We weren’t surprised to find out that former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was a participant in the latest Gaza “Peace Flotilla.” We were just surprised that the left wing lunatic took more than a week to spout off about it.
“What Israel engaged in was a crime against the people of Turkey, an international crime, committing an act of piracy, massacring people–which is murder–and kidnapping people,” McKinney said.
“I’ve been subjected to Israeli piracy, I was subjected to Israeli kidnapping, and I spent seven days in an Israeli prison only because I wanted the children of Gaza to be able to have coloring books, and crayons, and art paper. And to have a normal kind of school year like everyone else has for their children.”
“That was too much for the Israeli state.”.
Hey, wait just a darn second. This sounds like a virtual replay of an IHateTheMedia.com story from almost a year ago. July 2, 2009, to be exact.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McKinney was aboard a ship attempting to break the Israeli’s blockade of the Gaza coastline. The Israelis intercepted the ship, boarded it, and arrested nineteen of the 21 people aboard. McKinney was one of the nineteen.
The Greek-registered ship, carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, is officially named Arion but the U.S.-based Free Gaza Movement prefers to call it the Spirit of Humanity.
This is getting to be a habit, because McKinney was aboard another ship that collided with an Israeli naval vessel while trying to get to Gaza last December.
“This is an outrageous violation of international law against us,” said McKinney (D-GA). “Our boat was not in Israeli waters and we were on a human rights mission to the Gaza Strip. President Obama just told Israel to let in humanitarian and reconstruction supplies, and that’s exactly what we tried to do. We’re asking the international community to demand our release so we can resume our journey.”
December, 2008. July, 2009. And now May, 2010. McKinney spends more time bumping up against the Israeli navy than a hooker in Haifa.
