We’re always told that neutral Switzerland is the world’s most peaceful nation. But opponents of the second amendment don’t want you to know the reason it’s so peaceful is that its citizens are armed to the teeth.
The country is crawling with assault rifles. More than 600,000 of them.
All Swiss men aged 21 to 32 men serve in Switzerland’s militia. They’re each issued an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they’re required to keep in their homes.
After fulfilling mandatory military service, Swiss men then serve in something very similar to the U.S. National Guard. They’re issued bolt rifles and are still required to train occasionally. Women aren’t required to own guns, but they’re strongly encouraged to do so.
And you thought Swiss army knives were impressive.

I have always been for responsible firearm ownership. Too bad I live in Chicago IL where the mantra is 'guns are evil and are the cause of all humanity's problems'. We sure are not like those 'gun nut' Swiss. IL has the most restrictive firearms law of the 50 (58 if you are an Obama fan) states in the Union. Too bad our crime and murder rates, just check it since 2000 or so, put us at or near the top year on year. Maybe keeping guns out of the hands of would be victims is a bad thing? Naw! Self defense and freedom from assault and harm and overrated fads...

A video like the one above is mere a sorry attempt by free thinking men and women to see the facts and not cave into demagogues. That video makes a solid case for firearm ownership and the sensible use of said firearms. It would not stand up to the supreme logic of the Chicago Political Machine (the same darlings who gave the Nation and the world the great BHO!) in a debate however. After all the Chicago Ways says "Guns are evil because... they are GUNS!" Good luck trying to convert the Left to think clearly on the issue just because you have facts and proof to support your viewpoint on the issue. ;-)

What exactly is an "assault rifle"??? The lefty-MSM and all the ANTI-gun groups would just love for ALL U.S. citizens to believe "assault rifles" are WMDs out there in our great land killing 1000s of innocent people, mostly children, every single day.
BUT, it's really just a meaningless term invented by anti-gun groups and the lefty MSM (which most IHTM readers probably know, are basically the same thing) and commonly used to demonize semi-automatic rifles!!! ....remember, it's been illegal to purchase or own automatic weapons (w/o special permits) in the U.S. since the 1930s.
So, in the terms of your story, a large percentage of Swiss citizens are armed with rifles, and when being more specific, they keep in their homes their military issued service rifles. Not "assault rifles".
Please don't be the MSM.
