Just a few weeks ago, President Obama and Vice President Biden foolishly began touring the country and touting what they called “Recovery Summer.” Unfortunately, the economy has refused to cooperate. And the American people are calling it the Horse Hooey Summer.
Qunnipiac University has the depressing numbers:
The U.S. remains in a recession, 79 percent of voters tell the independent Quinnipiac University poll, compared to 74 percent who felt that way in May and 71 percent who said so in May of 2008, when the economy began its slide.
American voters say 52 – 44 percent the economy is not beginning to recover. Only 23 percent say the economy is getting better, while 31 percent say it is getting worse and 44 percent see no change. In May, 32 percent of voters thought the economy was getting better, while 24 percent said it was getting worse and 43 percent saw no change.
Summer of Recovery doesn’t seem to be working. And Summer of our Discontent makes a lousy slogan.
It’s a quandrey for the President. What’s a socialist to do?

Recovery?? Man, where do those 23% work?
There ain't no recovery going on.
"...Man, where do those 23% work?"
You're assuming they work!
I'm guessing that if they do work, they must be on the receiving end of the Fabulous Obama Porkulous Bill.
If you are a welfare slave, do you really care about the recession?
Say it with me & repeat it 3 times...
ALL HAIL THE RECIPIENT...
ALL HAIL THE RECIPIENT...
ALL HAIL THE PECIPIENT...
...because the recipient, or ZERO LIABILITY VOTER, is the most important person to the Dems. They vote for people who provide them benefits from the system, but never pay into the system. It will be a tyanny of the majority who pay no taxes, that is the base that Obama is building his empire on.
And it will crumble as all have before
Summer of recovery, my azz! If anyone needs the freelance services of a professional editor (mainly books), e-me!! Not getting enough work! Publishers' lists are smaller, and those who've been most recently laid off from full-time staff work are taking projects away from we longtime freelancers. I had fifteen years' experience in-house (managing editor, copy chief, etc.) and now fifteen years as a freelance. Caretaking of dev. disabled bro prevents me from commuting to NYC and working on staff. I'd be away from home for a minimum of twelve hours a day and would have to earn enough to pay a caretaker. With NYC, NYS, NJ taxes, and the cheapness of the book-publishing industry...fuggedaboutit! (Sorry, but the headline prompted venting and a plea for work...)
No problem. Seems to be a lot of that going around these days. not quite pandemic yet but..... As someone once said, "These are the times that try men's ( and women's) souls". A little venting's ok, reduces stress etc. And who knows, maybe someone passing through the site needs an editor. Can't hurt to try. Best wishes.
You're very kind, sir! And don't worry about adding the feminine pronoun to adages, sayings, and so forth on my account. I'm almost 55 years old, and never once, from childhood onward, have I ever felt excluded because of the masculine pronoun. I know it includes both genders. Most important: thank you for your service!! God bless!
I would guess that 23% "work" for the government.
And thank you for the pic of Annette Full-o-jello. Brings back fond memories of afternoons watching the MM Club.
That is EXACTLY what I was about to say. Either these people just found jobs (doubtful) or they are working for the government and were just told they were getting a hike in pay next year.
Exactly what I was thinking Mistella, that 23% must be in congress.
