Like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Former Congressman Dick Armey appeared on Sunday’s Meet The Press. Armey mentioned that MoveOn.org had once run commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf Hilter. Rachel Maddow (or it it Ron Reagan Jr.? We can never tell those two apart) was shocked.
“They didn’t do it,” Maddow insisted. “MoveOn.org never ran an ad that compared Bush and Hitler.”
Armey just smiled knowingly and revealed he had watched the despicable ad that morning.
This commercial, perhaps.

Facts are simple - Dick said MoveOn ran an ad comparing Bush to Hitler. they did not. Maddow called him on the facts, and Dick stuck to his lie. True believers stick with Dick and believe his lie.
Equating Bush, or anyone to Hitler is pointless, from an intellectual or logical perspective. Noting that Bush was told that a terrorist attack was coming, that the terrorists intended to attack the Twin Towers, that they intended to use aircraft as weapons, that Bush upon receipt of this information dismissed his briefer by telling him to get out he had covered his ass, and that Bush took no action of any sort to detect the attackers, to prevent their attack or any acts of any kind to defend the nation has a point - that being to point out that Bush was at the least criminaly negligent in the performance of his duties, and that his willful negligence resulted in the deaths of American citizens.
Bill Clinton was told the same thing and he did nothing about it.
(What the hell, if Randy is going to play make believe so will I.)
Rachel Maddow is a lying cow. On her Air America show SHE said despicable things i wouldn't even repeat here. Not only is she ugly as hell, but she's a liar to boot.
You right wingers are so predictable, calling Maddow a cow, talking about her looks, comparing her to Ron Reagan Jr., and then when your bigotry is called out talking about "truth and logic".
Most of my friends are nice middle class folk who work all day (if they can find it) and then escape into TV or their iPods, and it used to be that they weren't much interested in politics and would roll their eyes when I brought it up. But you folks have changed that, and now all I have to do is say "teabag scum" and they start nodding, and chipping in about how awful you are. There was recently a teabagger march down the main street here, and I walked along on the sidewalk calling out "stupidest people in America" -- every single person I said that to who wasn't in the march gave a thumbs up or other agreement.
pander to the lowest and you will attract the lowest....example...see OCTOMOM....
In the UK they got one with 12 in the bun.
Isn't that crazy?
I tuned into Mr. Maddow last night...it is actually quite commical...I think the entire time they ran stuff about Fox news and evil republican...what would she talk about if it wasn't about beating sterotypes into the ground...seriously?
"This is the worst and most vile form of political hate speech," Ed Gillespie, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said in one of several statements he issued. He urged the nine Democrats running for president to repudiate the advertisements.
But it's now OK for Rush Limbaugh, leader of the Republican party, to compare Obama to Hitler, and for other Republican leaders to completely lie about health care reform, to the point where they're telling everyone Obama wants to kill their babies and grandmothers, and to paint swastikas on a Democratic politician's sign. Nice hypocrisy there, conservatards.
Limbaugh's comparison is between the policies Obama intends to impose, and those of the National Socialist party in Germany (you know... Nazi's). Maybe if you listened to him instead of what others say he says you'd have caught the difference.
It's a boneheaded, hyperbolic and inaccurate comparison, meant to scare people, and lots of people find it highly offensive, just not the same Republican leadership, etc. that had a problem with an anonymous video about Bush (eg: hypocrisy).
Who gives a fck what you find offensive.
You better brace yourself because an Anti-Obama tsunami is building in this country and your feelings will not be considered.
In fact you may want to pretend you're not a supporter for when the wrath comes
I linked to some other groups who were offended, not myself, genius. And bring on your racist revolution of nincompoops.
You're (d00d) the racist. Why do you exclude non-whites from being americans?
d00d didn't mention "Americans", just "your racist revolution of nincompoops". You seem to be equating those teabagger nincompoops with "Americans". But then it is you who are excluding non-whites from being Americans, because the teabaggers are over 98% white.
there's that race card. when truth and logic can't support your argument, it's convenient to have racism to fall back on. If you're going to use it. prove it.
"truth and logic"? BWAHAHAHA! These are not things that right wingers value -- what they value are the beliefs they already have, and they employ truth and logic only insofar as they support those beliefs, and abandon them as soon as they don't.
Well, you didn't think it was wrong to compare the President to Hitler for the last eight years. What makes you think it's wrong now?
Hmmm ...?
Go look in the mirror if you want to see the biggest hypocrite in this thread.
PS: I would bet anything the Democratic politician painted that swastika on himself, or hired someone to do it.
"PS: I would bet anything the Democratic politician painted that swastika on himself, or hired someone to do it."
