Ahhh, the fresh breeze of civility and tolerance wishes 40 percent of America were dead

Liberals tell us that we must work and live together to create a better nation. We must learn to treat one another – even those of a different political philosophy – with respect. Attack the ideas, they tell us, not the person.

Just ask uber-liberal and gay sex advice columnist Dan Savage.

In a heated exchange about the debt-ceiling debate on the HBO’s Real Time, Savage, in the spirit of this new political civility, said of Republicans, “I wish they were all fucking dead.”

The funny thing: No one really in the panel called him on it. It’s as if they agreed with the statement that it’s OK to wish forty percent of their fellow Americans dead and – if truth be told – they probably wished those deaths were not peaceful slides off the mortal coil. We’re just supposing, though.

Could it be that civility works one way? Could it be that liberals think that any time one of their ideas or leaders is criticized that this is being “uncivil” and they can threaten and curse against their opponents all they like.

Civility, it seems, is a one-way street where everyone drives on the left.

  • Well, I do know some seriously violent people, but all of them are heterosexual. Like I said, my gay friends are very laid back, don't get excited, have very good relationships with their partners. I guess I just got lucky in the friends department. Just as I had really bad luck in the stepdad department, the uncle department, the stepson department,........

Yes, everybody does have different experiences. That's what makes us individuals. Instead of the lock-step zombies Obama would like us to be. All just like Olivia.

    • You probably did luck out in having gay friends that are exceptional. I think that is great. I do. I just think that perhaps you are minimizing the facts for the overall community. Even though awesome it is obvious that your friends are a very tiny portion of the entire community. Also you don't live with them, nor are in their midst 24/7, nor do you experience their entire lives through their eyes. It could be that:

      1. They just happen to be lucky pairs who have no problems whatsoever. Which is awesome.
      OR
      2. A small number may just be keeping their issues/problems to themselves.

However, the truth is that domestic violence among that community IS a problem and it is not going away and even though it is great that you have wonderful experiences with gay people and that you have great examples of non-violent gay people in your life, the truth is that there are facts to back up that violence within the community is a problem and in fact as equal to violence within ANY community. Gay people are not special they are the same as everyone else. One of the problems that I have with the gay agenda is that they want tolerance and to be treated as everyone else AT THE SAME TIME they want to be in a special class of protective people. I don't quite understand that. In any case...

Interestingly, I have had a more varied perspective on the personal level and what I have seen on media. For every nice gay person I've met, there has been a gay person that has not been nice. There are gay people that are racists believe it or not. They actually know and say the same things that any heterosexual racist would say to me or others they deem lesser due to the color of skin. Gay people who are misogynists or man hating depending on their gender. Just one example: A gay white man push me away to cut in front of the line, even though I was there first, could be because I am a woman or because I am black... don't know. Didn't say anything just smirked arrogantly at me, like what was I going to do? After all he is a man, he has another man there, they are both tall and strong. I was alone and no one else said or did anything, perhaps because they were obviously gay and who to defend the black girl or the gay boy? Uhm... they stayed out of it.

I have encountered gay people that are insulting, intolerant of me before they get to know me. If they know that I am a Christian, watch out... is like WWIII is about to explode and I don't even have to say a word. Just me... reading my Bible SOMEHOW invites haters of all kinds to walk UP TO ME and start ugliness even though I was minding my own business. "Why does your G-d hate gays?" Really? I was here minding my own business and you walk up to me with a threating face asking me a loaded question obviously looking for a fight? You being a male looking to me beat up with words and probably fists? Wow... Even if I show respect they didn't show it back. This Savage guy is PRIME example of that.

Now, in spite of my personal experience and what I have seen over the media and this man's own assertions above, of course not all gay people are violent, but like I have been saying again and again... all things equal gay people are the same as everyone else who is not gay. They have the same wants, needs, desires, problems and issues. There are gay people who believe in Christ and even if some may have issues with the behavior of homosexuality being a sin, they realize this is something they need to deal with G-d themselves. They are honest with their beliefs and I support their honesty and faith.

