• some ancient verse 'who can stand the Lord's cold? (why even try ? ) A certain amount of brain shrinkage must have happened BEFORE they went in.

• There were a few of the ladies that I would have taken home to warm them up. Just don't try having an intelligent conversation with them.

• Sorry people, but you ain't gonna warm up the Potomac no matter how many times you jump into it.

  • It all depends on how many pots of pinto beans they had for lunch before getting into the water. Under the right circumstances I can warm up several gallons of water around me.

• What a bunch of wussies, getting their ankles wet, and the "brave ones" getting all wet but wearing wetsuits. Reminds me of watching little five year olds at the beach in the summer, running in until they get their toes wet, and running back out screaming like little girls, then looking for praise from their mommy.

• Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the real Polar Bears do more than just splash around in water up to their knees? Don't they actually take a swim or "plunge", wetting the torso as well as the legs?

  • A friend of mine lives in Prairie du Chien, Wis. and they do this "Polar Bear" thing every year. Only they do it right! They swim around, duck their heads under, play in the water for several minutes before heading to the local pub to warm up.

    Typical liberal sissies. These people barely got their feet wet then turned tail and ran for the beach. Real polar bears, (insert Americans here) would have been playing water polo and laughing all the way to the beer joint when the game was over.

• The planet is overheating so to draw attention to it they plunge into 30 degree water in 23 degree temps. This makes about as much sense as shooting yourself in the foot with a doublebarreled shotgun. Ah, the Liberal ilk. A pop quiz. What do a circus and the so-called green movenment have in common? They are both full of clowns, only the ones in the circus are acting.

• Was no-one quick-witted enough to stop them getting out again?

• Are these THE Polar Bears, or just some garden variety generic brand of polar bears? The difference is slight but recognizable: The Polar Bears just call attention to themselves and the stupid plunge they take each year into frigid water, while the lefty loonie polar bears say they're calling attenion to some higher awareness issue like, global warming, baby Harp seals, melting ice-caps, water polution, CO2 emissions, etc., but actually it's still just about them.

  I have a suggestion for them; if they want to draw attention to something that is a real hot button issue, how about drawing attention to the terrible travesty called Abortion by volunteering to vivisect themselves, without the benefit of anesthesia, and have their discarded body parts placed, (dumped) in garbage cans, landfills, underpasses, parking lots, and/or pickled in jars of formaldehyde and placed in high school and college biology labs throughout America. This can be done to bring national public attention to the proper hightened sense of awareness regarding an issue that never truly got a fair hearing before the Supreme Court of this country and was never brought before the House of Representatives before it, (abortion), was rendered the "Law" of the land! Now THAT would be useful awareness raising!
