Think of it as bad cop and badder cop. Republican Senators James Inhofe of Oklahoma and John Barrasso of Wyoming teamed up on Obama Science Guru John Holdren, who had predicted global cooling back in the ‘70s.
The Daily Caller has the details:
The exchange started with Barrasso addressing the committee’s witness, Environmental Protection Agency Director Lisa Jackson.
“Forty years ago, the same scientists that are predicting the end of the world now from global warming were predicting the end of the world from global cooling,” said Barrasso. “So if we had committed the same amount of taxpayer resources and government manpower that the administration now wants us to commit to prevent global warming — if we’d done that prevent global cooling, we wouldn’t be the most prosperous nation on earth.”
He continued: “The fact is that the same doomsday predictions we were getting 40 years is the exact same thing this agency and this administration today. Only now…the problem is man-made global warming.”
… Still later, Inhofe got into the science debate by citing a 1971 study by Dr. John Holdren, who just so happens to be President Obama’s advisor on science technology. In that study Holdren wrote, “The effects of a new ice age on agriculture and the supportability of large human populations scarcely need elaboration here.” Holdren went on to write that the effects could “generate a tidal wave of proportions unprecedented in recorded history.”
A visibly satisfied Inhofe then turned to Boxer, and stated, “So even the president’s people are agreed with me, Madam Chairwoman!”
Inhofe and Barrasso must have felt like that old Steales Wheel song: “Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you.”
The video really is worth watching if for no other reason that to watch Barbara Boxer attempt to control events as they spiral out of control. Damn, we’re so proud to have her as our Senator.

And people wonder why I tell them science is not all that reliable, despite the fact that I have an undergraduate science degree! What is "fact" today is "old wive'stale or myth" tomorrow!
... And the bulls__t from the left never seems to stop.
These scientists (sic) are totally consistent. Back then they blamed global cooling on fossil Fuel. Dust particles in the atmosphere were blocking out the sun.
Truth is, they just hate being warm in the winter.
Oh they will still be warm in the winter. What they hate is for us to be warm in the winter...or to have lights at night.
Truth is, they just hate for the gravy train to stop.
Newsflash for the esteemed Sens Boxer and Udall:
the notion that there is a broad-based consensus that global warming is man-made, inevitable, and catastrophic is also a myth.
If you knew those idiot Udalls like I do, you would understand his statements. That cousin of his from Colorado isn't any better either. Liberal fools that think we cannot get by without "Big Brother" watching over us.
It appears that the consensus is man-made, not the global warming.
In this case, using the term "man" very loosely
No level of bullshit is too deep for these PHdoorknobs hustling research grants that inevitably produce "inconclusive results due to not enough funding." I've heard it so often from people presenting their research dissertations it seems to be automatic.
I have the solution for our globull warming problem! Get rid of "unleaded" gasoline. Give us plain old leaded gas with octane ratings above 90. Build cars that have a 440 c.i.d. engine, like the early 'Cudas had. The 427 Chevy motors, the 429 Fords, give us a real muscle car that runs on regular, leaded, gasoline!
After all, scientists were saying over 40 years ago that pollution from these great cars were causing the earth to cool down so lets bring them back to do some more cooling! What an easy concept! Pollute the atmosphere more to reverse the effects of trying to clean up our atmosphere! What a bunch of morons.
You forgot what I have in the 68 Caddy, the 472.
A '68 Caddy? You sure it doesn't have the 500 c.i.d. mill under the hood?
You get gas down to 30 cents a gallon, and I'm all over this one.
All we have to do is open up sections of the Bakken field in North Dakota, parts of ANWR in Alaska, and start drilling! Get some pumpjacks going in all the capped wells you see scattered over thousands of square miles in west Texas and southeastern New Mexico! Scare the crap out of the middle east nations and speculators that are robbing us in this country and the price will come down in a hurry.
Great ideas... all they require is some presidential leadership that is pro-America and business leadership that is pro-American consumer.
perlcat's 30 cents/gallon is a.k.a. the good old days.
Now I know I am getting old. When I was a teen I bought gas for 25 cents, sometimes as low as 20 cents if the local stations were having a "gas war".
Young whippersnapper! I can remember when gas was routinely 10-12 cents a gallon (with oil check, radiator check and windshield wash included) and during gas wars as low as 3-4 cents a gallon. Ahhhhh. The good old days!
You are either older than my grandmother, who would be 92 if she were still alive, or full of crap. She told me a lot of stories about her youth, growing up on a farm in east Texas, and I remember them all. In your case, I'm hoping you are that old instead of the alternative.
I will turn 60 this year and grew up everywhere-my Dad was USAF. I traveled in Alaska, California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Wyoming, Oregon, Georgia, Virginia, Kentucky,Tennessee, Florida, Canada and God know where else, all in a car. Trust me I know what of I speak and am NOT, as you elegantly assume, full of crap. Perhaps I simply had more exposure than your Grandmother. I also traveled in all areas of Texas, which is like another 5 states.
Guess the recycled fraud is sorry he went to the hearing. It's so funny to hear the words of the alarmist back in the 70's as they try to preach about a different alarm today that is a complete 180 from their 70's diatribe. .
Just think, if we had put 100% effort into fighting global cooling back in the 70s, we'd all be melted now!
