Miami Herald Rips Own Cuban-Born Sportswriter for Saying America Was Not Founded on Racist Ideas

Miami Herald Rips Own Cuban-Born Sportswriter for Saying America Was Not Founded on Racist Ideas. These overpaid primadonnas should all move to Cuba so they can see what Mr. Salguero is talking about.

Herald columnist Armando Salguero, recently got fed up with the NFL’s constant anti-American drumbeat. Specifically citing comments by Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill and other players, Salguero took to Twitter in defense of America.

Salguero added to his August 27 tweet a video of the Titans’ millionaire players complaining about the “systemic racism” in America, while justifying boycotting practice.

“I am so sick of the America bashing by people who have never lived and would never live anywhere else,” the Cuba-born columnist wrote.

Hugo Chavez admits he is a cancerous tumor. Oh, wait. He admits he has a cancerous tumor.

We apologize for misreading the news but, c’mon, it was an easy mistake to make. We saw the words “cancer” and “Hugo Chavez” and immediately thought of the man’s history, not his health.

Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, two particularly aggressive forms of cancer that have caused the deaths of countless South Americans

The Miami Herald has the tale of the terrific tumor:

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez acknowledged Thursday night that a cancerous tumor caused his three-week hospital stay in Cuba — his first public admission that the illness that has kept him away so long is serious.

He revealed the diagnosis in a 15-minute evening speech, his first since falling ill 21 days ago. He stood thinner and stone-faced at a lectern, dressed in a long-sleeve black shirt with a red T-shirt underneath. From the start of his address, it was obvious that the normally jovial leader was about to reveal something bleak.

…A check-up revealed a pelvic abscess, which was drained and treated with antibiotics on June 11. Despite the favorable results, Chávez said, doctors noticed something worse: an abscessed tumor with cancerous cells. It was completely removed in a second surgery, he said, and he is now undergoing “complementary treatments to address diverse cells which were found.”

He did not clarify, but seemed to be alluding to chemotherapy. He did not disclose the type of cancer nor when the second surgery was performed.

If only it were as easy for the Venezuelan people to remove the cancer with which they’ve been afflicted for the last 15 years.

Check another country off the peanut farmer’s list: Jimmy Carter fails in Cuba

Two rabid old anti-Americans shake hands in Havana

The Associated Press reports Carter’s latest success at failing:

Former President Jimmy Carter met with a jailed American contractor before leaving Cuba on Wednesday but said Cuban leaders had made it clear they do not plan to release him.

The announcement was a disappointment to supporters of Alan Gross after the trip had raised expectations the 86-year-old former American president would be allowed to bring the Maryland native home. Gross is serving a 15-year sentence after being convicted earlier this month of bringing communications equipment into Cuba illegally.

State Department officials have said privately that Cuban authorities indicated they might release Gross on humanitarian grounds following the trial. But Carter said that from the very beginning, he knew Gross would not be freed during the visit.

“The Cuban officials made it very clear to me before I left my home that the freedom of Alan Gross would not be granted.”

In other words, Carter knew his mission would fail, but went to Cuba anyway? Yeah, right.

Carter also sat down Wednesday with revolutionary icon Fidel Castro, a day after holding talks with President Raul Castro.

“We welcomed each other as old friends,” Carter said of the meeting with the 84-year-old former Cuban leader.

This is the only part of this story that makes sense to us. My god, those two evil old sons of bitches deserve each other.

Castro says Cuban economic model doesn’t work anymore. Did it ever?

Fidel Castro told a visiting American journalist that Cuba’s communist economic model doesn’t work, a rare comment on domestic affairs from a man who has conspicuously steered clear of local issues since stepping down four years ago.

It’s taken 50 long, tyrannical years, but Fidel Castro has finally been slapped up the side of the cabeza with a long-missing dose of reality.

The Marx Brothers are finally figuring out that their economic models don't work

The Associated Press has news of the aging Communist’s moment of clarity:

Fidel Castro told a visiting American journalist that Cuba’s communist economic model doesn’t work, a rare comment on domestic affairs from a man who has conspicuously steered clear of local issues since stepping down four years ago.

The fact that things are not working efficiently on this cash-strapped Caribbean island is hardly news. Fidel’s brother Raul, the country’s president, has said the same thing repeatedly. But the blunt assessment by the father of Cuba’s 1959 revolution is sure to raise eyebrows.

