• I can agree on the education part in as much as i think every kid should recieve basic schooling. But the rest is completely bullshit, from start to finnish

  • But why does everyone believe that the basic schooling has to be from a government run school? Unless somebody has the money to send their kids to private school, or the time to home-school, the only alternative is government schools. And I think we all know how good the government is at doing things well, for a reasonable price.

If schools were run like a business in a truly free market the teachers would be forced to perform or be fired. If the schools were allowed to teach usefull subjects, such as reading, writing, science and arithmatic, we would have high school graduates that could function well in society. When this nation was at it's greatest, the average person had an 8th grade education. We built the best economy in the most powerfull nation on the planet with 8th graders, now we can barely dress ourselves with people who have 4-8 yrs of so-called higher education. Personally, I would rather move forward with the Jr. High School kids of 1900 than the MBA's and PHD's of today.

      • Sad thing is, you can send your kids to private schools, but you really can't opt out. You still pay for the public schools through whatever taxation setup is in your area. Now, if we can get a voucher system to take that money away from the public schools & make them compete for your kids, then you can start pushing education forward again. Gov.Walker in Wisconsin should lead the way on this one, & really destroy the gov't monopoly on public education in the nation. If it really is about the kids like the Dems always say, they should be on board with this idea.

        • I agree. No matter what you are paying for the stupid teachers and the stupid kids. If government really had to compete with private companies they will either become leaner and more budget wise or they will fall and leave the education on the hands of parents as it should be.

• You know, if it could be proven that this worked, I would have no problem with implementing programs in inner-city schools that provided for a payment of, say, $1000 to each student who graduated from high school and who stayed in school, stayed off drugs, and did not get pregnant. Maybe even a higher amount than that; I'm just throwing that out there. Reward the PERFORMERS, not everyone just for being there and being poor. Give them something to strive for and attain. It's got to be less expensive to do that than the expenses incurred by warehousing, erm, teaching troublemakers, stoners, and teen moms.

  • In a proper world your suggestion would be unneccesary.
    The reward for performing would be a well paying job, in a field that makes the individual happy and provides a sense of worth.

• The logical end of thinking such as this is that those who are given a free iPod or laptop will get annoyed by the fact that people who work for their toys may have nicer toys, so it will be escalated to everyone having a right to have the best, fastest, newest techno-toy out there. After all, we don't want anyone feeling bad because someone else has something nicer or more expensive.

• I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.

  I am for doing good to the poor, but I think that the best way to do good to the poor is to take ignorant, America-hating, ASSHATS like Jesse Jackson Jr. and tie large rocks to their ankles and leave them on the shore lines of our country at low tide.

• When I hear these Libtards speak ( Jackson-Lee , Johnson (Guam-man) , Etc ) it always reminds me of George Carlin. He said " Think how stupid the average person is , and realize that half of them are stupider than that ."If these people are elected and think and speak like this , how stupid are the people that voted them into office.Scary thought indeed . Scarier than that , is the realization that they vote and replicate.

  Mr. Jackson may recall that the Constitution was once written exactly the way he wants. It provided "free" labor to a select few who happened to have the ear of the political elite.
