Would someone find out if there’s a nice rest home in Searchlight, Nevada. If there is, would you be so kind as to reserve a room for Harry Reid?
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) was speaking, giving kudos to participants in Alaska’s famous Iditarod dogsled race, when an increasingly doddering Harry Reid interrupted and asked for the floor:
“They had a really, really good piece on public radio before the start of the race,” Reid said. “I hesitate saying this because I know I will probably get in trouble, but this is a good reason why the House vote was bad today to defund public radio.”
According to NPR’s liberal supporters, its programming somehow manages to span an unspannable gap and appeal simultaneously to eastern elites and rural rednecks. It appeals to everyone, damn it.
Which, of course, raises the question, if it appeals to everyone why doesn’t it have better ratings?

If they fund NPR then to be fair, under the FCCs fairness doctrine, and to be totally impartial, they need to fund a conservative radio company, right?
Do not these morons have more pressing things to do than talk about a effing dogsled race?? I'm upset, there was a hellava ice fishing contest last month in Frostbite Falls, MN. I think the Senate should spend a few hours talking about that. Harry could jump in and tie it to NPR. Then dont forget the wet tee shirt contest in Bikini Beach, FL or the cow milking contest in Manure Pile, IA. Sheesh.

Under section 501 of the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948, the Voice of America is forbidden to broadcast directly to American citizens. The intent was to protect Americans from gov't propaganda. BTW, The only way for Americans to listen is online or on shortwave.
Now, has NPR/PBS more or less become a form of propaganda? Why is it allowed, let alone funded? There is no warrent for public radio in the constitution, so defund it.
As for Harry Reid, he can go to hell. To me, he's a corrupt, lying SOB, & he's damaging our nation.
If NPR is so beneficial and provides a service to the public, why does not harry take a few million he has made in "public service" and invest it NPR, take it private, harry can claim he made a profit from yet another "good investment: aka: ripping off the tax payers with his corrupt, self serving politician for hire or purchase!
