to the Tea Parties, people.
BTW, I love your site!
Wow! I haven't thought about that album in a long long time. It had it's moments but I can only remember the name of one song from it. I was/am a huge Yes fan. Way out of place, this comment except for recognition of some old music you mentioned. Trimmed your original to, say, one side of Relayer, or perhaps as far down as Siberian Khatru all by itself from Close.
Don't mean to put some kind of levity on the gravity of your story here. No shiznit, you speak the truth, man.
Ha! I just listened to "Relayer" about an hour ago!
Thinkin... Gates of Delirium and To Be Over. Can't think of the other song. There are only three, correct?
Oops! Hit wrong button. Reply is bleow.
Wow. A rarity indeed! A neoconrightwingarmedextremistchristiandemocrat. And he votes! We'll he used to vote.