I just wanted to add that I am sorry about your experiences with people that sucked. Indeed is true I have also had violent and evil people in my life that should have loved and protected me, so I understand as much as I can.

  • I had a friend years ago I met at church who had come out of the homosexual lifestyle. He was one of the gentlest people I ever met. So I don't want to come across that I think all or most homosexuals are violent. My friend lived a good life his last years but unfortunately died of AIDS. When I write "There's a great domestic violence problem in the homosexual community", I'm saying the problem is at least as great in the homosexual community as it is in the straight community. In my opinion the media cover this up. Some make the argument that domestic violence is even greater in the homosexual community than the straight community. For anyone interested in reading more about this I would point them to the "Homosexual Couples and Domestic Violence" page at conservapedia.com

    • I'll take a look, but I still kind of doubt it. Unless all my gay and lesbian friends just happen to be the exceptional ones.

      • For my two cents worth, RHG, I dont doubt your homosexual friends are non violent towards their partners. But I know my homosexual relative beat all (same gender) partners. It was a family secret, just like it was not a family secret that another heterosexual relative was beaten by her (ex) husband and became a victums rights advocate. I am not saying the difference in one being secret, and another being out in the open for all to see was a media or politcal one, just that both cases can happen with different responses.
When reading MDLION's post I could relate to it and found it easy to believe. Your response was different than mine based on what you can relate to. I actually think thats pretty cool, we both had different reactions to the same post based on different experiences with the people we know. :)

      • I think it is safe to assume that everything else being equal, gay pairs will have the SAME problems than heterosexual pairs. More gay women are getting married than gay men as well, so gay men are still commitment phobic as the average heterosexual male. Gay people are getting divorced pretty much at the same rate as heterosexual people even though they are still fighting hard to get married. I remember the Greg Louganis story that he was victim of violence in the hands of his boyfriend for a long time. Again other than being same sex relationships, I don't see why if they have the same needs (to be loved, to have a family, to come together...) as heterosexual pairs, why wouldn't they have the same problems? Also, I can assume that you don't go into their homes and are around them 24/7 so whenever you hear that a heterosexual pair are fractured for whatever reason and you are surprised because you didn't know or saw it, I am sure the same thing happens with gay pairs.

These are links on reports and information on domestic abuse in homosexual homes:

          http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14650663
"The National Criminal Victimization Survey for 1993 to 1999 reported that 0.24% of married women and 0.035% of married men were victims of domestic violence annually versus 4.6% of the men and 5.8% of the women reporting same-sex partnerships. Domestic violence appears to be more frequently reported in same-sex partnerships than among the married."

Greg Louganis olympic swimmer was a victim of physical and sexual abuse by his boyfriend: "Greg Louganis, after winning five gold medals in back-to-back Olympic Games and holding the title of Greatest Diver in the World, retired from the sport, disappeared for a bit, and published his own story, "Breaking the Surface," in 1995. Turns out, Greg’s handsome manager/boyfriend raped him at knife-point one evening, for dating another man. The two were not exclusive at the time, nor were they living together (yet), nor was he Greg’s manager (yet). The next morning, Greg apologized; somehow, the death threat and no condom and an act of violence were all Greg’s fault. The Official Olympic Handbook does not assure you that Gold Medals will provide self-esteem.

Greg tested Positive for HIV before he went to the 1988 Olympic Games; when he returned to America, a champion on everything but the Wheaties Box (they didn’t want him), the boyfriend, who he later found out was also a prostitute, was dying of AIDS. Greg suffered from severe depression, abused drugs and alcohol, and pretty much hoped and thought he’d never see 30." • Thumb downer: Put something up and place a reason for the thumbs down. Don't be a coward. The truth of the matter is that with EVERYTHING else being equal homosexual/lesbian pairings have the same negative issues as any heterosexual pairing.

Many studies speak of it, even if they aren't in the overall media.
Don't close your eyes to the truth, just because you want to believe in the homosexual agenda that everything is peachy keen and that they can handle their business better. Even though many do not come out and seek help for many reason, the truth is that again if everything else being equal (other than they are gay) gay people have the same problems as heterosexual people. If that offends you, get over it.

