Hey, wait just a gol danged minute. We thought the science was settled. Didn’t Al Gore tell us the Himalayan glaciers were melting away and that the entire Indian subcontinent was about to make the Oklahoma dust bowl look like the Garden of Eden?
Hmmmm. Hard to believe as this may be, it turns out that none of it is true.
The Telegraph UK has the report you probably won’t see in the American media:
Himalayan glaciers are actually advancing rather than retreating, claims the first major study since a controversial UN report said they would be melted within quarter of a century.
Researchers have discovered that contrary to popular belief half of the ice flows in the Karakoram range of the mountains are actually growing rather than shrinking.
The discovery adds a new twist to the row over whether global warming is causing the world’s highest mountain range to lose its ice cover.
It further challenges claims made in a 2007 report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that the glaciers would be gone by 2035.
So the way we understand this story, the glaciers are growing. The only things shrinking are Al Gore’s bank account and his credibility.
We’re ok with that.

Glaciers surrounded by high mountains and covered with more than two centimetres of debris are protected from melting.
Debris-covered glaciers are common in the rugged central Himalaya, but they are almost absent in subdued landscapes on the Tibetan Plateau, where retreat rates are higher."
All this shows is that debris-covered glaciers are more protected by the effects of global warming. Do you people realize there are many other glaciers in the world that don't have the same geological properties of Himalayas?
Ok. Now explain to us unenlightened masses why the arctic and antarctic ice caps are thickening. The outer edges are retreating a bit but the middle of the ice packs are gaining in depth, according to "scientists".
My theory is similar to the theory that men never really go bald. Men do not "lose" the hair on their head, it merely retreats then pops out in other places. Like our nostrils and ears.

Man-made NaCl is polluting our oceans. There will be waves, MORE waves, well maybe less or maybe the same amount. Water will wash up on our beaches at an alarming rate (or not)! Salt will cause more shark attacks this summer in North America, maybe less or the same...whatever. You are just not as smart as me to understand all of this.

Anyway, you might have a point! Since high levels of NaCl in our food can cause high blood pressure then it makes sense to me that high levels in the ocean can cause pressure differences all around the globe resulting in big waves hitting Maui! But, how do we explain the huge seas in the Bering Sea? Experts say that the lack of NaCl due to the melting glaciers is making the fish off of the coast of Alaska breed like crazy, providing food for half the worlds population. Help us out here! Enquiring minds want to know!
I would love to see a few Gore-ites head to New England and tell them all about how globull warming is going to kill all life on the planet.
I want one of them to come to my little part of the southwest and explain to me why todays high temp. will be near 60 and the predicted high for Wed. and Thur. will be in the teens. I won't even mention the foot or so of snow we are expecting.

More evidence the AGW theory is watered down.
The only event that would prove AGW is happening more than receding glaciers is, of course, advancing glaciers. All the models predicted this. Now give the government all your money.

But seriously, folks... Didn't we discover that the UN report had listed a magazine article as the only source of info saying that the Himalayan glaciers were vanishing?

IIRC, it was not a magazine article in this case (but that was used elsewhere in the IPCC report), it was a graduate student that had never been to the Himalayan glaciers thesis.
