If you weren’t around before 1979, you may think the people of Iran have always been 13th century lunatics.
Not so.
These two photos perfectly demonstrate the difference between the theocratic Iran of today and the Iran of 30 years ago that was the most westernized country in the middle east. (You can see dozens of other photos of surprisingly Westernized, pre-secular Iran here).
Iranian Akhbar Ganji describes the 1979 Iranian revolution as an event that “promised us heaven, but… created a hell on earth.”

It is fine to wear Hijab but do remember this:
1. It should be YOUR own choice to do so. A regime forcing people to wear it/brainwashing people to wear it is not a good thing ever. Or a husband, father, etc. doing the same. It should be 100% your own choice.
2. Islam does not require you to wear it. Your choice to wear it is a fashion choice not a religious choice ever. Some dictator originated the idea it is compulsory in religion (Orthodox Christian dictator for that religion by the way and NOT a Muslim for Islam). So why should an Islamic Republic impose an Orthodox Christian law onto their people?
3. Of course, it is as bad to tell people NOT to wear Hijab as it is to tell people to wear it. It is the same thing. France banning Hijab again smacks of a dictatorial government who want to force thier own will on another.
I've been to Iran. It was back when I was in Flock of Seagulls. We were slated to play for the King's birthday party. This is because he thought our big hit song "I Ran So Far Away" was all about a young expat that came to lament that he had opposed the revolution and was sorrowfully commenting on the gap that lay between him and his homeland. This of course had nothing to do it what the song was really about. Chalk it up to another victim of the imperialism of Amerika and things getting lost in translation.
Anyway the King never learned about his mistake. Not long after that he declared war on greece and we were all conscripted into the armed forced and had to go fight in a place calle Thermapolio. It was real harsh conditions. Everywhere there was rain and mud and trench warefare and people in zeppelins dropping hot boiling oil on our heads. Luckily we met this cool guy named Leo Nidas. He was real excellent and let us hand out with him. He liked our music and all and after the war we got to play a big concert in the Parthenon. It was awesome!

Why has Islam let such a narrowminded bogotted version of it dominate? I read once that is was Saudi zealots who funded a lot of this. Like Christianity, there are in reality many strands of Islam - some moderate, some not - but all we hear about are these negative, hardline zealots who have no place in any religion if truth be known. We need more from the other voices in Islam.
Christianity has also had its fair share of nutcases who burned so-called witches at the stake, banned moderate consumption of alcohol, killed Jewish people, went to war, etc. and there are still these types in Christianity but we have thankfully marginalised them since World War 2 (with one or two exceptions such as 1990s Yugoslavia). Islam needs to do the same.
Islam bans drunks, nudes, murderers and thieves and NOT moderate consumers of alcohol, women who want to dress as they please. While states like Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia excecute their murderers and thieves, their governments continue to murder and steal from their people!!
And Iranian people don't want any form of stoats. Be that the Shah Pahlavi or the Shah Khamenei. Both looked after their own to the detriment of their people. The people of Iran do not want so-called "Islamic" dictatorship or secular dictatorship. They are sick of both and have had both. They want secular democracy.
Change is coming in Iran. Most people want rid of the regime and the regime will not do a thing anymore to stop people from being free. The stoats - freemasons - have had their day in Iran.
By the way, those stupid laws are only for the poor and unpolitically connected in Iran. The rich stoats (the creme de la creme!) live the way of the women in the first photo. Rafsanjani family and Khamenei family and all them. They are stoats (freemasons), and Khamenei is a Shah.
Ahmadinjad is a stoat. A stoat of the 3rd degree. There are circles within circles within cirlces. All politicians and the creme de la creme are stoats. And Ahmadinejad is creme!!! Or so he thinks!
Iran will overthrow this unfair dictatorship where if you are rich, you can dress well, drink alcohol and do all those other things that will get the poor into trouble. As for the whole gay thing, 50-70% of the Revolutionary Guards - the real dictators of Iran - are gay! Once again, it is okay for them to be so, but not otherwise.

I know about Iran's persecution of Christians, Jews (if they live there) and other group like gays and lesbian in fact the death penalty is freely imparted upon gays and lesbians... This is of course horrible in the context that Ahmidiot actually said that there were no gays in his country. Guess why not? because he and his govt are exterminating them. This is why I want Rosie O'Donnell and her ilk to move over there and try to make it for a month or two. When Ahmigwhatever comes to the US talking his hateful nonsense I dont see Rosie or GLAAD or NOW or whateverfeminist organization nor the media, on protesting him coming to this country or just protesting against him and Iran in general. Like always it is Conservatives, Christians and many Jews who stand up. It seems as if most of the people are blinded to Iran and the serious threat they pose to the entire world.

People with brains (that would include those of us concerned about Islamic Jihad, and those of us who try to inform our fellow citizens about the dangers) know very well that the 2nd picture doesn't represent THE ENTIRE NATION OF IRAN. Duh.
We know very well that , generally, the people of Iran loathe their theocractic abusers.
But we also know that if the Govt had its way, the entire population would be like the 2nd picture and thus the 2nd picture is a visual warning about what a threat the regime is to world stablity.
It also alludes to the determination of Persians , that if used and abused for evil purpose, can be quite a formidable threat.