"Studies show that partner abuse occurs as often in homosexual relationships as it does in heterosexual ones. The same facts about violence in heterosexual relationships are valid for homosexual relationships. Two partners of the same sex do not automatically guarantee equality in the relationship and it is as difficult for a homosexual partner to leave an abusive relationship as it is for a partner in a heterosexual relationship." http://www.valueoptions.com/spotlight_domvio/htmlpages/article16.htm It comes with books references: Violence in Gay and Lesbian Domestic Partnerships , Claire Renzetti (editor). New York: Haworth Press, 1996.

          http://www.narth.com/docs/domestic.html (http://www.ajph.org/cgi/content/full/92/12/1964)
"[T]his first-of-its-kind study determined that the rate of battering victimization among gay men in the target group (men over 18 who had engaged in homosexual activity since age 14, or who identified as gay, homosexual, or bisexual) is "substantially higher than among heterosexual men" and also possibly higher than the rate for heterosexual women, according to the study.
The researchers report a high rate of battering within the context of intimate homosexual partnerships, with 39% of those studied reporting at least one type of battering by a partner over the last five years."

I am going to put more links in another thread which will probably take some time to go through moderation, but it is coming.

  • "Could it be that civility works one way?" No, it actually works both ways for some of us, I wish liberals the likes of him and maher were all dead too, that's actually most, or almost all liberals.

  • For as much as the culture war is always being inflamed, you'd think they'd know which side has all the guns, soldiers and cops.

If the plan is to kill us slowly through legislation, energy barriers and the like then I'd say their winning. However, all it would really take is something to get this whole thing kicked off already and accelerate the timeline and operation temp of this "war".

In that its easy to win against your enemy (us) when they don't know the rules of the game or that they're even in a game, the strategy completely changes when the existence of the game is realized.

    • @YT, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but the cops are just over paid tax collectors.
They've been an inextricable part of the bureaucracy for a very long time. They carry guns only to protect themselves and are lucky if they can hit the broad side of a barn while it's falling on them. Most of them are clueless union members who vote for the "D" behind a candidates name. It's very sad, but very true.

      • It IS true. The cops, in general, don't work for us. They work for the government. And a VERY large percentage of them fire their weapons only the bare minimum required to stay qualified to carry them. How many shots were fired in the Kehoe arrest, without anyone being injured?

  • This clown needs to put the black community on his list too. I mean they were responsible for shutting down gay marriage in Calif. Just assuming he wanted to be consistent and attack people that stand in the way of his agenda and all. Put the Latino community on the list too. Oh snap, I forgot consistent isn't required in LIberalville. Oh, that would sound intolerant too, attacking another oppresed minority group. Never mind, full speed ahead and hit those damn Republicans, intolerance towards them is acceptable. Liberal logic prevails once again....

  • Do ya think I might be charged with a "Hate Crime" if I were to say something like.....I wish ALL Fudge Packing, Puffs were F**KING DEAD!!!

By the way, I'm not ACTUALLY a homophobe. They don't scare me in the least. I just find their choice of lifestyle to be disgusting and destructive.

  • What Dan Savage really did was give a peek into the rage and murderous hatred which can be tied to those abandoned to the homosexual lifestyle. Lust and anger are twin vices. There's a great domestic violence problem in the homosexual community, but the media is only interested when they are attacked by rednecks. If you're the praying type say a prayer for Savage.
Maher's inbred comment was an attack on Sarah Palin's Down Syndrome son. Down Syndrome people are geniuses of unconditional love. Maher, supposedly of sound mind and body, often hates. I think he's more handicapped than a Down Syndrome person. When I was a boy, one of my friends had a Down Syndrome sister. She was a lovely person. Far-leftists hate Sarah Palin because in taking on the lifelong responsibility of a Down Syndrome child at 44, she shows a goodness and sacrificialness of heart they don't have and they hate her for it. Vile comments were also made on the show about Michele Bachmann, a mother of 5 and foster-mother of 23. They hate her for her good heart as well. I've always thought that Maher's intellectual abilities were vastly overrated. He errors frequently on facts and often just hates and insults. Say a prayer for him as well if you're the praying type. He's a bitter man.

