It’s not surprising that Bill Maher had his facts wrong when he attacked conservatives. But it was surprising when reliably liberal guest George Clooney stopped the obnoxious HBO host and told him that conservatives have done far more than liberals to support his efforts in Darfur.
Maher started the sequence by saying, “I don’t think conservatives are bad people, I think they have a hard time being empathetic to people who are not like them at all.”
First Clooney chastises the studio audience for applauding Maher’s stupidity and then he sets the record straight.
We may have to consider lifting our self-imposed ban on George Clooney movies.

I'm no Clooney fan, but I will give him "props" for sackin' up and admitting that conservatives have embraced his Darfur cause more than libbos. Liberals care about people, but only the ones that embrace liberal issues and causes. Funny that Maher accuses the right of the EXACT shortcoming that all leftist guerrilla libbos suffer from here in Obama's Amerika.

I was shocked... with that said I remember that a few of his most recent films have been "conservatively" themed SOMEWHAT. I don't know... is he growing up? Is he realizing wow I am getting old and this lifestyle hasn't paid off spiritually nor emotionally? Who knows, but it was decent of him to at least let the idiot know that he cannot make such blanket statements.
Or is he thinking of a political career and realizing which way the wind is blowing?

It's the same everywhere, isn't it. In my town, a liberal columnist moaned about poor people having no dignity and patted himself on the back for caring, while the conservative columnist quietly organized a food bank to actually help.
Have you heard about the Eddie Bernice Johnson scholarship scandal? Well, not too much of a scandal, because she got re-elected somehow. EBJ is a congresscritter in my backyard, and she arranged for thousands of dollars in Congressional Black Caucus scholarship money to be funnelled to her grandchildren and families of her staff, while denying it to the poor black students of her constituency. One girl in particular had written to EBJ inquiring about scholarships and was told there was no money to be had.
When this story came to light, conservative talk radio listeners in the Dallas/Fort Worth area set up a scholarship fund for the girl.
Wow... I did not hear about that. How horrible! I bet the lame stream media didnt do jack squat for the girl nor would congratulate the conservative radio listeners for what they did do for the girl.
It's a proven fact that liberals always make a show of sending sympathy to the unfortunate while conservatives put their money where their mouths are (if they even say anything at all). Regardless, conservatives actually do something about it.
Look at the stats for the polititions--Repubicans always out-give (to charity) the Demorats.
Demorats would rather take other people's money and stand up disasterous "departments" and "organizations" that eventually fail...
Much of it is because of the Biblical idea that you don't trumpet helping people. There is no need for someone to know that you are the one working behind the scene to help those in need...
Mainly because when a person does say "LOOK AT ME! I AM SO GOOD AT HELPING PEOPLE!" It is very selfish. A person shoudln't help another just so that person can get a reward for it, it should be out of a real desire to help.

Bush did try to educate people as to what he was doing for the continent of Africa overall HOWEVER it was meant to be so people would know the plight in Africa and to explain his usage of our money over there, but the media didn't care. Sometimes you got to let people know how to help, but if you are a conservative the media wont come. They wont because it could make him look compassionate, but that wasn't in the storyline they had created.
With that said, he went on to quietly help to the point where there was a success in his actions even if they came through much later than he expected. He didn't stop just because he wasn't getting the attention for it, something I doubt a liberal would have done... stop any efforts unless it got noticed.
That is what gets me with people like Ted Turner and Bill Gates. They give away a *crap* load of money to these charities, but they also wallow in the publicity from it. That bothers me, it bothers me a-lot. It makes me wonder what the main reason was in giving this money away.
And what is better...a Billionaire giving away 100 million dollars to some organization or someone making minimum wage giving away half his months pay check to help a friend get back on his feet? Hmm.
As usual, the media driven misidentification of conservatives rears it ugly head. To listen to the MSM, all conservatives (of any stripe from far right to right leaning moderates) are stupid, uneducated, live in rural backwoods areas, predominately in the south, and spend their days making moonshine and chewing tobacco. The idea that one could be conservative and still empathize with people is impossible. The idea that they may have some brains, be well educated and thoughtful in their comments and beliefs is totally beyond comprehension. Maybe if liberals were more into thoughtfulness, they would curb their ignorant comments.
But just remember, WE'RE the intolerant ones.
I find it funny that the Left constantly complain that the right are always against people different than themselves when the left are so much more guilty of it. They are freedom of thought as long as you think the same as them. No religious freedom because all religion is bad and you surely don't have the right to think they might be wrong.
Of course conservatives have done more to support Clooney's efforts in Dafur, conservatives believe in taking direct action to help people while liberals wait for the government to do the work.
