Why does Joy Behar have a career on television?
She’s completely classless, completely clueless and considering the fact that she bills herself as a comedian, completely laughless.
We have a friend who hates sitcoms because, he says, all character development ends far too soon in most of them and each character quickly devolves into increasing exaggerations of his or her most prominent trait.
Based on that description, can The View be described as anything but a sitcom?

Joy Behar shouldn't be allowed on TV; what a waste of a human being. Shame on ABC for giving her a job.
Joy Behar is pitiful! Why doesn't she do her homework? She has no idea what's going on and asks the dumbest questions to her guests. Her sarcastic comments, which apparently SHE thinks are funny, are actually ridiculous, classless, and down right idiotic! HLN should be ashamed of themselves for carrying her show. She often sits there like a deer in headlights when her guests answer her questions. This is because she really has no clue about the actual subject matter. She's the epitome of the dumbing down of America.

I still blame Barbara Walters for having no control over this henfest that passes for daytime TV. She learned nothing from Rosie, & she really needs to clamp down of the borish behaviour of Joy & Whoopi.
The most frightening thing about this 'program' (and I'm being very generous here!) is when you hear this mutant POS make such a statement,...and the audience applauds her!! As I keep saying, when a poll finds 'Americans' support Obongo to the tune of 40+ % you start to sense that there is no hope for us. You mean to say that while our backs were turned 40+ % of 'Americans' are socialists, communists, fascists and anarchists??? 40+ % want to destroy America? Destroy the Constitution? Live under a dictator? What the hell happened?
The short answer?
Give up television for a month, and you will see it.
American TV kills your intelligence, destroys your attention span, fills your head with lib propaganda. Face it, there are laugh tracks on TV for a reason -- the writers feel people are too stupid to know when something is funny. People go along with it due to mob psychology. Nobody wants to be the odd man out.
After you've detoxed, try watching something from, say, the 1950's -- like a Johnny Carson show -- the subtle humor people had then was really something.
I gave up TV over 5 years ago, and I don't miss it a bit. I have tons of time to get all kinds of stuff done I never used to have the time for. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't allow one in the house while raising kids. It makes good kids into morons.
TV is like the internet, it is what you make it. That said, TV today has progressed in extreme ways, both good & bad. Sadly, the bad is what gets attention these days. I will blame Mtv in large part because they really lit the fire that has become reality TV, & the fuse was "The Real World". Now look at Mtv & it's spinoff channels, way more "reality" then music, with VH1 Classic being the exception. I hate most TV as much as you do, & I agree with you completely about Johnny Carson. I miss him, that is a part of my past that I can never get back.
The good about TV is the choices in news, sports, history, & other types of "educational" TV. The technology in how TV is presented is amazing, & from that standpoint, will get better. But the bad does seem to outweigh the good these days. I do think that society today has been desenitized to what we have been exposed to over the years, much like building a high level of tollerence to alcohol, it's not really healthy. I hope we as a nation can survive what the culture becomes. The cure is what the fight will be about as we move forward.
The thing is, while I was immersed in it, I had no idea how many commercials and how much junk was in there. My limit for network tv is under 20 minutes now -- in that time, I will have seen about fifty commercials. When I watch news, it is nearly completely content-free, and I just can't stand the waste of time.
I still watch a few things, but I can't blame you for feeling the way you do. One channel that has been ruined within the past year is Animal Planet. It's almost all shows involving attacks of people. I don't need to see clips of people being mauled, or reinactments of animals attacking people. Much of the time, I find myself with the sound off & listening to the radio, usually XM.
It is just plain sad that they can't even show animals without going lurid/sleazy. The people doing this are world class creeps.
Yeah, we went from 3 channels barely fit to watch to 20 channels unfit to watch, and then I quit when there was 300 channels unfit to watch and was paying $60 a month to have people talk down to me.
I know, we all wonder about that, but the truth has been revealed: to be Sharron Angle's Useful Idiot...she was too awful to be a Village Idiot, too scary for kids...

Man I really did try to make it through the whole thing, but it makes me sick.
These women have no idea what they are talking about. They cry racism, but honestly one of our biggest issue *is* Mexicans and Hispanics coming over the border. Not legal immigrants from those countries, but those that are crossing illegally. Why can't people get that through their head?
Maybe these gals need to live where i Live for awhile and see the damage it is doing. Get out of New York and LA, come and live in Southern Arizona, South Cali, New Mexico, Texas....
I'm not a white man afraid of the boogyman, I'm a person that wants a world where my children and my friends children can grow up without having to see some of the crap that goes on now.
And that is something that transcends race. IMHO these gals are more racist then the actual political ad they are harping on because they are making broad assumptions about white people.
