Thousands of Nazi soldiers were using the drug crystal meth by the time the Soviet Union was invaded in 1941.

As our regular readers are well aware, Cops is the Editor’s favorite TV show. His normal life is lived in a peaceful, antiseptic bubble and everything he knows about the horrors of the outside world comes from that outstanding program. And if there’s one thing he’s learned from years of watching Cops, it’s that crystal meth is one bad mofo drug.

Now it turns out that Hitler’s army was whacked out on the stuff 60 years ago.

The News Australia has the story:

The German army’s drug of choice as it overran Poland, Holland, Belgium and France was Pervitin – pills made of methamphetamine, known today as crystal meth.

Thousands of Nazi soldiers were using the drug by the time the Soviet Union was invaded in 1941.

About 200 million Pervitin pills were given to Nazi troops between 1939 and 1945, research by the German Doctors’ Association revealed.

A pharmacologist from the GDA said this week: “The blitzkrieg was fuelled by Pervitin. The idea was to turn ordinary soldiers, sailors and airmen into automatons capable of superhuman performance.”

The downside to the scheme was that many soldiers became addicted to the drug and of no use in any theatre of war.

… In January 1942, a group of 500 troops surrounded by the Red Army was attempting to escape in temperatures of -30C.

The unit’s medical officer wrote: “I decided to give them Pervitin as they began to lie down in the snow wanting to die. After half an hour the men began spontaneously reporting that they felt better.

“They began marching in orderly fashion again, their spirits improved, and they became more alert.”

So thanks to crystal meth, Nazi soldiers were completely alert as they were freezing to death, being slaughtered by the Red Army or captured and sent to Soviet slave camps.

The Editor’s wife might prefer any of those options over watching another episode of Cops. But her taste in television is as questionable as her taste in men.

Director Oliver Stone belittled the Holocaust during a shocking interview with the Sunday Times today, claiming that America’s focus on the Jewish massacre was a product of the “Jewish domination of the media.”

The director also defended Hitler and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and railed against the “powerful lobby” of Jews in America.

Stone said that his upcoming Showtime documentary series for “Secret History of America,” seeks to put Hitler and Communist dictator Joseph Stalin “in context.”

Yes, of course, Hitler was merely misunderstood. And in Stone’s mind, it’s always Springtime for Hitler.

Those of you who think it’s absurd to compare America 2009 to Nazi Germany would be well-advised to read this chilling excerpt from a speech by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda:

“The newspapers today are filled with congratulations for Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. The nuances vary, depending on the tone, character, and attitude of the newspaper. All, however, agree on one thing: Hitler is a man of stature who has already accomplished historically important deeds and faces still greater challenges. He is the kind of statesman found only rarely in Germany. During his lifetime, he has the good fortune not only to be appreciated and loved by the overwhelming majority of the German people, but even more importantly to be understood by them. He is the only German politician of the post-war period who understood the situation and drew the necessary hard and firm conclusions. All the newspapers agree on this.”

Sound oddly familiar? Let’s look at the same speech with just the names changed:

It’s easy to imagine the latter version came straight from the fawning Obama coverage provided by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and most newspapers and magazines.

But let’s face it. The scheiße would have hit the fan had Anita Dunn said Goebbels was one of her “favorite philosophers” instead of Mao.

We’re confident, however, that the Nazi Minister of Propaganda will surely be added to her short list as soon as she reads this quote.

Maddow says MoveOn.org never ran commercial comparing Bush to Hilter. Is she lying or is she lying?

Dick Armey mentioned that MoveOn.org had once run commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf Hilter. Rachel Maddow was shocked, insisting they didn’t do it. Here’s the commercial.

Like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Former Congressman Dick Armey appeared on Sunday’s Meet The Press. Armey mentioned that MoveOn.org had once run commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf Hilter. Rachel Maddow (or it it Ron Reagan Jr.? We can never tell those two apart) was shocked.

“They didn’t do it,” Maddow insisted. “MoveOn.org never ran an ad that compared Bush and Hitler.”

Armey just smiled knowingly and revealed he had watched the despicable ad that morning.

This commercial, perhaps.

China’s official media protested a German condom ad that shows revolutionary leader Mao Zedong as a sperm cell. The campaign includes other ads featuring Adolf Hitler and Osama bin Laden.

The People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party, devoted a full page to the controversy and demanded that the condom company apologize to China.

Grey Worldwide, one of the world’s largest ad agencies, created the safe sex ad for Doc Morris Pharmacies. They’ve reportedly sent a letter of apology to the Chinese consulate in Frankfurt.

Not all Chinese seem quite so angry, though. “I am a former worker who is now 70,” said one comment on the sina.com website. “I have thought about it a lot and I still cannot understand why these people defend Mao so strongly.”

He is survived by his wife, three children and seven grandchildren (all boys).

Toxic Janeane Garafalo compares Limbaugh to Manson & Hitler

janeane_garofalo_200x300Unfunny comedienne Janeane Garafalo showed up on Keith Olbermann’s show last night. She was as unfunny as ever, but Keith laughed Olber-maniacally anyway.

“The type of female that does like Rush is the same type of woman that falls in love with prisoners,” she said. After mentioning Richard Ramirez and Charles Manson, she continued by saying, “Eva Braun, Hitler’s girlfriend, that’s exactly the type of woman that responds really well to Rush.”

“(Former CNN anchor Daryn Kagan) dated him,” the ever-so-charming Garafalo whined, “so either she suffers from Stockholm Syndrome, a lot like Michael Steele, who’s the black guy in the Republican party who suffers from Stockholm Syndrome, which means you try and curry favor with the oppressor…any female or person of color in the Republican party is struggling with Stockholm Syndrome.”

LA Times letter: Pope was trained by Hitler

If we ran a story as vile as the following letter that ran in the LA Times today, we’d be hounded off the internet. And rightfully so. Here it is:

“The Jesuits have a saying, ‘Give me the boy until he is 7, and I will give you the man.’ You can now add, ‘Give Adolf Hitler the boy until he is 7, and he will give you the pope.’”

The Times is obviously suffering from social schizophrenia. On one hand, its reporting seems to be virulently anti-Catholic. On the other hand, it supports illegal aliens at every turn, despite the fact that they are assumed to be overwhelmingly Catholic.

Must be like the war in Iraq. They support the troops, but not the mission.

LA Times thinks Obama = Hitler?

omaba_hitler_croppedhitler arm out smallThe internet is abuzz with commentary about the photo used on the cover of the LA Times post election issue. Why would they select a photo in which Obama appears to be giving a Nazi salute?

The editorial board here at IHateTheMedia.com is even split between those who were raised Catholic and those who were raised Methodist.

Our Catholic contingent thinks the Times’ photo was chosen to make a visual comparison between Obama and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting of God’s hand reaching out to Adam.

Our Methodist contingent says it reminds them of the end of the church service when Methodist ministers traditionally raise their arms toward their flocks and give the final benediction.

But we all agree that anyone who compares Obama to Hitler is way out of line.

He’s actually far more like Lenin.
