It’s not like either talking head’s political affiliation is a state secret, but it’s still interesting to hear it admitted to on the air.
In the middle of a discussion with the Today Show’s Matt Lauer, Tom Brokaw says, “A Western Governor said ‘We’re losing independents. He’s a Democrat – from our party.”
We tried to give Brokaw the benefit of the doubt by asking ourselves if he could have meant something else. For example, was “He’s a democrat” simply a poorly-placed independent clause? No. That makes no sense. If you remove that clause, you end up with “We’re losing independents from our party.” Obviously, that wasn’t the meaning, because if they’re independents, they’re not Democrats.
So the only remaining conclusion is that Brokaw was, in fact, admitting that he and Lauer are Democrats.
Watching all those old black and white Perry Mason reruns has really sharpened our powers of observation and deduction.
And, by the way, Della Street was kind of hot, wasn’t she?

Brokaw obviously wasn't saying that he and Lauer are Democrats, he was clearly quoting the Western governor. And to those complaining about the lack of conservatives in the media: if you're watching a good journalist, you won't be able to tell their political affiliation one way or the other. If you can, then you're not watching a good journalist. Republicans seem quick to attack a journalist they don't like, using "liberal" as an insult.
The "East Village Other", an alternative newspaper in the late '60's, printed a story with a title that summed it all up in 4 words.
"POLITICS IS PIG SHIT"
As we said in the '60's ----- Right On !!
If they WEREN'T Liberals, they wouldn't have a career to begin with. Their colleagues would have made sure of that. I can count on 1 hand the Conservatives on Network TV, and its a National TV Pastime to bash even those few brave souls.
It explains the existence of this Blog. IHTM does not make the BIG $$$$ for nothin!
Sorry, I watched the clip very carefully 3 times. This is what I heard him say: A western governor said "we're losing independents (he's a Democrat) from our party." He was quoting the governor, not saying "our" as in Lauer and Brokaw. Now, I am a staunch conservative and I know that the mainstream media is filled with liberal progressives, mostly Democrats. But sad to say you can't use this clip as proof.
There are independents who vote Republican and vote Democrat if they feel their independent candidate is not up to par or they don't want to waste their vote. In fact it is the independent vote that both parties really crave, they are independents pepole/voters, but they vote Dem or Rep according to where they stand on issues. So yes I agree with you, I think that is what he meant to say. Although I believe they are liberals anyway.
I think Brokaw and Lauer are far to the left of many Democrats. I guess that's one reason we all hate the damn media.
