How did we miss this one: Arnold launches a think tank. There are times when it’s impossible to write material that’s funnier than the real news. Like now. According to the UK’s Telegraph, “Schwarzenegger, a Republican, also has launched a global policy think-tank in his name at the University of Southern California….” This must be the first time in history the words “Schwarzenegger” and “think tank” have been used in the same sentence. We can only assume the purpose of the think tank is to teach politicians how to run as conservative Republicans and govern as liberal Democrats. Screw you, Arnold, and the Kennedy you rode in on.

This morning I just happened to be talking with a worker doing some construction on our little slice of heaven. He was talking about a an incident where he was talking with a worker at the state unemployment office. He said he was told his extended unemployment benefits were cut off and the worker added, you can thank Arnold for that. The guy said Arnold is a butthead and should go back to making movies. Next thing you know the FBI is at this guys door for a little chat about his comments and they asked him about his relationships, how many guns he owned, if he had any explosive experience in the service, what nut groups he belonged to, etc. etc. They questioned his wife, photographed and fingerprinted him and sent him on his way. He has an actual copy of the conversation recorded by the Unemployment folks. Guess Arnold had thin skin.
Which begs the question: Where is Grace Jones today?

Many years ago when I was a young advertising copywriter I worked on an ad campaign for an airline that shall remain unnamed. The art director went to Mexico and got some tremendous photos of a gorgeous young couple standing chest deep in a tropical pond under a spectacular waterfall. Everyone at the ad agency thought it was a great shot and a great ad, but the client killed it and said, "I'm not running that ad. It's obvious what his hand is doing to her under the water." It's all in the mind of the beholder, Obumbly.

I had such high hopes for him and about him when I voted for him as governor and then he goes all good-time plastic banana on me and I had to move out of the state. He shouldn't have whimped out the way he did. I'm not overly inspired by anything that has the Schwarzenegger logo on it.