This is a fallacy of the assumed hypothetical -- a favorite among right wingers, who are invariably intellectually dishonest.
Hypocrisy doesn't work that way. It's always they guy who defends something by claiming (without evidence) that the other guy did or would have done the same who is a hypocrite. There is a standard term for this sort of hypocrisy -- "tu quoque fallacy".
Riiiight. There was Democratic leadership comparing Bush to Hitler? Or just that one entry in a contest equals the entire Dem party equating Bush to Hitler for eight years? Do you actually have a point?
PS: I would bet anything the Democratic politician painted that swastika on himself, or hired someone to do it.
And there just happened to be far-right loonies there protesting at the time. Sure.
You really must be suffering from recto-cranial inversion.
You cite Rush Limbaugh (who is not and has never been an elected Republican official) as proof that the entire GOP is comparing Obama to Hitler and then you demand that we must cite Democratic elected officials before we can point out that Democrats did the exact same thing with Bush?
Your attempt at double standards are pathetic. If you can cite Limbaugh and expand that to mean the entire Republican Party, then I cite George Soros, who actually owns the Democratic Party and it would even more apply to the Democrats. And this is not to mention your celebrities, your so-called intellectuals releasing books titled "The Nazification of America" and your Leaders in Congress trooping en masse to see Fahrenheit 9/11.
Then we have Keith Ellison, an actual serving member of the House, Al Gore referring to Bush White House staff as "Brownshirts", Robert (KKK Kleagle and longest serving Democrat Senate Majority Leader) Byrd saying Bush reminds him of Goering, etc.
So let me get this straight ... you were unconscious for the past eight years? All the anti-Bush rallies and marches where Leftists carried scores of professional/home-made posters of Bush=Hitler comparisons just passed you by?
Would you like to try running that by me again?
Giving perfect cover for David Scott to try and pull that move off, especially since liberal journalists will certainly not investigate any further and pin the blame on the protesters who are complicating the plans of their man-god in the White House.
After all, cui bono? Who stood to benefit most from it getting on the news? It's easy to see that it was David Scott himself - and it's not as if Leftists don't have a long history of faking hate crimes for fun and profit.
So, my position stands; it's far more likely Scott, a staffer or one of his supporters (with or without his knowledge) did this than any of the people who only want to ask him a few tough questions.
Anything else?
Grow a skin. Clinton was a serial murderer, Serial rapist, drug runner, etc., ad nauseam. Yet, Ken Star spent 70 million in taxpayer dollars turning over every rock in Bill's personal life and found nothing. And yes, Boss Limbaugh is the voice, leader and shaper of the Republican party.
"So, my position stands; it’s far more likely Scott, a staffer or one of his supporters (with or without his knowledge) did this than any of the people who only want to ask him a few tough questions."
That's a completely baseless and silly accusation you're making up to get a talking point. If the right loonies actually had some legitimate question, it would be one thing, but you have people like this whose only intention is to disrupt the discourse with hyperbolic, paranoid and delusional nonsense. Most of these people don't even know that medicare is a govt run program. They're completely divorced from reality.
And if you can cite one single elected Republican official saying that stuff then you'd have a point - not a significant one but something. And no, Limbaugh never said any of that stuff - Clinton's malfeasance was enough without needing to add to it.
BTW, if you're going to start citing crazies and attributing their views to the entire GOP, then turn-about is fair play. I mean, your leading lights don't believe fire can melt steel and up to 50% of progressives right now are certain that Trig Palin is the product of incest between his father and sister. I've encountered idiots on your side who honestly believed that Bush had secretly imprisoned over one million people i.e. "dissenters" in secret concentration camps somewhere in "flyover" country.
Whatever. Newsflash: just because the god you worship (the rest of us call him Barack Obama and think he's just a man) says something doesn't automatically make it true. And besides, it still beats having a KKK "Kleagle" and "Cyclops" as the most honored member of your Senate caucus.
Yeah right. Right after Nancy Pelosi accuses Town Hall attendees of all being Nazis, a swastika appears on David Scott's sign? Right when it would give him a little sympathy boost after having a meltdown and insulting his constituents on camera?
How so very convenient. Exactly like how Democrats caught with their hands in the cookie jar always start claiming to be the targets of mysterious non-traceable "death threats."
I'll grow a skin right after you grow a brain.
Ken Starr found nothing, well, except for money laundring in the Whitewater affair, possible murder and perjury. Nothing too serious.
The Libtards do not realize yet that the Internet has changed everything. They can't just say things are true, when there is evidence otherwise.
Well, they can say it...but we then are free to ridicule with evidence.
