A missing comma reveals the real truth at Los Angeles immigration rally

immigration law protest sign

On one hand, we think the guy who wrote the sign meant to say, “You owe us, America.”

On the other hand, the missing comma – intentional or not – probably makes the sign a more accurate reflection of the crowd’s true feelings.

  • If you think that photo is real, you are a bigger problem to this country than any illegal issues we have.

    • Really?

So... believing in a picture being real is much more of a problem that what illegal immigration brings to the country?

      really?

      okay then...

      • Yes - it is. If you believe that picture is real then you are too far gone to be a decent and impartial judge of what types of things are real and fake. You are naive, and have already made your mind about things. Therefore you will not be able to provide any rational input on matters.

I get 3-5 emails a week with this type of baloney. It scares me the amount of people who actually believe things without the mindset to seek the truth. It can be done with the click of a mouse.

Anyway - just scary where things like this go, to what kind of people, and how they then take it and it builds a perception and affects the way they treat people, etc etc...

        • Whether the pic is real or not, is irrelevant in reality. The illegal immigration issue, is the issue, totally forgotten by many of us. Ignoring illegal immigration is a dangerous problem for the US, period. Overloading our system on every level increases the costs of the system, and along with all the other irresponsible policies of this inept and incompetent administration and the last congress, to a point of imminent catastrophe. Is this what any sane person covets? No, its not...but then, we are talking about liberals, and liberalism is proven to be a mental disorder, so the ones that covet this issue are obviously not sane.....

          • "Is this what any sane person covets? No, its not…but then, we are talking about liberals, and liberalism is proven to be a mental disorder, so the ones that covet this issue are obviously not sane….."

And only an insane person would argue this...

        • Somewhere in this thread you'll find a comment from our PhotoShop expert, who tells us that the bottom half of the sign has been photoshopped in, but that the top half is authentic.

  • Interesting to note that the photogragher has never come forward among all this controversy to identify himself or prove its athenticity. We have also not heard from the man in the picture who could easily be identified by anyone who knows him. If authorities believed the picture was real this man would be in jail for threatening LEOs. And you can best believe we would have heard about that, too. Nor is any serious news station touching this one.
Its just like the Devil to throw us into chaos and controversy and watch from the shadows, laughing to himself.

  • The photo is photoshopped.
i am a professional Photoshop artist at Fox Television and can tell you without doubt that the sign in the photo is bogus.
The letters are not written with a poster marker but appear to have all the characteristics of being "airbrushed" by the Airbrush pen in Photoshop. That is the most common method of writing by hand in Photoshop.
This photo is commonly credited as being taken in AZ, but it has the LA Times building in it. That photo was taken at the May Day rally 2010 in L.A.

Who would fake a sign in a photo like that you ask?

Well Infamous Propagandist Joseph Goebbels would have given his right arm to have the ability to fake photos. He stirred the masses and divided them against one another to help Hitler rise to power.
Imagine Hitler waving photos of Jews holding signs that said "Down with Germany" or of Gays or socialists holding signs that said "We're coming to get you, Germany!"

If a photo seems unlikely, it just may be untrue. Don't buy the lie.

  • I'm a little surprised that nobody has pointed out that this didn't even happen in AZ. And, if they lied about the location/event, shouldn't that make the wording suspicious, too? You can go to:
    http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2010/05/08/protest-sign-we-will-shoot-more-police-in-arizona.htm
for a discussion of it. So far, no one has proven it to be real or a fake, but it sure seems convenient to have all the issues that Americans have with this issue right here on one lil ol' sign. Awful convenient. . . or awful lazy of some photoshopper. So--for those of you that are willing to arrest the guy for terroristic threats that (I personally think) he may never have made, shame on you. But I would expect nothing less of people that I bet had no problem forwarding this picture as if it was confirmed to be real. How about trying to argue with truth and logic, or has that gone the wayside with the advent of the internet?

  • Where the hell is ICE when these illegals are congregating en masse to bitch about how much we all suck and what racists we are for wanting them to be in the country LEGALLY. They should be there with a net to scoop up as many as possible to throw out of the country! Kick the rest of them out too. NO AMNESTY.

    • The link launches a whole stream, but it starts with a woman holding a "stop illegal immigration" sign, a stop sign on yellow. Is that the one you're talking about? I'd say not a fake if only because another fellow later in the stream holds the same sign with some added stickers at a much trickier angle.

  • Im on Photoshop all day long too. My guess is, its fake. I could change out all the text on the the image and make it look even more convincing than it is now.

It doesnt matter. The discuss is about what the image portrays. Its not like IHTM is nothing but serious political news stories.

The image shows a sign that many of us feel is exactly what immagrants coming to this country expect of America.

    That is the real discussion.

    • yea, but suggesting the text was changed out (with some extra letters faked, of course) seems kinda silly when you look at the lettering

which is the strange part of this for me, the letters on the bottom actually seem like they were written by someone else (possible, not necessarily photoshop, but just somebody that gave him an extra part to the sign, this is supported by the fact that the red letter sign was taped on) the letters in there though, are inconsistent in their writing style, i thought for sure that was evidence of something here, until i realized that the whole sign is done this way so really, either the whole sign is shopped (highly doubtful) or....he sucks at writing (despite spanish using roman characters, bad form can indicate a second language)

  • This is the worst Photoshop job in history. You should be ashamed of yourselves running this crap. It discredits us badly. Take it down.

    • Read my comment to W above. The black wording -- the only wording we spoke of in the article -- was possibly faked.

And I possibly, because using photoshop does not mean you are faking something. For example, someone could have been trying to take the shadows out of the area of importance, with is the message on the sign. One could have cut that portion out, enhanced it for clarity, and pasted it back in.

  • I will assume that this individual was haul off to prison or else deported since this is hate and violent speech...

I will also assume that the media show this because after all the media just hates astroturf violent speaking hateful protestors...

What EXACTLY does the US owe these people?

Absolutely culmt... Absolutely all the priviledges and benefits without the responsibilities, nor the work attached. Sounds like a person who wants to get married to have sex with the person and own the person sexual rights (so to speak), but doesn't want to be faithful to that person, nor work at keeping the marriage healthy for the other person. If everyone were to act this way or have this attitude at ANYTHING (marriage, work, fatherhood/motherhood, etc) we would live in the most selfish of societies where good people would be completely wiped out. That kind of country would not be sustainable at all. The me first, me last and me always mentality is not healthy nor sustainable. It is actually very scary. I would rather not live if I were to be presented with such a place to live in.
