Obama’s OMB nominee has no formal budget training or experience, proves it at Senate hearing

Every once in a while a story comes along that reinforces our tagline: If we didn’t laugh, we’d cry.

Heather Higginbottom has no formal budget training or experience. So what, you may ask, qualifies her to be nominated as Deputy Director of the Office of Management & Budget other than having a name that sounds like it comes from a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta? Simple. She’s was once an advisor to President Obama’s presidential campaign.

Unfortunately, she proved her complete lack of experience in things fiscal in a Senate Budget Committee hearing on Thursday.

The Daily Caller has the sad display:

President Obama’s nominee for deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) tried, but failed to defend the proposed budget for fiscal year 2012 in a Senate Budget Committee hearing Thursday afternoon.

Obama’s nominee, Heather Higginbottom, crumbled under questioning from Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, ranking member of the committee, about the accuracy of statements the president and OMB Director Jacob Lew have made that the proposed budget will not add to the national debt.

The more than six-minute long questioning consisted of numerous exchanges that saw Higginbottom trying to dodge direct questions regarding the impact the president’s budget would have on the national debt.

Bottom line: She finally ‘fessed up and admitted that Obama’s 2012 budget not only doesn’t pay down the deficit, but adds to it.

Like we said, if we didn’t laugh, we’d cry.

  • A couple of thoughts. This woman's degree was in Political Science and she took a Masters in some equally pointless discipline. How smart could she be to accept this nomination knowing that she would be in front of a GOP dominated committee and she would have to try to defend Obama's deficit. No way any amount of preparation could have her ready for that and she should have known it.
    Second, when did Bill Clinton start to pick these nominees? The Senator should have asked her whether she liked cigars now.

I don't know who she slept with and what she did to get this nomination, but I cannot take this girl seriously and I disrespect her because I am sure she knows that she is not qualified and took the job anyway.

          OMB has made a bad name for themselves, refuting the lies (erm, *inadvertently omitted additional costs*) regarding ObamaCare. The donks feel that it is time they put in a zealot who will toe the official line, no matter what the numbers say.

          She may be incompetent where budgets are concerned, but where misdirection and outright lies are concerned, as a card-carrying member of the inner politburo, I'm sure she's a pro. Someone has to shield the public from the knowledge that it has been amateur night at the White House for two years running.

          A conservative cannot hide from the costs of their bills -- but with the press in the tank, all's the libs need to do is stop this one source of
          contradictory information, and then they can say whatever they want -- just like magic, social security is funded, and obamacare does not add to the deficit.Trillions of our tax dollars will just disappear.

          Among other fine truths out of this troll's mouth will be stuff like 'war is
          peace', 'truth is a lie', and 'pay no attention to the imbecile behind the
          curtain'.

          As a matter of fact, the more stupid and autocratic she is, the better -- it
          provides plausible deniability. When she is finally turned out for being the
          troll that she is, I'm sure Barry & Co. will be saying "We had *no* idea that she was unqualified.", hoping we will not realize that the person to blame for having incompetent staff is the person doing the hiring. The rot goes to the top, guys, the rot goes to the top.

    Obama has no executive experience, Geithner cheated on his taxes, Kagan had never been a judge. What the hell do you people expect here?

  • Do I dare say it? If I say it will it hurt someones tender little ego? Will I piss off some of the ladies here, and Barney Frank, if I say it? Probably, but I really do not care. The truth is the truth and sometimes it is raw and will offend those that cannot see the truth if it slapped them in the face. So I am going to say it anyway.

    When it comes to politics in Washington D.C., this woman is living proof that it isn't who you know, it's who you blow that gets you the job. Monica Lewinsky is the only exception to this rule.