    • Mdlion, I agree with almost your entire post. Especially the part about Sarah and her little one. But the violence in the homosexual community, do you have any links to stories about that? Because my gay friends are about the least violent people I can think of. In fact, they are just wonderful people in every sense of the word. I may disagree with who they choose to sleep with, but not only is that none of my business, I also disagree with the people some heterosexuals choose to sleep with.

      • I have to agree with you RockingHorseGuy, my gay friends are probably the least violent of all the people I know.
I have long said that if it weren't for the kissing and sex thing, I could try being gay. Without that, it's just hanging out with your buddies, and there's no PMSing/menopausing woman to deal with!

        • *coughs* Excuse me... Men have their own versions of PMS and menopause and for some reason many men do not like pain nor can they deal with sickness. So it is not easy to be around men either when they are having their issues...

          • Men have their own versions of PMS and menopause

And it usually manifests itself when their SO is having PMS or Menopause! ;)

          • When a man starts to miss his young days when he could do whatever he wanted it takes a real man to decide that he would rather be the man that he is now than the boy he used to be. All these so call mid life crisis that are acted upon, are really a form of male menopause and many families are destroyed because of it. However a man has control over that. He can decide to be mature or immature about his emotional issues. A woman though cannot help herself, we have to go through menopause, many decide to face it head on and many decide to hide from it, but it will happen and the things that happen to the brain and the body are tremendous. It can mean unhappy times for everyone in the family it is true, but usually if she has SUPPORT, especially from her husband, during this time, things can be smoother than expected.

          • Hey sorry if some truth hurts your feelings thumb downer... but it is the truth. I have seen real men being there for their wives as they go through menopause and I have seen cowards using that as an excuse for not being in the home or stepping out on their marriages.

          • I don't buy any of the "male menopause" crap. A man who can desert the woman who gave up her youth to be with him will eat sh*t.

I've seen it happen time and again -- a man who is financially successful ditches the entire reason for his success in favor of some 18-year old tramp. Just so you know, KQ, I usually have a little something for the gas tank of their 'Vette. I bet you know what it is.

          • Maybe some men haven't felt enough serious pain to be able to tell the difference between a little ache and the real thing. Once you've been SERIOUSLY injured a few times, (or a lot of times), the day to day stuff doesn't get you so upset.

          • Perhaps, but on average men cannot deal with pain and things like the flu are big issues.

My point being that men are not necessarily perfect and ready to be lived with at any point in time. Everyone has issues.

PMS and menopause are organic physical issues that women have no complete control over. However, women in general can deal with those issues and cannot rely on someone else to help them with it. Overall, a real man will be able to deal with the outcome of her issues which tends to be temporary, just as a real woman can deal with him acting like a child when he gets the sniffles, or when his toe hurts or when he is useless and unable to iron his clothes or take care of the kids' meals or whatever...

I for one though, would accept any and all shortcomings if he is a real man that can take care of the most important things and doesn't b*tch about the few times when I cannot get my life together due to an organic physical issue for a week or a few days a month. If he expects my understanding when he is having issues that he may have not much control over, I would expect him to understand when I am having my issues as well.

        • But, I like women. At least when they're not PMSing or menopausing. And a lot of my gay friends ARE women. It's kind of fun hanging out with women who are pointing out all the hot ladies to me and each other.

          • This is true RHG, I feel the same way. I always enjoyed going out drinking with my female gay friends when I was single. They knew what I liked and kept trying to get me hooked up.

    • I’ve always thought that Maher’s intellectual abilities were vastly overrated. He errors frequently on facts and often just hates and insults.

That's because he's bitter over his failed career in comedy, so he tries to be funny talking about politics, a subject he obviously knows nothing about!

      • He's a punk. An ugly, angry little dookie who knows he can't exist out in the real world.

  • My God, those morons should be careful before Sarah Palin puts a picture of a gun-site on a picture of their state or something truly hurtful..

  • Where's Olivia to tell us that our right wing bias has caused us to misunderstand Mr. Savage?