What about the whole pr campaign from moveon.org centering on the phrase "General Betrayus" . Despicable bordering on treason in a time of war.
Maddow didn't lie. MoveOn.org did NOT create the ad. It was one of 1500 submissions to a contest MoveOn ran in 2003. They removed it from their site once it was brought to their attention.
Read more about it here:

There was such an uproar about it at the time, there is no way Dick Armey could have missed it. He knew that it was NOT a MoveOn ad, yet he made a decision to LIE about it on Meet The Press.
Not very smart. Especially since it's such a simple thing to do a search and find the TRUTH online.
To use your words...
"Like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel. "
And to rephrase one of your statements...
Armey just smiled KNOWING HE WAS TELLING A LIE and revealed he had watched the despicable ad that morning.
First of all, Armey did not say MoveOn created the ad - he said they ran the ad. And they did. On their website, giving it their endorsement. They only took it down when it became clear that they were aiming at their own clown shoes and squeezing the trigger.
Personally, I'm disturbed that neither Armey nor Coburn recognized and took the opportunity to really let David Gregory have it on his and Fourth Estate's hypocrisy. Where has he been the last eight years? Where was this concern for civil discourse and respect for the Presidency when the President wore an 'R' behind his name? Oh yes, I know ... sneering at the President in the White House Press Room. The double standard is beyond blatant. It actually gets up and slaps you in the face.
Bush with a Hitler mustache has been the feature of every Left-Wing march and protest for eight years, even before 9/11 and the Iraq War. This is not to mention the posters (and a movie) calling for his assassination, accusing him of bringing down the Twin Towers, etc. and every other evil under the sun. That Rachel Madcow Maddow, once of Air America where this was SOP for eight years is claiming outrage at this is enough hypocrisy by itself to curdle milk.
Not a single member of the MSM batted an eyelid at all this for eight long years. In fact their typical response is perfectly illustrated by CNN's disgrace of a former employee Susan Roesgen when she saw Bush being portrayed as Hitler with devil horns in 2006 - amusement and as a hook for her story.
Obama on the other hand, gets the exact same treatment and Roesgen, like the rest of her so-called impartial objective hack brethren, goes crazy.
So all this so-called "concern" by the Fourth Estate about the President being compared to Hitler and the "harsh tone" is really nothing more than whining that their new god is getting a taste of what his predecessor endured without complaint and with their tacit approval and even assistance for the whole of his two terms.
In these Youtube days, you do not need to run an "ad" on TV for it to be an ad. Many political campaigns, and companies like GoDaddy, run "ads" on their sites and subsequently on Youtube and other video-sharing sites, knowing that they do not need to buy airtime for it as they know they can go viral on their on.
And we don't believe that the Hitler ad submission "slipped through." There is no way that a submission was not reviewed and okayed before going up. No way. Period. Websites don't work that way. In the warped minds of yours, Moveon's, the DailyKooks and the rest, the ad is just fine, thank you. Bush IS Hilter, we heard it all the time while he was in office, we've seen the posters, the bumper stickers, read the stories, seen the protest signs...the submission was approved by Moveon.org and was aligned with the group's thinking. The members cheered. The lefty Redditer and Diggers went wild with mouth-frothering joy. It's only when they received too much heat did they remove it. But by then it did not matter, it had already become a viral "ad." Mission Accomplished.
We know how slime like Racfhel Maddow and Moveon.org work
"in these youtube days" a lie is still a lie, and you lied when you said that Moveon "ran an ad" and you know it, slimeball. It was one of 1500 submissions for the ad and it lost, like most of them did -- that's the plain truth. As for becoming "viral", that's the doing of Dick Armey, you, and other right wingers.
"In the warped minds of yours, Moveon’s, the DailyKooks and the rest, the ad is just fine, thank you"
Another lie of yours; the ad is not "just fine" in the minds of Kat, Moveon, etc.; however, if the tables were turned, you would find such ads just fine -- many of your teabagger friends walk around with posters comparing Obama to Hitler, and you approve. You and people like you will lie at the drop of a hat, you will say anything that you think justifies your ends, but you have to dig deep to find something that you can even try to argue is a lie by Rachel Maddow.
That's the truth, certainly as I see it, and you know that if you were in my shoes you would see it that way too. so you can respond any way you want to this, or delete it, but it won't change the fact that I and many others sincerely -- and justifiably -- believe that you and people like you are lying scum.
Amen - time tested strategy to allow plausible deniability. Beautiful in its simplicity and allows idiots like Kat to take the egg on the face for defending it.
I guess some folks still haven't figured out the rules to this game - politics are not for the fainthearted and uninformed.
Great job showing some lies in the face of the American people... She should not have her job.
Simple.
