We actually have no problem with the fact that the feds hired a herd of goats to eat the brush around a courthouse in Pasadena, California. They probably did a much better job than any morons who would have been hired otherwise.
But the bureaucrats’ breathless description of their actions on the government website is a hoot:
The extreme overgrowth and underbrush on the hillside behind the Richard H. Chambers U.S. Courthouse in Pasadena, California, prompted GSA’s Pacific Rim Region property management to take quick action to avoid summer fires.
Ultimately, the choice was easy: Use a herd of goats. The decision meant a cost-saving to taxpayers over hiring manual labor and proved to be better for the environment than bulldozers.
The unusually wet winter and spring caused the overgrowth, which, in California, always means the risk of summer wildfires and grass fires because of tinder underbrush.
The goats are an efficient vegetation management tool, costing thousands less and taking three days vs. a week for manual labor, with few side effects. Unlike bulldozers, used historically for the annual project, goats control brush and weeds without disturbing the grass and soil. They also do not pollute or leave synthetic chemicals that could run off into lakes and streams or be ingested by other animals.
As a result of the GSA’s “quick action,” 127 goat jobs were created or saved.
Unfortunately, the goats have now organized their own government union and despite the fact that the job has been completed and there won’t be any work for the goats until next year, they are rejecting all calls for layoffs.

One of my best friends had several relatives that had farms in western Wisconsin. They used to stake a goat in an area they wanted to clear out. Brush & small shrub type plants they wanted gone would be eaten in short order. Goats will eat just about anything, & if given the chance, they will eat anything. So I really don't have a problem or find the story too goofy. It's kinda smart actually.
Goats: doing the jobs that illegals won't.
I mean really, have you ever wondered how so many illegals have so much free time to protest, demand benefits, and vote for Democrats when they are supposed to be doing all that work Americans refuse to do?
It's not the illegals doing the protesting, BMF. It's the registered Democrats that sympathize with criminals. Besides, are those goats here legally? I want to know.
Only the government could come up with "vegetation management tool" not realizing they're the "tools."

I'm absolutely sure that goat manure on the ground is a violation of some regulation or other re pollution of water runoff.

What are the undocumented guest workers going to do now??
What about the carbon emissions of these goats - more or less than meat-eating guys using CARB approved machinery? What about the manure runoff into local watersheds?
And please tell me there was 24 hour guards to protect these "workers" from lonely guys hanging around the local mosque. However, from the look on the face of that cutie above, it looks like the guards might be too late. Looks like that meat will have to be sold in NYC.
