“HUNG FU.” Is this the worst headline ever? The best headline ever? Or both?

In a rapidly changing world, there’s always one thing you can count on: Remarkably graphic, if not always tasteful, headlines from the New York Post.

For example, they announced the possibly accidental, possible suicide, possible homicide death of actor David Carridine with the headline “Hung Fu.”

On one hand, we can say it’s incredibly tasteless.

On the other hand, the odds of a guy accidentally hanging himself while performing auto-erotic asphyxiation in a town called Bangkok while making a movie called “Stretch” would be unbelievable if someone made it up.

It’s the tragic-comic trifecta.

  • The New York Post. It's all New York. I've never seen a newspaper that reflected the New York mystique any better! Live long and prosper Post!

  • Worst headline ever in my opinion. In really bad taste. No respect for him or his family, just insensitive.

  • What else would you expect from one of new York's FinestVanity newspapers who once gave us the famous "HEADLESS MAN IN TOPLESS BAR"?

  • Dee Mac, as you can see by the time I posted it, I was well into the martini's when I posted that....which is probably what led to the confusion..

  • Ocmadam, that was a good one - I was still drinking my coffee when I read it - cleaning the computer screen as we speak!

  • i also liked the other headline "Hamas thugs watch bam woo muslims" it took me a minute before i realized that bam woo muslims weren't a band of hookers and strippers in burkas

  • If the autoerotic self strangulation stuff is true, then that'll be what David will be remembered for in popular culture and that's a crying shame. Then again if the story is true, then it's worth a few deep belly laughs just for the sheer stupidity of it all.
    RIP Dave, ya nut!

    • Did dying on the toilet ruin Elvis?

Or was it the Fat Elvis years?

      Did AEA ruin Carradine?

Or was it "Kung Fu: The Legend Returns"?

  • It was groan and cringe worthy while being accurate and succinct. So I have no idea what that makes it. I don't like it but I sure understood it.
