Ahhh, the glories of the Democratic People’s Republic of Cuba.
Investors Business Daily editorializes about the lucky Cubans and their universal healthcare system. Everyone is treated equally, which is apparently a Spanish word that means “poorly.”
… CNN is presenting Cuba’s socialized health care system as “a model for health care reform in the United States,” according to a report on the cable network last week. The report credits low cost and universal coverage.
“How does Cuba do it?” gushed the CNN anchor. “First of all, the government dictates salaries. Doctors earn less than $30 per month — very little compared to doctors elsewhere. And priority is given to avoiding expensive procedures, says Gail Reed (a contributor to the Cuban communist party propaganda organ Granma), who’s lived and worked in Cuba for decades.”
… CNN gives little attention to the fact that hospitals in Cuba have no Band-Aids and are short on aspirin and actual medicine. Photos from TheRealCuba.com show hospitals strewn with filthy mattresses, infested with cockroaches and full of bony patients nursing ugly bedsores. The only plenty within Cuba’s universal coverage system is one of want.
CNN seems to have conveniently forgotten that Cuban dictator Fidel Castro nearly died when the finest Cuban surgeons botched his abdominal surgery. Rather than submit to further surgery at the hands of his hand-picked butchers, he flew in a team of Spanish doctors who were, unfortunately, able to save his life.
We’re pretty confident that Castro isn’t covered by the same healthcare plan he imposes on his people. You know, just like the President and Congress won’t be covered by ObamaCare plan they want to impose on you.

poland is much richer then cuba and how much time i need to wait if i wound to go to public dentist? 6 months. Oculist? 8 months. Cataract operation? 6 months. And last but not least ;) Knee surgery? even 7 years in big city.
Its crazy - most people cant wait and end up paying two times (once in tax for national healthcare, and second time for doctor that actually can help them). I dont need to mention that because of this long wait times and really low wages (as system is almost bankrupt all the time) doctors are considered as one of the most corrupted professions.
CNN keeps describing Cuba as a poor country, but why is it poor? Cuba is close to the US has a tropical climate for tourism and agriculture, waters well suited to commercial fishing, oil and natural gas reserves. In 1959 Cuba was rich then most Western European countries had higher TV ownership and car ownership, but by 1962 the planned economy had made Cuba wretchedly poor.
I think CNN anchors should only make $30 per month. That will help the company's bottom line....
No wonder the Commie News Network is a lowly third place in the cable news ratings. This is simply outragous! Keep it up CNN, my liberal friends have turned on you and its only a matter of time till yer advertising profits tank. 10$ says Obama shells out major taxpayer dollars to subsidize your failure. Go to hell.