Jeffrey Goldberg, a national correspondent for The Atlantic magazine, asked if Cuba’s economic system was still worth exporting to other countries, and Castro replied: “The Cuban model doesn’t even work for us anymore” Goldberg wrote Wednesday in a post on his Atlantic blog.

He said Castro made the comment casually over lunch following a long talk about the Middle East, and did not elaborate. The Cuban government had no immediate comment on Goldberg’s account.

News of the future: August 12, 2060 (Dateline, Chicago): Former President Barack Obama today admitted that his economic model doesn’t work anymore.

Donny Deutsch: Great ad man, even greater liberal bigot

Imagine, if you will, the howls of liberal protest that would spontaneously arise if a conservative TV commentator smeared a Cuban-American politician by calling him “a coconut“ – someone who’s brown on the outside, but white on the inside.

Imagine, if you will, the howls of liberal protest that would spontaneously arise if a conservative TV commentator smeared a Cuban-American politician by calling him “a coconut“ – someone who’s brown on the outside, but white on the inside.

That’s exactly what former ad man and current liberal commentator Donny Deutsch did Monday on HLN’s Joy Behar Show.

NewsBusters.org noted that ”Deutsch employed the derogatory term while hitting politicians with no experience. He noted the success of such candidates and derided, “…You almost need that blank piece of paper. That’s the new model. Like, you know, this coconut Rubio down in Florida.”

That wild and crazy Donny Deutsch. He’s such a radish.

We regret to inform you of the death of two cherished liberal myths

January, 2020: Cuban worker commuting to his job in the tobacco fields

Remarkably cold weather killed twenty-six patients in a Cuban mental hospital this week. It also killed two liberal myths.

The Washington Times reports the deadly details:

Twenty-six patients at Cuba’s largest hospital for the mentally ill died this week during a cold snap, the government said Friday.

Human rights leaders cited negligence and a lack of resources as factors in the deaths, and the Health Ministry launched an investigation that it said could lead to criminal proceedings.

A Health Ministry communique read on state television blamed “prolonged low temperatures that fell to 38 degrees Fahrenheit (4 Celsius) in Boyeros,” the neighborhood where Havana’s Psychiatric Hospital is located.

It said most of the deaths were from natural causes such as old age, respiratory infections and complications from chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular problems.

The statement came in response to reports from the independent Cuban Commission on Human Rights that at least 24 mental patients died of hypothermia this week, and that the hospital did not do enough to protect them from the cold because of problems such as faulty windows.

It’s so sad when you lose those you hold most dear. Not the patients, the liberal myths.

Liberal Myth #1 – The bizarre claim that Cuba’s healthcare system is superior to America’s. When was the last time you read a story about mental patients dying of hypothermia in the United States, even in climates far colder than Cuba’s?

Liberal Myth #2 – Global warming. For god’s sake, man, if people are freezing to death in tropical climes like Cuba, global warming is the least of our worries.

Cuban musician speaks the unspeakable: Life sucks under Castro and Communism

Cuban punk rocker (who knew?) Gorki Águila is not a fan of Fidel Castro’s Communist revolution.

Cuban punk rocker (who knew?) Gorki Águila is not a fan of Fidel Castro’s revolution.

“Communism is a failure. A total failure,” he says. “Please, leftists of the world-improve your capitalism. Don’t choose communism!”

Águila, who still lives in Cuba, wears homemade anti-Castro t-shirts, frequently denounces the Raoul and Fidel, and leads what may be Cuba’s only political punk band, Porno Para Ricardo. He is often arrested and charged with “social dangerousness.”

Cuban officials granted Águila a rare visa to travel abroad, hoping that he’ll travel overseas and stay there.

Lunatic leftist Rep says opponents want to destroy “first President who looks like me”

Congresswoman Diane Watson attacks Rush Limbaugh, insults the wealthy, praises Che Gueverra and Fidel Castro, lauds the Cuban healthcare system and she announces that opponents of ObamaCare are trying to destroy the first President who looks like her.

Someone alert the folks at the Guinness Book of World Records, because it looks like Diane Watson (D-Havana) may have set a world record for cramming the most stupid comments into one 2:45 sound bite.

Within that remarkably brief period of time she manages to attack Rush Limbaugh, insult the wealthy, praise Che Gueverra and Fidel Castro, laud the Cuban healthcare system and to cap off her tour de force, she announces that opponents of ObamaCare are trying to destroy the first President who looks like her.

Problem is, we’re not sure which President she’s referring to.

