There may not have been cheerleaders at the Super Bowl game, but there was one giant boob. Pop singer Christina Aguilera delivered her version of the national anthem, which varied slightly from Francis Scott Key’s version.
Here’s the video. Both version of the lyrics follow.
“Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.” (real lyrics)
What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.” (Aguilera version)
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”
Is it just us or is Christina Aguilera beginning to look waaaaay too much like Cyndi Lauper?

You honestly don't think the reaming word was a mistake? So calculated. Can't be patriotic and a Hollywood brat at the same time. She wanted to be cool. you know like the president when he refuses to put his hand on his heart when saying Pledge .
and another thing... what's with the pained I am going to crap my pants look? Did she need to go to the bathroom or something? Maybe that is why she fumbled.
I was in Blockbuster Video checking out some movies when the beginning of the Super Bowl was getting underway and I heard Chistina begin the Star Spangled Banner and to be truthful with you I hated her rendition from beginning to sorry end! Thankfully I rented some movies and left before I heard her totally finish, I couldn't bring myself to hear her finale.
There are still Blockbuster locations?? I did'nt know they were still around. That might be a bigger story then Christina Aguilera botching the lyrics of the national anthem, I just assumed evryone was doing Netflix.
BTW, her vocal gymnastics in trying to make more out of it then it is, is a bigger pet peave of mine then her goofing up the lyrics. Just sing the damn thing without all the needless range changes.
I read in a Business journal that they are battling against the bankruptcy. They are trying to emulate Netflix and although they have closed a lot of stores they are attempting to stem the tide... so let's see.
'Ya all mean, you expect that poor, poor lil' blondy girl, to remember a song that she's heard since she was knee-high to a 'bag of rocks' ? - that happens to be our 'honored' national anthem ? - then you didn't catch the reference to the, 'bag of rocks' ( think- 'stupid' as,) hey, she used to be pretty ( take a close look ), she's rich ( more than most ), used to be young ( or, has had one tough 'road to hoe' - from the looks of her), and - may even be - a 'bleach' blonde.
We here in America, don't have that much left, of the 'America' that was left to us, by our 'founding fathers', to still celebrate. So - PARDON US, if we get ' PISSY ', When Some lame 'Bimbo', screws - up - one of the truley nice 'bits,' - we have left.
That's "ROW" to hoe-reference to farming! Just saying. I liked the post! :P
Public school non-education?
I dont think she finished school, but I could be wrong. After all what is worst these days finishing public education or not finishing public education... ?
You'd think in a country of 300,000,000+ people the NFL could find someone (a Girl Scout, a Marine, a patriotic citizen) who could sing the National Anthem without screwing it up. Instead they pay a pop star nitwit to murder it before the biggest television audience ever.
P.S. PACKERS WIN!!!! There's joy here in Wisconsin.
Oh, and let me just add: On the bright side, the fact that she flubbed proved that she was actually singing LIVE!
That's WAY more important to me!
You want a crusade? How 'bout stopping the lip-synching?
Prepare to thumbs-down here!
I'm a performer and I've screwed up plenty. I've had nights where I jumped a whole verse (in some very famous "How can he screw that up?" songs), and the band had to jump over a bunch of music to catch up with me. Every single performer I know has done it. I've messed up some very famous lines of Shakespeare. Once in a whole month-long run of shows, it's going to happen.
I've seen the best musicians on Earth muck up their own songs! Songs they've sung for 40 years! I've seen Al Stewart mess up "Roads To Moscow" more than once. I even saw him abandon it, laugh and say, "Well, it's not going to happen tonight."
Is Christina a great artist? No. But she's good in her genre, I suppose. She just flubbed it.
It happens.
I dont think she would have messed up one of her songs... but I could be wrong...
I don't disagree with you, actors and singers can (and do) make mistakes but Chistina was singing just one song and singing it once; that's all she had to do and she couldn't manage it. The National Anthem is not easy to sing, but you'd think that she might have reheased it to avoid botching it before a national audience.
Thank God I skipped the half time show and missed the Black Eyed Peas dumbassed shout out to Obama.
Well let's just be succint about the whole thing. She couldn't carry a tune in a lead lined bucket.
I didn't like her interpretation even before she flubbed the words.
