Pardon us for stating the obvious, but it’s winter in South America. A damn cold winter.
People in tropical Bolivia are freezing their culos off. The frigid temps have killed an estimated 6 million fish, alligators, turtles and river dolphins.
They’ve also killed any semblance of balanced reporting.
Nature.com has details of the devastating deaths:
Scientists who have visited the affected rivers say the event is the biggest ecological disaster Bolivia has known, and, as an example of a sudden climatic change wreaking havoc on wildlife, it is unprecedented in recorded history.
Got that? It’s the biggest ecological disaster in the history of Bolivia. It’s unprecedented. Never happened before in history.
With such extreme climatic events potentially becoming more common due to climate change, scientists are hurrying to coordinate research into the impact, and how quickly the ecosystem is likely to recover.
Aha! Climate change is the culprit. So to review, the coldest temperatures in Bolivian history are caused by global warming. We should have known.
The blame lies, at least indirectly, with a mass of Antarctic air that settled over the Southern Cone of South America for most of July. The prolonged cold snap has also been linked to the deaths of at least 550 penguins along the coasts of Brazil and thousands of cattle in Paraguay and Brazil, as well as hundreds of people in the region.
Water temperatures in Bolivian rivers that normally register about 15 ˚C during the day fell to as low as 4 ˚C.
Hugo Mamani, head of forecasting at Senamhi, Bolivia’s national weather centre, confirms that the air temperature in the city of Santa Cruz fell to 4 ˚C this July, a low beaten only by a record of 2.5 ˚C in 1955.
First they boggle our minds by saying that the unprecedented cold was caused by global warming. Then, as if that weren’t confusing enough, they tell us that it’s not really unprecedented because it was even colder back in 1955.
All future “climate change” reports should be accompanied by a disclaimer that says, “Reporters may have difficulty keeping a straight face while telling these outlandish stories, but it generally gets easier with practice.”

I predict massive cooling for the next 4 or 5 months in the northern hemisphere with the onset of winter. A gradual warming trend will occur in the southern hemisphere.
I love how they list all the wildlife that died and then mention that hundreds of people also died.
Kind of shows the Green priorities, doesn't it.
It's almost as if God is making a mockery of these fools and their Green gospel, if not altogether.
If He is, it wouldn't be the first time. Overall look at what happened to the Grand Priest of the Gaia Religion (Gore) this year...
Gives new meaning to Kermit the Frogs line " It's not easy being green."
For 30 years now the noise level of the warmistas has been going up and yet here we are just like we always were , living. Hotter, colder, wetter, dryer but somehow much the same as always.
CO2 isn't the enemy. Fossil fuel isn't the enemy. The enemy is people spreading alarm and anxiety over our naturally changing climate so as to advance an anti people creed. They dress it up as anti business, anti globalization, anti capitalism but at bottom it is anti people. Anti people who haven't yet had the opportunity to develop and attain a standard of living that every warmista is enjoying.
There aren't too many people. There is plenty of energy available, not wind and solar which are weedy attempts at best, but oil, coal and most of all nuclear. Energy underpins all development including food and denying it to those who need it is plain wrong.
We need to protect our environment and the animals in it. Chopping down tress for fuel isn't a good idea, electrical power will slow that down as will crop genetic improvements as land use will be more efficient. People in the west should be funding rural electrification and power plants to drive it now so as to help the grindingly poor and desperate third world get going. Energy means jobs, means education, means smaller families, means better understanding and means BETTER GOVERNMENT.
This ridiculous harking back to a mythical halcyon past of rustic self containment is just criminal and condemning billions of people to a 3rd class world wind mills and solar panels is just selfish and cruel.
Joel, even your "golden" IPCC report is BS. The IAC (Aka: UN) has blasted them about using non-peer reviewed data (like magazine articles) and slinging BS all over and being too political. (http://bit.ly/d4nZgA). I suppose next you'll get some guns, strap on some bombs and take over I Hate the Media HQ and publish a list of demands on the internet. Warmer loons.
Who said any report made by leftist, tree hugging scientists that cannot even find matching socks would be accurate and unbaised??? Are you really using a UN agencies opinion to sell your point...hahaha.
Once you cut through the B.S. on both sides the facts are the facts.
Hey, hey, hey. Enough of that kind of talk. We have very heavy security here at IHTM World Headquarters. Not only do we work in a deep underground bunker, but we've recruited a band of Muammar Khadafi's hot Italian female bodyguards. They're not really that good at self-defense, but they do make you forget why you showed up at our door.
"...we’ve recruited a band of Muammar Khadafi’s hot Italian female bodyguards."
And the wife is OK with that?
Sssssssssh.
Hummmmmph.........where's my frying pan?
Go get him!
LOL
I have found a rolling pin is more effective. ;D
Rolling pin, AKA husband-tamer. ;-)
MAMA MIA!!!
Fish sticks for everyone!
Hmmm, fish on a stick. Maybe the failed original mark I proto-type for Eskimo Pies?
As much as I love your site with regards to fiscal issues and the libetards as a scientist I must address your complete misrepresentation of the facts.
I will try to explain this as simply and condescendingly as possible. Global warming is and will continue to wreak havoc on glabal weather patterns and ecosystems. Global warming does not mean that all areas of the globe will all be hotter it means that the whole world weather patters and temperatures will shift. So, some areas that were arid, dry and hot may now become wetter and colder where places that were cold in the past will become warmer. This is the world systems trying to reach a new hemeostasis and it will continue to be devastating. Ignoring this fact will only be at the detriment of our children and their children.
Joel, question. If some places get hotter, and other places get colder, how come is it that you guys continue to call it global warming? Isn't it something like,........redistribution of warmth? Taking from the haves and giving it to the have-nots? Isn't that considered to be a good thing in liberal circles?
Funny. Your attempts at big words fell flat once you misspelled global.
Gee. Sounds like a good time to get in on the ground floor selling HOCKEY STICKS.
BTW, thank you for sharing.
Ooow, you gave me a thumbs-down. Please, spank me again. Oh, it hurts so good. Yes, oh yesssss..
And thanks for sharing your opinion of my opinion. ( Gonna spank me again?) ;-) ( sarc never off )
Global warming is a vengeful God! Praise be to Gore.....