Is she saying we’re anti-black because she looks like Barack Obama or that we’re anti-Whig because she bears a remarkable resemblance to Millard Fillmore?

Do you really want universal healthcare just like Cuba?

Investors Business Daily editorializes about the lucky Cubans and their universal healthcare system. Everyone is treated equally, which is apparently a Spanish word that means “poorly.”

Ahhh, the glories of the Democratic People’s Republic of Cuba.

Investors Business Daily editorializes about the lucky Cubans and their universal healthcare system. Everyone is treated equally, which is apparently a Spanish word that means “poorly.”

… CNN is presenting Cuba’s socialized health care system as “a model for health care reform in the United States,” according to a report on the cable network last week. The report credits low cost and universal coverage.

“How does Cuba do it?” gushed the CNN anchor. “First of all, the government dictates salaries. Doctors earn less than $30 per month — very little compared to doctors elsewhere. And priority is given to avoiding expensive procedures, says Gail Reed (a contributor to the Cuban communist party propaganda organ Granma), who’s lived and worked in Cuba for decades.”

Bad timing: Cuba runs out of toilet paper just as its economy goes into the toilet

Obama placates another leftist dictator, pulls plug on electronic message board in Havana

President Obama has ordered the State Department to take down an electronic message board in Havana, Cuba that promoted democracy, because he says that it’s causing friction with the island nation’s Communist dictatorship.

President Obama wants to make sure Cuban citizens aren't bothered by any messages about democracy
President Obama wants to make sure Cuban citizens aren't bothered by any messages about democracy

President Obama has ordered the State Department to take down an electronic message board in Havana, Cuba because he says that it’s causing friction with the island nation’s Communist dictatorship.

And we can’t have that, can we?

Back in 2006, the Bush administration erected the message board in the windows of the American diplomatic mission overlooking Havana’s main coastal highway.

It aimed dangerous, subversive messages at the Cuban people such as “Democracia-en-Cuba” (“Democracy in Cuba”).

The Castro brothers didn’t take kindly to this dastardly talk of democracy. They attempted to block the message from view by draping huge black flags from 100-foot-high flagpoles in front of the diplomatic mission. And if any inquisitive Cubans made the mistake of looking up as they passed the mission, armed guards shooed them along their way.

Kind of like the Black Panthers shooed voters away from that Philadelphia polling place. You know, the Black Panthers the Obama administration has decided not to prosecute.

Ahhh, it all starts to make sense now.

Could bad Cuban economy have anything to do with authoritarian, communist economy? Nah.

The Associated Press reports that the Cuban Revolution Day is not off to such a great start in Havana.

A group of prosperous Cuban patriots on a weekend cruise to Miami
A group of prosperous Cuban patriots on a weekend cruise to Miami

The Associated Press reports that the Cuban Revolution Day is not off to such a great start in Havana.

Oh, sure, there’s still the sea of olive drab uniforms, the Che Guevara souvenir t-shirt shops, the parade of antique cars (because that’s all the people can afford), and the display of homemade boats created to leave the country.

But the economy’s been hit hard this year, according to the AP.

It’s the global credit meltdown, U.S. relations, and a failure of economic “reforms” that are causing this ho (chi minh) hum celebration. Interestingly, they don’t report that the failure of the Cuban revolution might…might…have something to do with the fact that for the last 50 years, the country has been run — and ruined — by a group of authoritarian, communist thugs who imprison people for daring to speak their minds and wreck the economy with state-run, communist principles that only work in select Oliver Stone movies.

The article does mention, however, that Cubans have – nudge, nudge, wink, wink – free health care. Something Americans could have, too, if they were just willing to live on $20 a month.

Freud said that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but in Cuba, a cigar is a symbol of a stupid, repressive, communist system that enslaves a proud, smart people.

Hillary presses “restart” button with Russians, restarts Khruschev era

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhXwcn3BksA America voted for hope and change. We just hope they like the change they’re getting.

According to CNN, the Russian government just announced that they may base long-range bombers in Cuba for the first time since the 1962 Cuban Missle Crisis.

When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented her Russian counterpart with a special “Restart” button this week, he apparently took it as a sign his government could restart the Cold War.

Next thing you know, Vladimir Putin will channel Nikita Khruschev, show up at the United Nations, start pounding his shoe on the podium, and threaten to bury us.

You really need to upgrade your hiring process, President Obama. Next time you need a Secretary of State, may we suggest Craig’s List?
