• This is gridlock.. Because neither side is going to be able to implement their ideas, the election will be over proposals. Boehner will have the same problem that Howard Fineman describes

  • Actually, I'm a big fan of government gridlock. If the feds can't get anything to happen, then fewer bad things will happen.

    • I tend to agree.. I'm still of a mind that the scenario we had in the 90's worked pretty well (surpluses, attempts to discipline spending). I am leery of partisan blowouts from either side in 2012

      • alien, you cannot just sit there and wait for these pantywastes to do the right thing. I don't ever expect Democrats to, they've been against this union since the inception of this nation! Republicans are so infested with closet commies, and I think Boehner is one of them, along with his close cronies, that the only hope we have is to sweep the RINOs from office and positions of power and control and place constitutionally literate conservatives in their place. At least by doing that we don't create a third rail party and then, and only then, will this nation stand a better than even chance of surviving into the next century. I have no use for gutless banalities and saccharin sweet platitudes and more go along to get along weenies. If you're not willing to fight for what you believe in, then get the hell out of the way--lead, follow, or get out-of-the-way!

        We are starving for people who will pick up our cause and articulate it with confidence and passion...who's doing that for us now who's a real conservative? Yeah, just what I thought! I'm cynical, I'll believe it when I see it. Don't baffle me with BS, because as far as I'm concerned, if your lips are moving you're probably lying! WE and by we I mean conservatives, are the ones in the majority, and it's about time we started acting like men again. Red, black, yellow, brown or white; "We The People," as conservatives, still reign as the predominant religious, political, and social philosophy in this country, despite the best attempts of the MSM to convince us otherwise. They are the enemy in our midsts, the quisslings, the fifth column, the traitors and we should be screaming for their heads to be stuck on pikes and set publicly around the US capitol building; instead we voluntarily banish ourselves to our dens and watch vapid and pointless filth on the idiot box and eat cheetohs and drink copius amounts of adult malt beverages! WAKE UP AMERICA our country is being stolen from us before our very eyes and we're languorously watching reruns of Magnum PI!

          what about Ron Paul? He is like no other candidate I've heard. What are your objections.. is he too lenient on the gays?

        • There's things I like about him -- and things I heavily dislike about him. If the election was between him & Obama, it'd be Paul in a heartbeat. Then again, if a breadstick got into the mix, I'd be supporting our new yeasty overlord.

          The first problem I have is he's just a little too glib. Certain things about the libertarian platform have an appeal to me as a conservative -- and I know that a lot of the founding fathers were also viewed as a little "off" in their day. But I can't get past the antisemitism -- the "blame Israel first" mentality, and the "9/11 was our fault for provoking them" meme he has repeated is irritating beyond all belief. Both situations were a good deal more complex than that -- if one group was strictly at fault, it'd be easy to cast blame.

          I wonder about a man who says these things before getting elected -- what will he do *after* he gets in office. Bluster and bravado on the campaign trail is one thing -- I want to know how the man intends to lead.

        • Being a registered, dues paying Libertarian, I'd be perfectly happy to vote for Paul. I don't entirely agree with his assertion that terrorism is our fault, but I do agree with getting the hell out of most foreign entanglements.

        • AMEN to that! We are involved in way too much stuff for other nations' sake -- that's not our business. We need to confine our interventions to preserving our own interests -- e.g. if the Somali pirates attack our shipping, we make them regret it. If they leave us alone, we leave them alone.

      • I don't have a problem with forcing politicians to have to vet their ideas with each other, and also to watch each other -- if they can be trusted to do that. Problem is, what if they figure out how to collude with each other.

• So if I shouldn't judge President Obama on his performance, what should I judge him on, the people he surrounds himself with ?
  If I judge him by the Pelosi's , Ayers, Sunstein, Wright's and a host of communists its going to be far worse than if I judge him by his performance.

    • The nanny state white boys on the selection board for the damn prize probably gave him a Nobel simply because they didn't want anyone accusing them of being racists either.

      • The one in charge did say that the prize was for what he represents and what he can do for the world. Not for anything he did, but for what he could do. It was pathetic.

        • I guess they just kind of lost sight of what the Prize is supposed to represent. Liberals lose sight of what's important on a pretty regular basis.

          But I think that, contrary to what Howie here would like, I'll judge Obama on his accomplishments, or lack thereof, and once again, not vote for him in the next election.
